Our water down here sure is ugly, but Galveston is fun!
Seaweed…….
Nestle Chocolate milk with a hint of sea salt.
Miss'ippi's fault.
As a newly transplanted Texan I'm here to tell you Galveston is more beautiful water included than any beach I've experienced on the east coast and I'm speaking NJ clear to Fla
@@heatherjackson5840it is about as good as any other beach in my opinion I've been to north Carolina and Florida beaches and been to the gulf of Mexico in cozumel. I just went on a trip to galveston and it was a nice place nice environment classic Beach vibe. I do like Texas been there a few times as well San Antonio was my favorite but the Beach is the best and seafood.
Galveston is awesome! Great history, architecture, restaurants, vibe... And, the water is not always brown.
I've Seen it @ times, Green and Blue! 😎👍
I'm new to Texas. I've been watching your channel for the past year and I didn't realized how much Texas has to offer! I came from Mississippi/Louisiana.
Welcome home! 🤠
Same I'm from VA and I now know I can do a multitude of activities and trips and never ever leave the state of texas
OHMYGOSH! I spent one fun and delicious afternoon at Benno's when I was 22.
Now, I'm 60, living in northern Michigan.
Great memories. 💜
Unfortunately Benno's is not what it once was.
Kinda like The Upper peninsula and the beauty cut down and casinos. Had to sell my place up there.
This is nuts. The last time I went to Galveston a couple of years ago, I more or less went to same places. This was great.
I’m a 6 generation native Texan. I was born in Houston(1970) Spent most summers in Galveston. As I got older the rivers of central Texas called me! Then I started moving west into central Texas. Then, work moved me to deep east Texas! Then work moved me all the way into far west Texas! Wow! I found my people and my forever home! I’ve also been to south Texas , but never north Texas! As a native, I’m terrified of tornado alley! I’ve been in several crazy weather thingys in Texas and that’s why I call the place I’m in now, my forever home! No tornadoes or mosquitoes here, but luckily, still in Texas! God bless Texas!
I grew up going to Galveston, so yeah, in my heart, it's the BEST beach. ❤
Love shrimp and stuff....Planning to return to Galveston this year 2024 all the way from the UK.
I’m a native Texan that has been all over the UK. welcome! You will be treated well here :)
I really hope you enjoy your trip to Galveston. I grew up there.💪🏼😎
@@ThatGypsyBoy I always enjoyed Dickens on the Strand. I don't know how old you are but I remember Tuffy's Seafood restaurant on East Beach.
So happy that you covered “The Face on the Wall”. I’ve seen it at night, however I don’t remember which panel he was in. AND…. You got the story right!
My home. Things have changed since this episode. Come us us.
Gaido’s is my favorite restaurant to eat at whenever I go to Galveston. It’s so good, right on the Seawall, and has a classy atmosphere but is still family friendly. Moody Gardens was absolutely amazing! Just went last week and it was beautiful and so much to see.
That Bishops house is the most lavish Victorian home I've ever seen. Incredible!
I would love to see it and the tall ship. Great episode over all Chet!
Im here right now on the island watching this. lol love watching the Day tripper.
I love Galveston
My daughter was born in Galveston ❤
🤠🤠🤠 Love Galveston 🏖️🌊
Lol you cracked me up with the seaweed on your hair
Well howdy! My first video. This ain't yer average travel channel. I respect the work. I lived in Texas five years and did not see enough.
"Chuck brought me here" 🤣
Somebody send this video to Charles Barkley hatin azz!! 🤣🤣
galveston looks cool place to visit
I love your intros lol. And I also am amazed about how much there is to do in just a couple cities. I didn't even know this much, even though I LIVE in Texas. You know what they say, everything's bigger in Texas. Tnx, daytripler, nice seeing your vids.
I lived there for 20 years and agree, the shrimp Po-Boy is tops!
Exceptionally well done.
On the way to the Island. Love all your videos!!!
Hand made food in a tourist location is such a treat nowadays! Great video!
The beach is still fun despite the water not being blue. That amount of seaweed is not normal occurrence here. We have the Galveston Pier, 2 piers for fishing, great bike riding along the boardwalk, and plenty of restaurants for any palatable taste. Plus, 30min from Galveston is NASA.
We live in Houston. I take one day off in the summer and head down to the beach for a solo day of relaxing. Good food, ocean air….it’s always wonderful. ❤
Leave it to Chet and the Daytripper crew to make even Galveston look fun/noce 😂
Galveston is one of a kind, and has incredible history. I’ve been there to do disaster recovery and to visit the sights.
Oh no, now everyone will know about Shrimp N Stuff. And Benno's. Just don't cover Gilhooleys.
Or Topwater
You had this in the vault. The Hotel Galvez has been pink for like two years now.
like your video .I been drive around Galveston and seat down see the bird fly look so good for elder people
Great episode
Gave our secret away. Shrimp and Stuff is awesome.
Fisherman's Wharf....suggestion from a local
Awesome video, makes me miss living here, especially always loved La King's Confectionery, and surprised you didn't show it on the Strand. Guessing it wasn't open while you were there, definitely recommend checking it out to everyone who gets to visit Galveston.
The rainforest was my ultimate favorite absolutely beautiful
Finally!
I visited Dallas for the first time EVER and it was PERFECT!! 😍 Definitely my favorite city ever!!!, you should guide us more of where to rent bikes and where exactly does the trinity overlook park starts?
