I used to admire him with some good changes in Manila, but when he started campaigning I also started to see his true colors. He sounded like asking his opponents to withdraw from a fight (war) as he runs out of bullets. Robredo or other candidates’ reason for running is theirs alone. My personal take on this:
Is it necessary to put out a joint statement? Yes. To keep the minds of their supporters at ease. To give them the assurance that their support will not go in vain.
Is it necessary to have a press con regardless on where they held it and how much that it cost? No. They can instead accommodate a formal and/or an ambush interview to explain the essence of their joint statement.
Are they being an Anti-Leni? Yes. As hard as they try to put out that they are not, it became that way based on how they expressed their sentiments on their experiences with her camp. The provocative questions of the media are not the driving factor that it became a "semi-hostile" environment against the VP.
Are they Pro-Marcos? No. In the essence of the election, he's their competitor and they wanted to win over him.
Will this have a drastic effect on their numbers? No. I'd like to believe that the Filipinos are much more smarter voters than they are in the previous years. They can't and won't be easily swayed by this.
