Thank you for the subtitles David. Even from a non-Christian perspective it is interesting to see her talking about her faith and how it impacts her life. I have only respect and admiration for her decision to not sign under a major label.
Zashiki Glad you found the video meaningful. I too don’t see eye to eye when it comes to the specifics of her faith and conclusions she draws. However, she seems to be pivoting from motivation and ‘soul’ that are incredibly inspirational. Her artistry as a singer and its impact can’t be separated from her authenticity. She will only do things that align with her convictions and values-and when they are expressed through her out-the-world talent... that’s where the magic happens.
@@dailysohyang3949 Are you a Christian? If you aren't it is difficult to understand how God works in our life. Money and fame are not what He wants for us, though He states clearly that He will take care of all our needs in this life. He wants us to overcome our carnal natures and wrong character, imparted by Satan's influence over the whole world, and become just like Jesus Christ is. That is the Gospel and will result in our being given eternal life, so it is well worth the struggles and sacrifices.
Thank you for the English subtitles. It's so amazing to hear Sohyang's humble words on her struggle but eventual acceptance of her life in the language of the bible. It's also fascinating to hear her description of her last 10 years as wandering in the wilderness as she seeped into the public consciousness and become more well known.
Yes indeed. Working on subtitling her interview helped me to further appreciate and understand where she pivots from. She is a very principled individual. I've heard many saying how they wish Sohyang would pursue bigger platform as a singer (as in working with a commercial contract with an agent), but it is evident from her talk that she can't help but being who she is in faith.

Thank you for the English subtitles. I hope she knows that even though she didn't enjoy Masked Singers or some of those other competitions, it is those that opened the rest of the world to hear her and that we are so blessed to be able to. I also understand her not wanting to sign up to a major label, the music industry can be a slippery slope.

Hi JS. This is David. As we move forward with translating Sohyang contents (vids, articles, etc) I think a team approach would be beneficial. What if we request for a board on POS site where a translation team can collaborate? We could also use a cloud-based document (example: Google doc) so we have each translation piece to go through collaborative funnels of editing steps for better accuracy and efficiency.

Am I reading it right that the producers of Boyz ll Men had the opportunity to sign her to a contract but somehow it didn't work out? does anyone know why? I mean with that talent it's hard to imagine her not getting signed to a record label. Just my opinion ok is it because she is asian?

She could be an international Super Star if she wanted to be but has decided that it would ruin her spiritually, quoting Proverbs 14:12 “There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.”
In a South Korean television interview So Hyang conceded that she struggled with her desire for fame for a number of years, going into the basement in her home numerous times and closing the door so she could complain vehemently to God that He was holding her back from becoming famous due to her health problems and other unforeseeable events. Then she later saw a Korean TV drama where the talented daughter of a very successful businessman was positive she would take over when her father retired. But he left the management of the company to a woman she hated, so she had a fit and lay kicking and screaming on the floor. So as a consequence she does not pursue fame or fortune and actually has no social media presence whatsoever.
What can one say about such a person? She is a literal Wonder Woman! And we need about a billion more just like her!

“Debuting in [the] US was my utmost goal for the past 20 years. But when I got a call from the US agency, I politely rejected, as I realized that what I wanted most was not becoming famous,” she said.
“I think singers are very susceptible to arrogance, especially when they hear the screaming from crowds on stage. It can make you feel like as if you’ve become God.”
“And I’m perfectly okay with sharing my music via CZcams, which can reach tens of millions of people all over the world without making me feel stuck up. Maybe that’s why I was born in this era.”
So Hyang is just the most amazing singer, Christian and human being. She is beautiful both inside and out, and so humble, with a stage charisma, facial expressions and smile that is off the charts.
Sohyang said in a December 2021 interview that at the same time as she was in California taking several singing lessons with Seth Riggs, she met the producer of Boyz II Men and he spent a week with her teaching her some vocal techniques. It is actually quite hard to find out just how Sohyang became the best female singer in the world. We know from her own testimony that she started as a teenager imitating Mariah Carey's "Music Box" CD and moving on to the other big singers like Whitney and Celine, but who taught her what and when, or even if she had any other instructors than those I mentioned, is not out there. That I can find, anyway. If I am ever so fortunate as to meet Sohyang I am definitely going to try to find out these details! Ha, ha! 💘😎😉🎸

