Bypassing Tokyo and Kyoto Ainsley travels to Osaka. It’s not usually on the tourist trail but it’s irresistible for Ainsley, even the Japanese call this city Japan’s Kitchen. In Osaka people greet each other with the challenge ‘Kuidaore’ or ‘Eat yourself Bankrupt’. This is the city that invented the motorized Sushi belt and the Pot Noodle and invention is at the heart of so much of the street food here.
In Osaka Ainsley discovers the art of making Okonomiyaki; it’s like an English breakfast wrapped in a pancakes and in Japan it’s a street food sensation! Ainsley seeks out the most exciting Isakaya pubs where they serve tapas Japanese style, small plates of amazing food for young workers on their way home.
In the Red light district he confronts one of the most dangerous foods in the world (and no, it’s not Fugu!) and he bravely steps into the dark alleys of Korea Town where there are grill bars where tourists never dare to tread, and now he knows why!

Seeing the Japanese chefs watch Ainsley cook with such intrigue and watching their happy smiling faces when they highly approve of his food is so therapeutic
At 30:40 Chef Ainsley was making, without knowing, a very popular Japanese soulfood: Gyuudon.
Chef Ainsley Harriott, you are blessed to have a smile (small to large) that elates the soul. Positive blessings.
Japanese food has subtle flavors... Westerners sometimes have a hard time getting into the flavors.
What a good tv show👍
Ainsley rules 💪😌
OK, so Korea Town's Horumonyaki is exactly the same as what ENslaved Afrikans/Black people had to make due with on plantations - ichitlings, hog maw, neckbones, pig feet, gizzards... which is now synonymous with US/North american Black soul food. Ainsley might not have made that connection in that segment with Vince since he's from the UK. I've only seen three of his videos so far - in the last two days.
The YT algorithm popped him up and I"m soooo impressed with him and the fact that he's a Brotha chef and the show is focused on global street foods. I'm a foodie and when I travel anywhere, it's all about the food.
I need to be travel friends with him... LOL!
I love your voice please keep doing this.

❤❤❤❤
luv it but 20 yrs late
In the first 5 minutes there were already 2 errors in information. 1) Katsu does not mean fried. 2) tempura did not arrive in Japan post-WW2.
Great. Now try enjoying the other 40 minutes with an open mind instead of looking for what you can criticize. Really.
hehe boaiiii
I found it ridiculous for a chef who does a food show like this to always feel reluctant and sometimes even refuse to try to eat the food that is not familiar to him. I mean, it's just a grilled chicken hearts dude! Come on! 🙄
Watch the Sicily episode, the Sicilian Chef criticized him for that, saying: “Be a man for once..” lol.. He seems like a good chef and overall good guy, but an unlikely picky eater when it comes to animal innards…
@@rickg8015 can't be a picky eater when doing a food show. And offals are delicious! 😋
I agree, if you do these kind of programmes then you've got to go all in - still enjoyed it though and Ainsley Harriott seems to be an okay guy...
Pffffffftt, Puck that. Chefs are allowed to have food dislikes just like everyone else, TV show or not.
Bourdain was right about this Philistine
