    Great job on the video. I suggest if you have them to use flat nose pliers. They get much better traction on the staples. Avoid using screwdrivers to wedge them out also. Good way to poke a hole in your wall. Also Goo Gone is great for removing adhesive and cleaning. That stuff is also safe for your paint surfaces.

    What's your reason for using self leveling Dicor instead of the non self leveling? I thought you don't use the self leveling on the side of the RV b/c it runs.

    • @HaleyFamily
      @HaleyFamily  Před 3 lety

      The reason is I know that is will stick to both the fiberglass and the rubber. You can you other caulks, but I just prefer Dicor. It doesn't self level as much as you would think, once it has been smashed down into the cracks.

    Great Video. My top seal has two layers. There is one on top of the slide that has a channel for the "D" seal. There is another one under that one that seams to connect to the the frame of the RV itself above the opening for the slide. It seams to wrap around the frame of the RV and I can't get it off. Any ideas how to pull it off? Thanks

    • @HaleyFamily
      @HaleyFamily  Před 4 lety +1

      Good question and to be honest CZcams can be your best friend. Try looking up your particular make and model of RV for a video. There might be some hidden screws inside of the seals that have been sealed over or something. Also, sometimes you can contact the manufacture if the owners manual doesn't help. I can say from experience if the seal doesn't come off with just a little tug there is something holding them on.

      Yah I have same thing going on. This wiper seal is a huge pie’s that goes way inside of the camper and its a big complex piece.. nothing like the one in the video. I know cuz I’ve already pulled a piece of it out.

    • @MikeYoung-bg5sw
      @MikeYoung-bg5sw Před 10 měsíci

      @@stillamitchinmybook6320 You may have a "H" seal which is what I had. Steele Rubber Products RV Products catalog shows an example of a "H" seal and shows where you have to cut the old seal off. Then you install a new seal much like in this video. I replaced the outside part of our "H" seal, inside is in good shape.

    Was there just one staple put in? What does it go into? Fiberglass?

    • @HaleyFamily
      @HaleyFamily  Před 3 lety

      I put about 25 to 30 samples in one section. So on our camper there is a separate plastic trim that goes all the way around the slid that is then attached to the fiberglass. The staples go into the plastic trim and not the fiberglass. Thanks so much for watching!

  • @daneast

    I have a 13' slide that I'm replacing the top seal on. Do you think 1 tube of Dicor is enough to do 13 linear feet? Have to order online so I need get the right amount ahead of time, but I also don't want to order more than I need.

    • @HaleyFamily
      @HaleyFamily  Před 3 lety +1

      Depends, I usally put it on pretty thick. Our big slid is 13' as well and it took 3 tubes to do the top and both sides. So...ummm maybe lol.

    @robertwatkins8220 Před 3 lety +2

    We have had Class A motorhomes in the past but this is our first RV with slides. The inside seal on the big slide is torn, has holes, and missing pieces. Even the good areas don't look like it seals. I don't believe it is the correct seal. How do I find out what seal is correct for my Tiffin Allegro?

    • @HaleyFamily
      @HaleyFamily  Před 3 lety

      Check the owners manual there is usually a section specifically for the slides and it should have a parts list with part numbers. Once you have the part number its is pretty easy to find them there are TONS of websites. If you can't find the part numbers in the manual I'd call a Tiffin specific dealership. They should be able to look up that information for you and maybe even order the parts. They will of course try to talk you into having them install them, but most dealerships FOREVER. Thanks for watching and happy camping!
