  • Kawp Kook Krup for joining me today on this flight!
    (By the way, in the intro of this video you’ll find a teaser of video’s to come soon!😜)
    As Asia is slowly opening up to the world I thought it would be an excellent idea to take some flights around there.
    While it being a detour, I decided to transit in Narita as it’s the closest I’ll get to Japan for now.
    I had some of my favorite Tonkotsu Ramen at the airport and took Thai Airways to Bangkok, one of the foodie capitals of the world!
    Come and join me on this excellent airline. It’s one of the few ones still giving unmatched comfort to the Economy Class passengers.
    Pd. Yes there are some typos! I know Austrian doesn’t have the 300ER😂
    Today we are showcasing you the following flight:
    From: Tokyo Narita International Airport, Japan
    To: Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport, The Kingdom of Thailand.
    Flight Number: TG643
    Aircraft Type: Boeing B777-300ER
    Registration: HS-TKN
    Flight Time: 05:45
    Don’t forget to like and subscribe if you enjoyed our video!
    Feel free to leave a comment with your opinion and feedback.
    Have a nice one!

    Thai Airways International is my favourite.
    I first flew it in
    1969. August 53 YEARS AGO
    From Tokyo Haneda Airport Flight
    T G 601
    With stopovers in
    Osaka
    Taipei Taiwan ROC
    Then Hong Kong
    I still keep the Thai Airways postcards
    One stainless steel
    Spoon and Knife as
    Souvenir.
    The flight used
    The France
    Sud Aviation
    Caravelle medium range Jet plane
    With two Rolls Royce rear fuselage mounted jet engines
    Capacity 74 passengers
    Two abreast left and right
    With one single Aisle in between
    .
    Quite a long memory.

    Another great video Thai is a sad story , always had wonderful crew .Once flying out of Shanghai on a Thai Airbus 340-600 ,after push back we had engine issues and was stuck inside the aircraft for 3 hours - Crew went extra to make our flight very comfortable with full drinks and food service . Narita is a very spotter friendly airport from the viewing gallery on top

    • @TheLayoverAviation
      @TheLayoverAviation  Před rokem +1

      While it’s a sad story and there are countless of good hard working employees, I do think, and forgive me, that if these situations did not exist the aviation world wouldn’t be that interesting at all.
      Bear in mind that I’m sure almost every other airline has had/has been through similar things too..
      I always wonder what decisions I would make if there was a bucket of sweaty money in between😝
      As you can see, the crew made my day. I’m highly grateful.
      I hope to be back in Narita soon, specially during the windy days. My to go hotel there has incredible views over the final approach path and I could sit hours and hours at breakfast.
      Thanks for writing Saud!

    • @TheLayoverAviation
      @TheLayoverAviation  Před rokem +2

      Or they just should start selling those sandwiches everywhere else. I don’t know why the Japanese make it so good and the rest is unable.:
      And while I would love an egg sando on all flights; I don’t really trust airlines chilling them properly.. Would be risky.
      The worst that can happen to me on a flight is my stomach having a mind of its own😂

    When I used to live in Japan, I drove and visited to a small shrine called Toho Shrine, which is located at the end of Runway 34R and just north of the persistent farmer. It was quite surreal to do your prayers while jets and heavies flew above your head, let alone the multiple CCTV cameras watching you (Japanese police want to make sure you aren't some protester from back in the day, hence the multiple tall chain fences and towers haha)
    Despite Japan not fully opening up at time of writing, its good to see some activity at the airport, and just a sign of things that re-opening day is coming soon.
    As always, another detailed trip report; your videos are one of my favourites to watch and I hope (rather attempt again) to do my own trip reports soon! Some special flights coming up for me; going to SIN and DXB being some of them! :D

    I don’t like rollercoasters and the feeling in my stomach. I don’t like to fly for the same reason and I can’t relax and only sit and feel every bit of movement the plan does.
    Yesterday we booked tickets to Bangkok. Done this trip one time before and and prefer the bigger planes cause they runs smoother. So in March we will be going with the B777-300ER from Copenhagen with Thai airways.
    And because I don’t like flying I’m scrolling trough videos of the plane to make me feel a little bit better.
    Long story short, it was a long video but great and informative content I haven’t seen from others about this plane.

    Awesome review ty so much! I'm not gonna lie.. I love those seaweed wrapped rice snacks.. The salmon are my favorite :) Your meal looked pretty good on this flight. This widebody Thai airways plane looks pretty nice. The only Thai wide body I've flown in the past was a 330 in their business class CNX to BKK. But you had great food, entertainment screens and room! I flew a bunch of their a321 320 recently and those regional plane lack IFE. Still great Thai service though. Um I used to favore Chang but now I'm a Leo fan! I wonder if we crossed paths in BKK airport, I was there so much in the last month hah! Thanks again!

      Thanks for the correction Douglas, a small typo as the 3 is next to the 2.. But in the aviation world it’s a big change!
      I’m glad it’s correct on the second shot of the Austrian B777😅
      More coming out very soon!

    Maybe the double ding for Boeing to inform crew about takeoff is by switching thes seatbelt sign on and off only? There is a separate call button for Airbus in the cockpit, seatbelt sign on and off not required.

    • @TheLayoverAviation
      @TheLayoverAviation  Před 5 měsíci

      You’re partially right. A double ding is done manually the same on both planes, with the seatbelt sight on/off. But an automatic function can also be selected by both manufacturers. I think it comes standard on Airbus. It sounds then the gear is selected up/down.

    • @ahmedayaat2727
      @ahmedayaat2727 Před 5 měsíci

      @TheLayoverAviation yes for Airbus during gear retraction too. But indeed it does come standard on all Airbus aircrafts, look at the left in overhead panel

    Like your narration. I just have one question. Sitting inside the aircraft, how do you know where other planes are going. For example: Japan Airlines Boing B777 going to Kuala Lumpur. I know sitting inside your aircraft, you know the name of the airlines and the type of aircraft. But how do you know where they are going?

    Another unique feature of a 777-300ER is the tail skid which is a small skid mounted at the aft of the fuselage. It’s purpose was to absorb shocks and prevent damage to the aircraft during take offs and landings because of a very high nose up attitude. Boeing has discontinued this feature as they believe the present fleet can do without it.

    • @TheLayoverAviation
      @TheLayoverAviation  Před rokem +1

      True! And what helps the 300ER a lot is the SLG (semi levered gear). It adds some height to the aircraft.
      I wanted to mention all that soon on some extremely heavy B777-300ER episode, +15 hour let’s say..
      Thanks for the comment Neville! Always very interesting!

    I learn so much from your reviews. Not weird, but alot of JAL ANA flight to everywhere but no North American carries. Must be the terminal. North or South. Bravo to that farmer. You can beat government through standing your ground. Narita was and still is a leach for what they did way back when.

    • @TheLayoverAviation
      @TheLayoverAviation  Před 8 měsíci

      I fly mostly with hand luggage only so I don’t know.. But I’m sure that most of these legacy airlines just pretend they don’t see the 2kg. It’s mostly low cost that try to squeeze every penny out of you.
