@@Poseidon4862. it's most likely because of the ethical reasons behind pony rides at petting zoos, like the devs' reasons for not including larger marine mammals like whales and dolphins.

Worth mentioning that there’s no item workshop. Considering that feature marked the end of Planet Coaster, we may still be waiting for the feature in a future pack. This pack is also priced at £7.99, the same amount as most other packs.

The appeal of a petting zoo is in its interactivity. The Barnyard pack gives us some of that, but not a lot. Guests can pet the animals, and wash their hands afterwards, and that’s essentially it. No feeding stations, playgrounds, tractor rides, corn mazes, horseback riding. Not even an outhouse! There was so much potential with this pack, and yet I feel that by trying to implement more animals into the pack, Frontier has just stretched those possibilities thin. And to be honest, most of these animals aren’t even needed for a pack like this, since we already have good alternatives to the goat, donkey, and alpaca. Or at the very least they could have given us more thematically relevant pieces like crops and wood pieces for actual barns, instead of just reusing the same ugly wood and stone textures from the base game that they’ve already reused in both the Europe and Twilight packs. All around, Petting zoos were a great idea, they were just poorly executed.
Been out of the loop with Planet Zoo for a bit, and this is a very surprising and very welcome DLC in my book! I’ve always had the most fun with these games when I can “make what I know”. Big fancy zoos are not very common in my neck of the woods, but barnyard animal petting zoo type places are. I’ve been secretly wanting this kind of pack for this game for a while! Might have to get back into the game now…
Yesterday i thought about a petting zoo and farming animals and now we should get this?! My medieval zoo can now open!!!
This is obviously a smallish pack to balance out the high development of getting console out, this is so obviously not the last pack, calm down everyone

Not the most exciting animals perhaps, but i have been waiting for a petting zoo dlc. It's very common to see in zoo's and at least brings some new animations/interactions for the guests with it :)
yeah the guest stuff is great, but really not part of the DLC. so you can´t really add that in

I’ll admit I’m excited petting zoos are confirmed. I’ve felt just having llamas and peafowl is extremely lacking so getting to add a children’s area is exciting.
I must admit this dlc is very much unexpected for me but has me quite excited, surprisingly.

I am SO EXCITED for this to come out and see what people come up with! I also wonder if you'll be able to interact even further with the farm animals, like with collecting/selling eggs, milk, wool, etc in order to properly care for the farm animals!

Well. I can understand, what people dislike about using only animals, we somehow already have. But i like it and was waiting for it all the time. Instead of just getting Reskins i think we got a cool new theme for our zoos.
Sure, other animals are more impressive or some are less represented. But man, after the tropical and the oceana dlc, i wanted something different. And now with the Eurasia and the this DLC a animalgarden or tierpark is now worth to make.
I think a new theme brings more than some specific animals, which can be exchanged easily. Its not about the species, but about the environment. I like to build themed based zoos.

Other than that, It's a cute pack coming with very much requested petting mechanics. Seems like almost everyone is in agreement it is an alright pack if not LAST pack >_> Considering there will be another dlc for JWE2 after recent one(march) judging by steam db, maybe same will happen for PZ and we'll see true farewell pack in June, sometime afterwards JWE2 DLS? Thought, I forgot about promised LAST live stream this week q_q oh no!

Well I like it! I like it a lot! And honestly it does not feel like a "final" update.... I would be surprised if there are not more updates coming to PZ!
Agreed 100%. If this is the last DLC this is a letdown. But if not, its a solid pack with a long-requested theme.
Could some animals have been better choices? Sure.
I think the part people are missing here is that this isn't a full DLC, it's an ANIMAL PACK. They gave us scenery because you need scenery to go with a barnyard pack.60 pieces isn't that much compared to the 200+ we normally get.