I know of one lady who says she has seen the video of the concerts. But they are, for some reason, not being released to the public. As Daily Sohyang says, if Blue Note Tokyo, or maybe even David Foster himself, does not want them released they just will not see the light of day. That's the music business! 🤷♂

Ha, ha! God is too clever to be taken in by our schemes. He's seen them all before! Your desire for So Hyang's international success is very good but it has to be done in God's own timing--if that is His will for her. If it is, there is nothing that can stop it. If it is not, there is nothing that can force it to happen. God wants us to develop good character that will last for eternity and make us happy, and if success in the music business is going to hamper that then He will tamp down our desires and successes in that area. "Love over gold" is an old saying but it is an absolute priority with God and how He works in our lives.

SlipperyTube Yup. For this occasion, Sohyang was speaking with hosts from a show intended for the Christian audience.
Without God I highly doubt she will be able to pull through. Her health has been on and off. There were times where she performed on stage even while suffering from pneumonia and being told not to even speak by her doctor. In the king of masked singer she had to eat meat(she doesn't really eat meat) to gain energy because she was really weak. After every performance on Immortal Songs, she would complain that she was extremely exhausted(if you watch the full episode). She might appear like this beast of a vocalist on stage but backstage she is still a frail human being. As you can see, Sohyang is battling with hardships and her religion is what keeps her alive and kicking, a sense of purpose, a reason to live life to the fullest. I feel like it has a massive impact on her singing as well, because the emotions you feel from her singing are sincere. Plus the show itself is Christian oriented. You can even see the Jesus fish and cross behind her.
The interview is from a christian TV program. The topic of discussion being God is only to be expected. When she’s on secular programs, she mostly talk about her music.
Every Christian goes through trials. If you aren't a Christian it is hard to understand why God would do this but He does it to develop excellent character in us according to His standards. God does not care about this world's standards, because they aren't His. They are Satan's standards and they are spiritual poison. Satan has deceived the whole world into believing that he doesn't even exist ... but he does, and he wants to destroy humanity altogether. You, me, everyone.
Jesus said that Satan was "a liar and a murderer from the beginning", that is to say from the time that Jesus created him as a perfect great arch-angel. Satan, whose name back then was Lucifer, rebelled against God's reign over the universe and tried to take over the entire creation. He was defeated, as was inevitable because God knew Satan's rebellion was a possibility when He created him. Satan was confined to the earth along with the 1/3 of angels that rebelled with him, and that is where we are today. All the evil we see around us originated in the angelic realm.
It is a very long story to be brought up to speed, as it were, on the true history of the creation and why we are the profoundly insane planet that we are. But when the world as a whole reaches the point that we are about to annihilate ourselves through war, famine and disease, and that appears to be in the near future, Jesus will return and put a complete end to it. It is God's hope that the record of human rulership under the unseen influence of Satan will convince those who have lived throughout human history to begin to take Him and His way of living seriously. He told us the truth from the very beginning of the Bible yet we humans simply don't (or won't) believe it. But God can't lie. It is impossible for Him to do so.
Satan will be imprisoned in the "Abyss" and Jesus will take over rulership of the world, along with the humans who are converted and follow His ways until they either die or are changed into immortal spiritual beings at the first resurrection, which will happen when He returns. To be part of the first resurrection is what every Christian strives for. It is our "prime directive" so to speak.
I know this sounds incredible but I assure you it is real, and that is what God and Jesus are doing with the lives of each successive generation of true Christians. There is a lot more to the story but that is a thumbnail sketch of it, and I hope it will give you more insight into why So Hyang lives her life the way she does.
