- Coheed And Cambria performing Key Entity Extraction III: Vic The Butcher AND Key Entity Extraction IV: Evagria The Faithful live at Metro Theatre in Sydney on 20 April 2013
It would be hard to find a band with grander artistic scope than Coheed And Cambria. They continue to remain a unique beast, impossible to classify and are simply this generation's greatest musical storytellers.
Following five groundbreaking albums, the New York foursome are back and in no less dramatic fashion than is to be expected. The Afterman: Ascension and The Afterman: Descension is an ambitious double concept album that is being unleashed in two separate full-length volumes.

I used to think Evagria the Faithful was one of Coheed’s weaker songs, but then I saw it live and it made sense. It’s one of their best songs to see live.
Vic the butcher definitely one of the most underrated coheed tracks they need to retour Afterman just so I can see Vic live before I die
definitely
I’m praying for an afterman 10 year anniversary tour next year, but it’ll also be perfect timing for an IKSSE:3 20 year anniversary tour, so kind of a win win there if they do either lol
I think if Claudio had been born in the Classical or Romantic era he would've been a famous composer like Beethoven. His creativity and musical intuition is unmatched.
its not the artist that is the problem its the listener we have taste while most people listen to drake and 21 pilots because they dont understand that a band that sounds good live is a treasure they care about electronic beats and auto tune. i believe coheed would have been great in the 80s
Supreme Alpha What does that have to do with my comment?
you said romantic era i say the 80s
@@ValiantKnight7983 since you said he would be way more popular in the romantic era, he was saying why people don't appreciate him as much as they should today. Instead they listen to a single piano riff with some dude with an insane amount of autotune with a single beat behind it. Music is evolving for the worst

interesting thing is, someone like claudio would never find success on a tv talent show due to his unconventional look and vocal style. and how much better is music because of that?!!!
@Ryan Smith or actual talent
The bass in Evagria is fucking phenomenal.
Still in love with this Evagria performance 💜💜💜
The best
So, I've just started listening to Coheed and Cambria, and absolutely love them. In a way they remind me of Rush, specifically the story telling, and the uniqueness of Claudio's voice. At times I hear Geddy Lee. So fantastic and so happy I found them. I realize they have been around for some time, but at least I got there.
Good Lord Claudio was spot on during Evagria. "This tragedy's all myyyyyyyyyyyyyy fault!" Pure perfection.
The more I listen to Evagria the more I fall in love with song, At first it was one the lesser played tracks for me on the album, but the more I hear it, the more I cant stop.
Josh's rhythm work on these two albums is amazing, some of the best I have ever heard, Evagria is just filled with his genius drumming.
that's quite interesting that you say that because for me it absolutely stood out as one of the stronger tracks. the beat and the vocal hook are both brilliant.
It definitely took me a bit to catch on to it's brilliance due to it coming pretty late in the album, but it definitely turned to one of my favorite songs after a few listens to the album.
It was one of my favorites to begin with but every time I listen to it I fall in love with it more and more too. I find myself singing it half the time. It's even on my work-out track list! :)
Claudette Alonzo
It was my favorite from the start :D awesome groove on that one and Zach's basslines are soooo tasty. The vocals hook is undeniable!
I miss them playing Afterman cuts on tour. Last two concerts had no songs from either album. Still great set lists but I love this era
Afterman 2 is my favorite record by them. Blows my mind that they would leave some of those tunes out.
To be fair, with such an amazing catalogue of songs it's gotta be hard to put together a setlist. The 2 times I've seen them no Afterman either😔
@@reverendslim2641 I'm seeing them in 5 days, they aren't playing any of those songs on this tour either.
I enjoy only seeing two cameras or phones up. People enjoying the music. “The old days”
Vic The Butcher!!
flawless evagria performance..wowww
The best band ever, and I'm 47 years old... Thanks Coheed, I wish I could see you live.
Evagria the faithful in 2023
This is better than original version.
Yes! At 0:58 Claudio totally says, "I'm Fucking High" lol
They really need to play this song more. My favorite always. 9:38
Whatever the fuck that was at 11:37 when he channeled the music gods and did that vocal solo was literally a masterpiece moment
I continue to be impressed listening to Josh play Evagria. Love these dudes.
Yo come to the states and play both of these pleeeease
Thanks for the response. I recently saw them open for Alice in Chains in California. They performed an acoustic set, which was amazing. So I went out and bought all the albums I could find. Thanks for the heads up on the tour. I will definitely catch them in Chicago if they come through. Cheers
Josh looks like he's having so much fun during Evagria
To be fair I got exposed to Coheed through Rock Band and Welcome Home and I consider myself a huge fan of theirs now
It's funny when u been a coheed fan a long time cuz welcome home is like one of the lowest on the pole among coheed fans lol
@@kylec1411 i dont get why lol coheeds my favorite band and welcome home is in my top ten for them.
@@nosearose It's because of elitism
If you say your favorite song is the most popular you will get crucified for no reason on the internet
Bealtifull and amazing coheed and cambria!!!!! 😍😍😍😍
I love Coheed and Cambria 👏👏👏
Travis man! man oh man Travis!!!! Travis is killing it!! Travis you the man!!! you the mannn!!
Evagria is my favorite song. I really hope they play it when I see them in August!
Wow! Just wow... Both of these songs are flawless. Coheed never fails!
again a fucking amazing coheed show. coheed will live on through the end of time haha
ill listen to their music when the black hole swallows us
this is the best !
Thanks for the message. It's always fun to be turned on to music that I have not been exposed to. I saw them just out side of San Fran, and have purchased tickets to the Grand Rapids show in October. Really looking forward to it. I'm slowly getting through their catalog, but so far it has all been fantastic. Cheers
this is sick
MASTERPIECES
Nice man!