I agree with you Rudy. Hopefully we have more packs to come because this is so extremely disappointing. Not only a full pack of domestic species, but they’re all clones and very boring. At least the update looks great, so something to look forward to. Otherwise I’m so sad that this could be how this wonderful game ends.
The wagon was in the base game: India theme.
This isn't all that unexpected for me since I know a lot of people have wanted a petting zoo pack for a long time, myself included, but I think the animal choices could have been better. Here it is much more common to have african pygmy goats in petting zoos, and I think those would have been more visually interesting with more color morph options than the alpine goat. And while I'm excited about the sheep, highland cattle, and chickens, I think we should have gotten a shetland pony and rabbits instead of either the donkey, alpaca, or pig, which are effectively reskins. Heck, I would have even taken two kinds of cattle. I do love the highland cow but it would be nice to have a traditional dairy cow like a holstein too.
I would love playgrounds. At least something like swings for the children. We could build the Zoom Zoo from gemany and everything!

So happy about this .. I can do a proper Children's zoo ... all I am missing are two equine . Shetland pony and a draft horse .. but other than that, this is amazng for me.. The Highland cattle I am most excited for.
MEGA!!! Petting zoo, finally!!! It's been missing the whole time, it's in every zoo. But it's so sad if this was really the last dlc!? I would like to have playgrounds too:-) Birds, fish, etc. will certainly only come with Planet Zoo 2, so they are good selling points for the successor... Thanks for the video, Rudi!! Then Frontier can finally concentrate on Planet Coaster 2 🙂
“Not a good DLC” respectfully, I think I disagree. I’ve been building “not a zoo” stuff in PZ and farms are something I’ve wanted. Also, people walking off path? Seems like a big deal. Do the people in these shots look “less weird”? I think maybe so. It could be that they are testing another direction for the PZ mechanics. (Farming, Ranch Sims are sorta popular, so maybe they will spin off in a new direction?) The chickens are super realistic.
I do agree, but what you mentioned is part of the Free Update, this is why I am hesitant. I made the same mistake praising the Aquatic DLC for way to long for its deep diving, which effectively was a free mechanic.
Disappointed there’s no horses, but a petting zoo area in my zoos will be amazing

Just can't see this being the last pack, I think they took a short-cut on this using more reskins because of the Console edition being released. I think they will finish on an Americas pack as they have done Oceania, Eurasia and the next logical one would be Americas. Quite a few animals on the meta list are from the Americas.
I for one am hyped about this pack. @RudiRennkamel, don't you think some of these animals should get a place at Hirscheck?

I really like the chickens, I think they’re so cool. And I’m excited to see what the cows look like, the pigs are also pretty cool but we just got two pigs so it’s kinda weird to get another one. I feel like the alpaca wasn’t really a necessary inclusion, And I don’t understand why we got both a goat and a sheep.
Edit: I care so little about the donkeys, that I forgot about them. We already have wild donkeys, they’re super cool, we really did not need domesticated ones, would’ve much preferred a domesticated horse breed.

I've already done a petting zoo sort of place using animals we already had, and used the workshop for much of decor, which is fantastic. So this is not terribly exciting.
As for the interacting mechanic, eeehh. I already have so many issues with walkthrough habitats from animals being stressed that I generally avoid them when I can.
We need bunnies, guinea pigs, ducks, geese, ponies and horses! I would also love being able to "hire" dogs and cats that go around and interact with guests to bring up entertainment levels.

Sorry you are split. We've been asking for this, I have been hoping for this. They only release like 3 or 4 packs a year, they can't release everything at once and when we want. I am so excited to finally get this and to be able to add it to my zoo. I love going into petting zoos when I am at a zoo.
As I said, when its not the last, then we are all happy. Cause then I really like it! I am just hoping its not the last, because it would be a weird sign-off

Not even a little bit on my radar, but looking at what we're getting, i can feel the gears turning a bit again. I dont think there is a good "send off" pack arrangement, but if this has to be our last, i think I'm at peace with it.
I'm down with domestics but I'm not a fan of some of the breed picks. Too skewed towards Western Europe--the goat should have been an African pygmy/Nigerian dwarf (the quintessential petting zoo pick) and if the scenario is set in NZ they needed to have the kunekune pig. Conversely the generic American donkey should have been a Sardinian.

