Chael, there is a term for it. It is called Main Character Syndrome..if he can find an excuse he will ride it like a bucking bronco, when there is no excuse for losing he shells up and goes quiet for attention...he likes the "whats wrong? are you ok? please talk to me?" until he feels like his ego has been fed then he will come out in 4 months and say he has figured it out and he is ready to go on a run. Rinse and Repeat. That is Anthony Smith.

Not only did he recently lose his mom but his PTSD from the break-in is really bad. For those who don't know, Smiths house was broken into and he had to fight a dude on meth who just wouldn't quit fighting back. That's why he accused Johnny of "assaulting his family", Smith was channeling that episode of ptsd. Also a video popped up of him having a jump scare when the mailman put mail thru the mail slot. It was on video podcast with Bisping. Smith needs some therapy, poor guys got too much on his shoulders. ❤

Smith had a great resurgence in his career where he was able to work his way up to a title fight, but after that performance with Walker, it would probably be wise to hang it up. He's too tough for his own good, the fight he had with Glover where he didn't wanna quit proves that.

Seeing fans try to connect plotlines they have is hilarious. You legit have no idea if that's related. Prize fighters are a weird breed, and you cant be a CZcams psychologist about this stuff. I've seen people say oh he has PTSD about this thing, just bc they know the story and connect these dots themselves. That's not how PTSD works, for one, also its incredibly convenient for fans to sort of parasocially construct these things as if THEY have the insights. Truth is you have no fukn clue and he couldve been fukn w Walker bc it kinda worked. Johnny was fighting scared to the point Anthony was out on his feet and was too timid to finish it.

Rocky Marciano retired after defending his HW title against one of the greatest boxers of all time: The Mongoose, Archie Moore. Rocky's physical skills were still in tact. If it wasn't his "prime," it was really close. But Marciano had had enough (and was sick and tired of his manager taking half his income and treating him like personal property). But after a year or so, with his record standing at a perfect 49-0, Marciano planned a comeback, hoping to get to an even 50-0 and perhaps winning back his vacated HW title. So The Rock - known to this day as having the most intensive training and physical fitness in boxing history - went back to work preparing for his comeback. After just a few days he stopped - something that had never occurred to him before. No matter how hard he tried he simply couldn't find the motivation. By this time he was financially secure and had a growing family. Being away from home, running the roads at 5am, denying himself every pleasure, sticking to insane workouts, sparring and hitting his massive 300-lb heavy bag until his hands bled....suddenly held no attraction to him. He could have made a fortune with a comeback. But it wasn't to be. He left training camp with little fanfare and never boxed again.

I always tune in for an Anthony Smith fight because Anthony always has to fight two people. He has to fight his opponent for sure but first he has to overcome his own self-doubting bastard that lives in his head. I like to watch that battle. But I knew this fight was going to be tough for Anthony because Walker likes to fight at the same range Anthony does...except Walker is 4 to 5 inches longer. And that was the story of the fight. His coaches should have told him from jump, 'Look, you can't fight that mid-range poke game with this guy.' So Anthony probably thinks he really got tuned up by this guy but one little strategy change and this fight would have broke Anthony's way, big time.

Not a single guy who has taken a bunch of em in a fight has yet been able to deal with em and get the win I don't think, whenever those legs get beaten up you lose your ability to move proficiently which makes you a sitting target essentially

Idk why but I get that chill down my spine feeling when talking about this. If theres ever been a guy who deserves the walk into the sunset career ending, its Anthony! He's such a great person. But as another commenter points out, I think he has a deep darkness in him. It really worries me. He's always been the one counted out. But still gets to the big dance. And for whatever reason. Whether its his fault or just the way things happened, he can't seem to ever mount his flag at the top of the hill of probably what he sees and expects as "greatness". Having come so close but so far so many times in life can do a number on a guy. Plus father time is right on his door as far as his fighting career is concerned.
I do think he can still make a run for a title if everything can line up perfectly. He has the skills, size, (and if he can find it) the killer mentality. And he's got a little bit of pull with the company (even though they've screwed him over before too). But if its hurting him as much as he tries to hide that it isn't, I hope he doesn't keep pushing himself to strive for something that doesn't actually matter. End of the day, this is prize fighting. No one said you have to get a belt. There are olenty fighters who never touched gold but are staples of the sport. So what he never gets the title. Imagine knowing that there are maybe only (at the very most) a hand full of people walking this planet that could actually stop you in physical combat? Chael said it well. He's made his mark. He has nothing to prove. I support that guy wherever he decides to go. He's is greatness!

The same with the Jones fight. He knew he was outmatched and was waiting for it to be over. MMA is too dangerous for those whoe hearts are not entirely in it.

If I had to take a guess, I'd say Smith is suffering from low T. His physique isn't what it used to be, and even though he's training hard, and is only 34 years old, he looks soft. And having low T and training too hard will only exacerbate the problem. T is also very important when it comes to motivation, which seems to be lacking for him.
He seems like a nice guy. I wish him well.

I thought when he said "now youre attacking my family" what he meant was that walker was fighting safe; refusing to engage, and destroying his legs. That Smith wanted a more exciting fight and that Walker was injuring the ligaments in his legs and that both of these things would have negative effects on his career and his future; thus injuring his ability to provide for his family.

Agree i truly believe it was some type of PTSD from the guy who broke into anthonys house, i think he intentionally tried to summon/tap into it like chael said, but i think it triggered way too many emotions to win a fight. Much like those typical guys saying when they get mad they see red but getting mad wont help you, like chael told tito i dont care if you feel good bad or indifferent, no fight has ever been judged by who had more of a fire lit under their A
I seen a comment on a different video saying it was like waterboy pretending they were talking about his mama for tackling fuel 💀

After watching Anthony "Lionheart" Smith since he started in the UFC, I am 100% convinced that his coaches gave him the nickname Lionheart in hopes of motivating him to have SOME kind of heart during his fights. I've never seen this dude fight with any kind of heart at all. He needs to change his name to Anthony "Lambheart" Smith. That being said, he seems like a really good, nice guy. But, I don't think he should fight anymore.
