Do The Man/ The Legend/ Touchdown!? It goes hard would sound sick if you have it a big explosive end!
Maverick was one of the first sequels that I've watched in a while that didn't feel like a money machine---there was actual love and effort put into it, and it made for a really good film with a really good soundtrack to boot.
In my opinion it's a sequel that was better than the original. First movie was really good too, nothing against that.

Shows that studios and directors putting time and effort in sequels/reboots is a lot more effective than a cash grab.

Maverick is an example of how to pay honor and tribute to the original while telling its own original story without blatantly disrespecting the original characters and movie

The story is literally the same, but yeah. One of the best movies in 2022.
His insistence to show this in Movie Theaters is being heralded as saving the movie theater industry. At over $1B box office WITHOUT China, I agree.

@@Helix_101 Simple answer, they showed a particular flag on the back of Mavericks bomber jacket. Taiwanese I believe. China objected and asked for it to be scrubbed out. Cruise said no, so China said no. Basic answer.

Best movie of the year. Hands down. For the first time in what felt like a long time, I got to go to the theater to watch something that felt real. All due respect to superhero movies and sci-fi as a whole. They have their place. And there are good movies in those genres. But, no superhero movie can ever compare to the real heroes, even if they're portrayed by fictional characters. That's what made Maverick such a great movie for me. 10/10 and will be going to see it again!
Exact. A film made with respect and admiration for the first part. A movie made by fans for fans. You notice that everyone is enjoying, Tom Cruise is as if he were a small child. It's a wonderful movie.
with all due respect, superhero movies are milking a dead cow. disney needs to stop embarrassing themselves. the respect goes to a great actor that owns the role, not just cgi thrown at the audience, but captures the audience. respect to tom cruise.
Top Gun: Maverick (2022) is the best sequel of 2022, and one of the best current and all-time sequels in the history of the film industry that I have ever seen. I hope it hits The 2023 Academy Awards, because Tom Cruise went above and beyond with this remarkable and outstanding sequel. Excellent and epic musical version of the Top Gun theme, Samuel Kim, 100/100.
I loved the movie but idk about best all time sequel. It's definitely a contender, but let's not forget the cultural impact of Empire Strikes Back.

I'm solidly with you on that and I'm from an age group that has Empire and Aliens on an untouchable tower. Well Maverick not only touches the tower, it's buzzing it so hard those movies are spilling their coffee. I'll say it, Top Gun Maverick is a top 3 best all time sequel easily as good or better than some of the previous mentioned movies by myself and others.

Took my dad to watch Top Gun last week, since he used to tell me he saw it when it first aired and he enjoyed it ,he hasn't been in a movie theater in over 30 years.
I have never seen him smile so much, the movie was truly amazing

I lost my Dad to dementia this month and has his funeral yesterday. Your comment made me cry, as I took him to see Bobemian Rhapsody at the cinema before he was too unwell to go out anymore.
It was an awesome experience to see him so happy as Queen were his favourite band.
Please go to the movies with your Dad as much as you can, as watching a film is a shared experience and you’ll always remember seeing those films with him once he’s gone (hopefully a long time from now) and they will be a small way of keeping your memories of him alive.

I disagree the theme is completely drowned out by his cover/epic music. It doesn't do the original justice imo.
I had no emotional connection to the first Top Gun film, but walking out of Maverick I had a huge smile on my face. The cinematography alone is all but worth the price of admission.

Haven't enjoyed a movie this much in years. You can tell this was made with love and respect for the craft. I almost cried.

My family and I saw it in theaters. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the first one (mainly because I didn’t pay that much attention), but the second one made me want to actually focus on what was going on and I really liked it. Thanks for bringing it into your massive field of musical art!