Turns out Frontier has no clue about cues. I am not generally against a Petting-zoo Pack, but Farmyard is a weird choice. The Pack could be much better with some more sophisticated animals, for example Guinea Fowl insted of Chicken, Potbellied Pigs instead of the pig they are giving us. The goat and the Alpaca are okay, but couldn't care less of the Sheep, Donkey and Highland Cow. I would have preferred a Duck, Guinea Pigs and a Yak instead...Some animals you could also use in other areas of the zoos, like Asian and African themed areas. That would have made the DLC much more diverse...
i rly dont get what a planet zoo 2 game will give us more than this game , i mean the only think that migh give us is flying pens for birds ? (think that im sure can be implemented in the current state of the game ) the only think changes rly is that with the new PL2 will just have all the previous animals from all the old DLC in one . DLCs will also be the same think ( animal/scenery packs ) so i dont see the appeal of a second pz 2 game
PlanetZoo is like Sims4 a game that have to give unlimited content to its playerbase and every month realizes new stuff to play , so as long there are animals to be Added (and trust me there are tons of animals ) and as long the community keeps supporting that i dont see any reason for frontier to dump the game and start a new one just for the shake of having a number 2 on his Title
There is no rational reason for a Planet Zoo 2....only for Frontier (or more precisely only for their shareholders) to make more money... To milk the part of the community that will buy everything the company releases once again.
There won't be any real benefit for the community in general (it will just cost us once again a lot of money for basically the same game with maybe 1-2 improvements we could potentially get for the already existing game.....if they just wanted to).
i mean looking from companys point i dont see them waste money on something that is still works and sells well to start again throwing money for something that exists they can print money just by adding more animals to the game and and people will buy it .The game is at the point that can just print money with very little effort just buy adding animals and some new mechanics now and then as a treat . Most of this DLCs animals are just reskins the riggin and animation is reused from previous additions . this is a live service game as long u pay and support their content they will keep it coming and we all will be happy
A big reason to do a 2nd game would be an updated engine that is capable of more such as a better pathing system, better animations and AI, etc. There's more to this than just animal selection and it would certainly make sense at some point. But a theoretical 2nd game is years down the line, maybe 2030ish. The game as is could keep going but it will run it's course eventually, be it just one more pack or another year or 2's worth.
I think its a cool thing for peting areas, but im not shure if they integrate good in a normal Zoo,i doesn't makes lot sence to have a Chicken and a Lion habitat side by side

The wing feathers on the chickens look very 2D PNG. If this is truly the last pack PZ is ending on a major flop.

I like it, yet Im dissapointed at the same time. If this is the last dlc.... well I hoped PZ would leave with a bang, not with a small poof. I get it, a lot of people requested this, but a lot of people requested aviaries and marine animals :D I guess I will buy old dlc Im missing to support the game, but I will wait with this for a sale.

Frontier has been SILENT since then...
They eventually told us we would be happy with what was to come and told us nothing else...hyping up expectations.
And gave us a pack that is BY FAR the most controversial, since it simultaneously ignored the Meta-Wishlist AND ignored the community (Aquariums/Aviaries).
Speaking of the community is very vocal about how they feel about ungulates, and this pack gives us 6...
- Do we already have bovine models? Yes. (buffalo, and bison)
- Do we already have donkey models? Yes. (somali wild donkey)
- Do we already have a chicken model...Galliformes are in the game (peacocks) so basically YES.
- Do we already have pigs in the game? Yes. (Babirusa, Warthog, Red River Hogs)
This pack was designed to KILL THE MODDING COMMUNITY..
Frontier DOES NOT WANT to give us Birds or Aquariums, but MORE IMPORTANTLY Frontier does not want us to use MODS FOR FREE.
So they release a pack of clones....in order to make money off of rigs that modders have ALREADY MADE hahahaha
This pack was a blatant cash grab, and honestly I hope it sells poorly and the person responsible has to explain it to shareholders/management why they thought this was going to sell well.
Maybe since they are ALL CLONES it was very easy to make?
I mean modders have already made these animals FOR FREE.

I mean, we can say its not your pack. But please, keep in mind Devs etc working hard for a game that is way over its usual lifespan. And trying their best. I gave my arguements why I am having mixed feelings - but its far far away from being a "f*** joke"