You absolutely have to see them live. They are about to go a large headlining tour so check to see if they are playing near you!
My exact thoughts when they played this in Atlanta
yes....it's called rock and roll .hitting those notes??? some of them are impossible, go ahead and try for yourself. that cracking super note in Sentry defiant, is priceless! and, they are heavily touring that's for sure...Travis is the man! but no doubt it's Claudio's Band , and he has 80% of my attention Live... just drove from Buffalo NY to Ft walton beach to see them in a bar! worth every mile!!!!! and just think, my son turned me on to these guys about 4 years ago
=epic=
Evagria The Faithful always reminds me of a lost track from either The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway by Genesis or a B side from So by Peter Gabriel
That drum fill @ 11:00 is so nice..
Wow! Both the
oh gawd yesh! that solo at the end of KEE:4
12:00
His voice is better and more consistent than it has ever been. That being said, it is very difficult to sing that many songs in the range he is singing, especially now that he is getting a little older. He could help himself by being a little bit more disciplined on tour (Not drinking as much, actually sleeping, etc) but that is not for me to decide.
Josh drops a stick in Vic. What a save
Waka cha waka. Loving that Curtis mayfield guitar playing in Eva.
Hes just muting the strings smh lol
With the wa wa pedal
It looks like Grand Rapids, Michigan and Columbus, Ohio is the closest they will be on this tour.
No worries, I am sure they will be closer to you on a future tour.
Claudio had gotten me through life lol
2020?
Evagria The Faithful always reminds me of a lost Genesis song from The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway album or possible a B-side from the So album by Peter Gabriel.
Hope to see them play it this june in boston
damn right!! :P
fucking sick
make 2 separate links for the song pleaseeeee!!!
damnnn travis guitar part is sick
by "full tab for this" I mean evagria
Actually, Claudio quit smoking around the time GA2 was coming out, I believe. Maybe a bit before that, so 2006 or 2007. That's 6-7 years clean - the time frame the lungs require to fully regenerate themselves. His smoking shouldn't physically alter the way his voice sounds, though he may have picked up different vocal techniques from his years as a smoker.
If anyone has a full tab for this please inbox me, google is being useless
Hotel? Evagria.
it's not progressive rock. it's coheed and cambria.
12:45 Dem notes
I felt the same way - almost like he's trying to hard to get that higher pitch?
It is partially a mixing issue but it also has to do with him not going to sleep at all the night before this show. It is near impossible to perform at a high level without a rested and fresh voice.
I don't think smoking is a big issue. Like I said, he is far more consistent live and can do much more with his voice. Songs like the Hard Sell and Domino the Destitute are good examples of that. He could have never covered Heaven and Hell 3-10 years ago the way he does now.
It's a mixing issue in this video. They engineered his vocals to be thin as hell. But, side note, his smoking has been catching up to him in the past few years.
Is it just me or is something up with claudios voice in this song.
Fucking Evagria! Yes!
gtfo fighting kids
Coheed play lots of different styles including metal.
he was probably tired from all the touring:(
Its considered both progressive rock and progressive metal. Or like an alternative metal or something.
eh eh eh Don't feed the troll. He knows we love it..
You say "bitch!" like it's a bad thing!
Who cares what it's called?? It sounds just the same: awesome!
There is a severe lack of Joshface in this video.
One thing with this gig, Claudio does not look right without some sort of beard.
why the hell do you type in your accent?
he's fucking Frank from 30 Rock.
I agree with everyone talking about the mix...I've seen Coheed live 10x and it's been absolutely incredible every time. They sound HORRIBLE in this video because of the mix.
its progressive metal
Like dream theater..
that's not very fair to coheed. they are far better than dream theatre. coheed write epics, dream theatre write solos with lyrics.
said no one ever, I don't know how you came up with that comparison
said no one ever? Did I not just say it?
I was answering to mark, I like both bands, don't get me wrong but they are completely different aside from the fact that they both can be considered progressive music
Yeah I did wonder. :)
you boys enjoyin' yer pop metal ?
i think he's just tired.
You think this is pop metal?
Okay im a huge coheed fan love these guys. but claudio sounds really out of key with his singing or something like it's missing something. In my opinion coheed is probably one of the best bands you could see live in terms of a flawless great live sound. Am i the only one who is hearing something up with his voice.
this must be late into the tour, he deosnt saound as good as at the begining. Must of just been loosing his voice.
These videos are awesome, but holy crap the sound mixing is freaking terrible.
Too much gain/treble in those guitars and not enough gain on the bass. Mids and Lows could also use a good boost on the mic since it sounds like he's singing through a sheet of paper lol. As awesome as this live set is, it could have been more powerful with a little more EQ and balance...
+Brett Culbertson it's not the fault of the sound engineer ... it's the problem with recording live sound.
I think it's more progressive metal, but it's definitely not "pop metal". Nothing can ever be as bad as glam metal.
Why do people try to label everything. Who gives a fuck. If it's good it's good.
yall still into these girly boy bands?
They are WAYYYYY off from that it's not even funny
10th year anniversary tour?
I would die for it
Speaking only in reference to this/these album(s) the messages are gorgeous and the instruments and melody conquered carry those messages majestically as each unfolds. Each instrument has a vital role in which without would deeply disconnect the system and stagger the delivery. The completion in this particular art and style is not in an isolated use of any one thing but its perception as a whole. I marvel with each repeated visit. Continue forth soundtracking my life so intimately, Coheed &C. And a many thanks