Amazing, definitely one of the best movie soundtracks.
Easily my favorite film of this year, even topping The Batman for me. Maverick was just an incredible experience. They did the impossible and somehow surpassed the original and my expectations in every way. The cinematography, the music, the emotion, everything was just perfect.
Maverick is infinitely more enjoyable than The Batman

This theme always makes me cry, because I think of my Grandpa when I hear it.
Him, my brother and I are huge into fighter jets and airshows. He wasn't someone who went to theaters, but this was one he was absolutely going to. Sadly he passed in 2020 long before this movie came out. I miss him

This movie was absolutely unbelievable. I loved it so much it is now my favorite movie and is a must watch. The crew managed to make an awesome movie and really show us what an action movie should be. You can see the love put in to it and it is one of the few sequels that did not disappoint and may even be better than the original. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it yet.
BRUH I literally just finally watched this film yesterday (like not even 24 hours ago) and was looking for the soundtrack themes and covers…sometimes I feel like Samuel can read my mind lol. 😂
I was so blown away by this movie, and truly the hype still did not prepare me for what a good film it was. Half of the reason I watched it was honestly for the jets, and the shots they were able to capture, and the stunt flying that was used left me speechless.
I had fully rewatched the original last week, and although it’s a solid movie, and nostalgic because it’s one of dad’s favorite movies (or was when it came out lol) I wouldn’t say that it grabbed me that much. But THIS MOVIE. Maverick almost felt like the main act, and the original Top Gun simply set the stage. And yes, my mascara was a total mess by the end, and I was very glad that I brought tissues to the theater because it made me EMOTIONAL.

Yes! Love it! Maverick was honestly a worthy sequel. I was REALLY on the fence about Miles Teller, but he did a great job. Back to the music, as always, you always strike the right chords!

I just went to the USS Midway today and I had a great time. Coming back home to this is just the cherry on top.
It’s so refreshing to finally have a practical effect movie created delicately by the film crew to have a heart and soul that protects and respects the past without ruining old characters in order to milk the corporate cash cow.
This was truly the best action movie I’ve seen in a very very very long time I’d say almost since the Dark Knight Trilogy and truly brought me back to a time when actors and film producers loved and cared for their product.
I recommend anyone to see this movie whether you’ve seen the first one like military aviation or not it’s truly a great movie when it comes out on Streaming it’ll for sure be on my watch lists.

Ever since I played Top gun on my DS as a kid I have been wanting something like this for the longest time, absolute perfection
Cinemas exist because of and for this type of film. This film has sold itself because everyone who comes out of seeing it tells you that it is an experience. And besides, it's a sequel that makes you forget about the first one, something that never happens. You remain enthralled in each scene, it is wonderful in every way.
This movie is pure cinematic magic .... Worth the wait .. very rarely sequels are this good

I watched this movie with my family, it was a hell of an experience , we all got teary eyes when we walked out of the theater.
After watching Maverick I thought, “Samuel Kim should definitely make a remix out of the theme” then I wake up and see this lol

This was the first movie I actually went back to the cinemas to rewatch it. Really great movie
I wasn’t expecting to like this movie. I went with family because they wanted to see it. But I loved it. It’s been so long since a movie hit like this. It felt real, it felt nostalgic, it had the magic that movies used to have. The effects were amazing. So refreshing to not see bloated CGI everywhere. Fantastic movie. It was a love letter to the fans. This is how you do a sequel.
This movie is THE perfect definition of what a sequel must be!! No other future sequels (not from top gun but all movies in general) are gonna pass the sublimity of this one!! This is what the fans wanted, this is the after story and nostalgia they wished for!! I'm 25 but i got literal tears when i watched it in theaters. For my parents it was an absolute moment of nostalgia (especially for my mom because Top Gun is her favorite movie) because they watched the first one in theathers when it was released back in '86.
The story line is sooo well thought, Goose's son follow his dad's footprints all the nostalgia flashbacks, Mav helping his best friend's son. You really can see they weren't focused on gaining money but of focused on giving the fans an awesome nostalgic wholesome moment they never gonna forget. This is what every movie should be!
I give this movie infinite stars and a 1000 outta 10.

I was fortunate enough to see this twice. Once in Imax, and once in Dloby. What a glorious experience. Amazing movie, amazing action, amazing stunts, amazing sound, amazing score, amazing everything.
Top Gun is one of my all time favorite movies! I just saw Top Gun Maverick the other day and my God it was AWESOME!! My favorite part of the movie was the F-14 Tomcat scene at the end. Talk about an awesome nostalgia bomb! I am so getting this movie when it releases on DVD! Then I will have them both!

This is amazing and it sounds so triumphant! TGM did what so many other franchises failed to do; make a legacy sequel that actually not only exceeds the original but also respects its legacy characters. I can’t even put into words how happy I was to see Mav survive this movie.
