Its Pop, its a Pop song. Pop music, popular music. Which means its liked by most people.
Beautiful! 😇 One of my favourite those days. And still love the song🎶❤️🙋♀️
35 and older if you dnt knw Elton John you been living under a rock. A lot of musician's are called "Artist's" very few are actual artists. Elton John is one of them.
Gabe always talks about everything but the song he's just heard.
I love loads of music but for some reason this is still one of my favourites
At the time, Elton was considered a folk singer. It wasn't until Elton and his band (Nigel Olsson on drums/vocals and Dee Murray on bass/vocals) came to the USA for the first time and played at the Troubadour in Los Angles that he became kind of a pop star...though again it's always hard to pigeonhole him into a category since he was so unique on the one side and flexible on the other.
So the album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road has the songs Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding (prog rock), Candle in the Wind (pop ballad), Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (pop), Bennie and the Jets (R&B), Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting (guitar rock), Jamaica Jerk-Off (Reggae), Your Sister Can't Twist but She Can Rock 'n Roll (50s rock), and Roy Rogers (country). So what kind of music artist is Elton?
Rock performers do write and compose ballads. There is such a thing as soft rock.
At the start of the song I kept thinking 'what's that word MAN in the background of the studio, that's the same font as Superman, perhaps there was some comic event on the TV at the time, it couldn't have been from the movie, not in 1971 and...." and then it showed a closeup of Sir Elton's head and the word was still there. It's part of your Superman poster in the background lol The fool I am :P
Anyway! Nice this is an add for you Gabe, Rock stretches across the music scene like a giant tablecloth across a table, it fills every corner and space!
Sir Bob Geldolf front man of The Boomtown Rats is Irish (republic of Ireland) was given an Honoury Knighthood for his work with Band Aid and live Aid. There are other non British given Honoury Knighthoods
I know Stormin Norman was Knighted after the first Gulf War. I know he was told He wasn't aloud to use the title, i'm not 100% sure, the only people from the Comonwealth can be called by thier titles.
And let's not forget the great Bernie Taupin in all this!😊
Bring a lot of money man, 80%+ 😂 brilliant!
Anyone from the British Commonwealth can be knighted ...Canadians, Australians, New Zealanders etc etc etc ... or an honoury knighthood for doing something that benefits the UK.
Bennie and the Jets , Crocodile Rock , Rocket Man ,lot more of a crowd sing along , Elton moves a lot more
Gabes problem is he relates the term 'rock' to pounding drums and blazing electric guitars. Which wasn't the case. The terms rock and roll and pop were initially pretty interchangeable. More of a distinction between the two came mid/late seventies. Soft rock became pop and hard rock became heavy metal. But the 'King of Rock and Roll', Elvis Presley, never used an electric guitar in studio or live until 1968. I don't think Gabe would consider many of his hits like Teddy Bear or All Shook Up as rock.
You should play Gabe the following:
Buddy Holly - That’ll Be The Day
Ritchie Valens - La Bamba
The Big Bopper - Chantilly Lace
They died on tour together in a plane crash. The major headlines read: "Top Rock and Roll Trio Killed In Airplane Crash".
You can have a honorary knighthood if they do something that contributes to the UK
Or the millions raised for charities.
It's a real knighthood, Bob Geldof's is just an honour.
If Gabe has never heard Rocketman all the way through, then do a reaction to that.
Norman Schwarzkopf Jr. and Bob Geldof (Irish) both received the equivalent of a Knighthood, but being British they aren't allowed the title of Sir. I know Norman has passed.
Elvis' in the ghetto?' slow!!!
Elton ' Saturday nights alright for fighting ' fast!!!
Try Ren: tale of Jenny and screech trilogy
"Hi Ren"
"Love Music"
Soft Rock you call it
Bob Geldof has an honorary title and he is not British for band aid
elton to be honest, cant be put into a category, like queen cant, they are their own genra, whne you look at eltons music over the years, you have this one, candle in the wind, the lion king stuff, then you have the faster paced stuff, like rocket man and so on,
Why is it necessary to categorise music?
Agree. Though some artists lend their styles more easily to categories. Some are hard to put into any genre!
Can you imagine going in a record shop to look for an album and having to look through the whole shop for it?
Yep, reactors' favourite word: "genre" 😼
When I was growing up there was enough genres to fill the fingers on one hand.
Then the Beatles came and music buffs got confused with their stupid boxes and genres.
After the 80’s they got their own back by creating three hundred thousand fake genres.
Actually there are no genres, only styles… and there are only two types of music - liked and disliked - and it’s all personal judgement.
As Billy Joel says…
“It’s Still Rock ‘n Roll To Me”
He's Pop Rock or Glam Rock or Soft Rock...
Don't know... but it's not rock
❤ from Northeast England ❤️
A Knighthood is hardly an honour these days...pretty much mocked e.g. look up Sir Jimmy Savile.
ADHD, it all makes sense now 🤣
There’s strings there as well but as John Lennon said “It’s the best thing that has happened since the Beatles.” It was different from anything that was out at the time, and it was Elton’s first successful single.
I don't understand. Where's the lady to whom I have become used?
Don't discombobulate me, cheerful Yanks. I do like this other person. He's special. I'm just rather confused about the whole setup here. Are there complicated, Mormon-style, potentially misunderstood and not depraved, relationships involved here?
If so, I will try very hard to get my head around this kind of American lunacy, but I can't promise anything.
After all, I'm British 😁.
Gabe has been a part of this channel from the beginning. Nick started it all
But Gabe has been on the channel since the 4th or so video. Jodi actually came on after him. Nick and Gabe learned about cricket on this channel and even ran another channel about cricket for years. We used to also do videos on Indian films. Now he is reacting to songs he has never heard before. Not sure what you mean by Mormon style relationships. He is just my friend and we record reactions on here just like I do with Jodi
I'm not being horrible and not trying to be but, why are you still making reviews with this guy 🤦🤷♂️... he hasn't a clue and quite irritating
Sir Hiram Maxim.
What about him,great inventor?
@@martindunstan8043 Nick asked if an American had been knighted. I can only think of him and Geldof (being Irish).
@@ChingChangWallah. Maxim was born in America and remained legally American until 1899 when he became a naturalised British citizen,he received his knighthood in 1901 as a Briton, but I do get your point👍
@@martindunstan8043 I knew you did.
