Interesting to get a look at what that area looks like now, it's one of the interesting parts of much of the hunting trips seeing what places look like now. The tracks wasn't benched then, just being re-routed and work had just started, didn't recognise it. An accurate common calibre rifle (appearance & price don't make it hit deer), .308 are hard to pass up, and put good mounts & scope on it if going to be serious. Something a trophy at 200m will need to think hard about before posing too long. & weaners make the best venison, don't have to pretend they are nice and know you are carrying out sausage meat.

My guess of where you were was right. I’ve been into Pohokura a few times. There are a few of the Whio ducks up there too. I recognised the valley where you parked the truck. 👍

Yep, Pohokura is an awesome spot. 👌 Te Hoe catchment has a great Whio population and pristine water! Beautiful