2:24 ahh memories 😊
Yall
Filmed during one of the worst seaweed years! Been much better since then
This video is from June 2011. There is a brief moment of the menu at the "Shrimp n Stuff" restaurant he visits, and those prices are soooo much lower than today's prices. For example, tea was approximately $1.50 back then, but it is now more like $3.50.
I love your bracelet 🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼
That Chariots of Fire intro! 😂😂😂
Finally!! You made it ta G county💯
Yes! Except that this was filmed in 2010.
@@TheDaytripperI hope all of your crew is still doing fine, excellent teamwork and dynamic right there, shows in the final result! Cheers, good day to all of you folks (including the folks reading this)!
The problem with Galveston is the wave and the people who use the beach. They just throw their waste anywhere
I rarely see trash on the beach and when I do I throw it away. There are trash cans everywhere its not a problem
You need Chariots of Fire for your running sequence lol
Not sure I like you telling everyone about Shrimp N Stuff, but also find Maceos and order a Muffuletta sandwich!
I noticed the life span was short, looking at the birthdates and death dates on the tombstones. I wonder why? Great video!
There is definitely a stench on Galveston island.
Brown water, I don't know about that.
The current of the Mississippi river stirs up the sand.
Shrimp and Stuff Downtown is even better. I believe it’s own by the same owner. It’s have more than fried food. One of my favorite places to eat on the island.
You should go to Kemah someday too.
He did
Good advice from yo momma; nothing much good beyond the 3rd sandbar… Riptides, predator highway, feeding zone, etc.
A "poboy" is made on FRENCH BREAD (preferably Leidenheimer), not a hoagie or sub sandwich bread! 🥖 ⚜️
Love that it shows the true poopoo water it is
The Galveston postcard mural isn't on the Yaga's wall. When was this filmed😅😂
2011
I was hoping that this would give me a reason to go to Galveston
I will also add living in far west Texas where don’t have delicious fresh seafood and that is what I miss the most. I do not miss the humidity or mosquitoes or tornadoes. ❤
We* not where
I live at the skatepark on 27th
Should have gone to Gaidos Seafood
I go to Galveston every year
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
KATIES SEAFOOD......HARBORSIDE....OLD SCHOOL..GOODNESS!!! I LOVE YOU GALVESTON!!!
only beach fun
You live on hogaboom that's right down the road from me.
Best food is on the strand in Galveston.
I muted the tv behind my back completely by accident to watch your show
I live in Houston and Galveston has lots of restaurants but the water is disgusting! Don’t let this video fool you
How do you look at that muddy polluted water and think oh wow i cant wait?
It's not always muddy and most Texans don't live near the Gulf like the Fine folks of Dallas, The Panhandle and El Paso
@@texasrangers4 yeah one day every 3 or 4 years it's clear but that still doesn't help with the industrial pollution and the sewage that runs into it, Galveston Bay is closed for oyster fishing every year due to fecal bacteria and flesh eating bacteria, there is also a chemical release or barge collision or shipwreck weekly that dumps toxic chemicals. Texas rivers are the most polluted in the state was supposedly the Trinity and the Nature's being the two most polluted rivers in the country, all of those dump into the Gulf
P. S. That water was always considered nasty, but us Texas gals knew if we wanted clear skin from pimples and moist fresh skin too…hit the beach! Humidity in Houston is real…salt water heals your face! Most beautiful women are in Texas!
Great episode! Can someone tell me in the Moody Gardens clip, what song, band is playing in the background?? 18:41
It's a great song!
One of my favorite places in Texas but the original history needs to get out because the world has forgot about it
I don't know if I would be able to trust the Galveston water , if I walk on the
beach , I won't be Bare Foot ,
i wouldn't swim in that water.
Are you afraid of sand?
Fishtails restaurant
Somebody should show this to Charles Barkley.
Why? To prove him right about how nasty the water looks
Lived close to Galveston all my life and can count on my hands and feet the amount of times I’ve been. Not impressed. Live 20 miles away now, definitely never go in the water, only go if I have an appointment. There is one restaurant I absolutely love there is an amazing bakery. Definitely leave before sundown.
Galveston > Port A 💯
I'm not sure how old this guy is but he's getting a little long in the tooth for the antics
The real history is the land is stolen from my ancestors ATAKAPA ISHUK AND THE KARANKAWA NATIVES
Galveston…..America’s most disappointing destination 😂
Galveston beach is disgusting. It’s the Lake Lewisville of the Texas coast. The water will literally stain your clothes.
Galveston beach is an inlet so the water will not be as blue as a peninsula or direct coastal waters, and whenever seems polluted turn your gaze toward Mexico.
But whatever can we do gain your lofty approval? On behalf of all Galvestonians and Texans in general, we do so sincerely apologize for our geography and where nature and God placed Galveston on Terra Firma… Lewisville huh, sounds like a smug, arrogant, elitist Dallasite to me.
@camerama lol so true. I'm from "fancy" Austin and I love Galveston. Yeah, the beach can have some bad days but its still great. I went there a year after Ike (which of course was awful) but it really cleaned the beach. The cleanest I've ever seen it. Also, it's one of the coolest downtowns I've ever been to. Anyway, just shouting out to a beautiful place :)
You need a hug
The water looks real nice
I wish he would stop all the idiotic antics. Not even children find it funny.
Gaidos?
