  • On Sunday 3rd July we took a trip across Suffolk to Heveningham Hall for the long awaited return of the concours event. Classics, vintage and modern supercars were displayed in all their beauty on the manicured tiered lawns behind the hall. Where else could you see a 1929 Austin Seven 'Chummy' alongside the latest Bugatti Chiron Super Sport or a 1933 Lancia Dilambda special next to the Goodwood record breaking McMurtry fan car?

Terrific knowledgeable commentary thank you! Too many folks these days running around car shows and events that simply shoot video. This is different, its like being at a museum with a good guide.

Thank you very much for your kind words, it’s very much appreciated. I guess it’s knowledge I’ve accumulated after years of going to car events since being a small child! Nice to be able to share it with fellow enthusiasts.

At 4:46, you bring back a really Scary Moment in my Life in the late Summer of '00. I was tasked with being the 'General Handy-Man for the Inn Atop Equinox, in Sunderland, VT.. My Wife also worked there in Scott's kitchen as Prep, and as needed as Hostess. We routinely climbed the Toll-Road in her '94 Mustang, which, while no-where near as much fun as Using my '91 Saab 900 (which had a proper 5-spd. Tranny), gave my wife the ability to run Errands in the Rustang, as that piece-of-Ford had an Automatic transmission. Anyhow one rather Foggy Tuesday morning, we were on our steady way UP the road. We got to the 'tight-S-turns' about 2/3rds of the way up, when, HALF IN MY LANE, Came a Barreling, HUGE (with a Union Jack on the SIDE, as-Shown! 'shivvver') old 1930's Vintage BENTLEY around a Hairpin Corner!! I dodged Right, hard enough to put 2-3 of my wheels into the sloping shoulder, and we Missed each Other by less-than a Foot!! I had to 'power-it' out of the abrupt 'ditch-slider', but luckily my Rally Experience kept us on-the-road. Seems that Daft driver was 'Practicing' for the Upcoming 50th Annv. of the Equinox Hill-Climb Event!! IN THE FOG!! Looking back, I probably should've at least creased his Running Boards/Fenders, since 1/3 of his CAR was IN MY LANE!!
Dang pompous Brits... Don't ya know that TRUCK is for OFF-ROAD Racing?!

Wow Eric, whilst reading your story I was worried how it was going to end! Scary stuff but thank goodness all was okay. Those Bentleys are massive things and as we all know Bugatti himself described them as ‘the world’s fastes lorries’. Shame the Bentley driver wasn’t more considerate.
