I remember going out ice fishing on my old 3 wheeler. Got my auger out made less than 5 turns, and guess what, I was through. I think the good lord helped me to loose about 50 lbs very quick. I tip toed back to my ride and hit light speed very quickly. I would have died for sure no one even within sight. Not good!!
Fuck that, i got goosebumps. Never been on ice but would love to. That fear of falling in ice cold water and the edge keeps breaking so you can't get out is intense! Even from my lounge in aus at 33 Celsius haha
Last winter I went ice fishing and just popped hole through with an axe but I could grip the top and bottom surface of the ice with my hand so roughly 4 to 5 inches. I walked out onto it, but had a couple people visit and stop by on snow mobile, and I didn't really feel safe with them close to me on that particular ice. Definitely can witness climate change in an area where we have drastic change of snow and ice to reasonable summers. One time, ice would be so thick you would need an auger extension. Never again though, not in my life.
This is so sad but my wife taught me how to drive the sled and got a real kick out of not telling me you have to lean your body way over to turn when you're on a hard surface like ice or shallow snow
@@BookumDanno excellent, thank you for the explanation!! Went on a 2-up 30 mile ride today on packed/ridden-on snow and the rear end was pretty warm a few times. Wanted to make sure it was engine heat transfer and not the runners getting roached
We did that one day with an inch or two of water , flipped the sled doin 80 .. slid about a quarter mile .. portage lake .. akron , Ohio trip , then we went to Chautauqua lake in n.y. and chugged in 20 inches of wet snow , next morning was little more firm on the lake and good powder in the woods . Somewhere along the way the damn seat came of the Yamaha , looked for , think a sled head got a good free seat .
Sleds either have studs in the track, or they don't (these do). Most have carbide strips under the skis for turning on ice and hard packed snow. But most are liquid cooled now so they have "ice scratchers" on the skid to kick snow up into the heat exchangers. Plenty of traction on ice with studs and carbides no matter what speed.
I'll never understand why sled riders think it's a boat. They don't float. Physics is on your side, in the right conditions, but it's a dangerous game. Safe Riding.
Ice Road Truckers have more balls and will take their trucks on that ice right there will those fools and beat them in a race. I know one trucker that had his entire rig fall through the ice and he just drove right out of that frozen road he just kept in pedal to the metal and jumped right on up out of that there ice road.

Y'all bitching about it getting hot. Did no one notice how much snow was actually being thrown? These guys have ice scratchers so they can ride on straight ice. Also, clear ice is the safest ice
These guys are pro’s having fun testing sleds, they know what they are doing.
I literally lost my sack watching this don't play so calm
Amazing video. The only ice we have in Louisiana comes with a felony.
Would rather Louisiana than the snow and ice. Would love to be in New Orleans tbh.
I love Louisiana.
Not one reply gives this comment enough credit. LOL fkn hillarious🤣
Black ice is magical Ive driven motocross bikes on black ice ice fish on black ice is incredible good job guys Awesome video👍
Black ice is stronger than blue ice. It's always good to know how thick the ice is and the lake your on.
Wait, how many black guys?
@@shaunradomski8625 lmao
I'll second that!
Weren't you the guy who claimed he was a pro-drifter on the last video? Man you're an e-expert in everything
I could smell burning runners 😆
That familiar wax smell. Lol
Sniff.sniff
Ya that wasn’t snow dust coming off the front sled, it was runner smoke!
The dust was the scratchers sending snow back to cool the engine and get in the tracks
@@FTATF those are called skags. There werent any scratchers on that sled. Looked like they had a studded track, though.
It's amazing how fast it can turn from Ice riding to Water Skipping !!!! Great Vid ! Thank's !!
This is awesome 👌 thank you for sharing!

That looks like a lotta fun, hope to try it one day
That ice looks plenty thick, it’s just crystal clear.
Damn snowmobiler's wheckin good hockey rinks!
That looks so fun!
Just imagine how hot the slides are right now.
Idk how they weren't melting
I'm in MD and planning to go this year in Upstate NY do you know anyone or group I can link up that knows the ice there?
Snowmobiles can actually run on water. My ex’s dad had a friend drown because of it on Lake Chelan. Reckless.
Wooooo sounded like the 10 to 12 second mark is when you hit that thin ice. Hell yeah fun shit
Some nice ice there🙃

I can smell those sliders rn
beautiful
How’s your sliders
Ppl keep saying “his hifax are gone” im new to snowmobiles is that why my tunnel gets hot when im riding on flattened hardened snowy roads
Hyfax are what the track slides on the skid frame, your tunnel gets hot because that’s where the heat exchanger is that cools the engine

Be careful on that ice, if you don't have studs or ice scratchers you'll overheat them babies in a minute.
Yeah you could hear it at the end.
They have studs. Its the slides that over heat & melt.
I don't know much about snow machines but a dirt bike on sand is more stable the faster you go!
Sleds either have studs in the track, or they don't (these do). Most have carbide strips under the skis for turning on ice and hard packed snow. Man that looks fun
And then the slides bind and lock the track up when you got back to shore. 🤦🏻♂️
But KICK ASS vid!!! That was sick looking. 🤣
My bhole tightened up watching this. Can’t imagine theirs didn’t
Clear ice is true strongest ice, not necessarily thin.
At one point it didn't even look like you were moving but you's were shonking on👍

RIP runners!
That was intense
😱👏👍👌🇳🇴
Thats was cool AF
“Hyfax melting smell”
I seen a guy do this he went threw the ice going about 75mph the ice basically decapitated him
I saw a guy get decapitated walking down the street once. The ice was solid and strong, but good comment.
I saw a guy get decapitated whilst getting a hair cut
Saw a guy get decapitated by a rose thorn bush once
I saw a guy get decapitated by Jeffery dahmer
I saw a guy get decapitated by Jon Snow once.
The slides probably stuck to the track when they stopped lol
Right!. That was a long ride with no lube lol.
At first. I thought this was a video game, like super Mario kart.
