    This song was written to hit you where it hurts. It had a purpose, and your reaction shows it did it's job

    The song was written by Chris after his daughter Josie saw footage of a riot in South Africa which showed horrible things people throwing burning tyres over people his wife Joans dad said he didn't know what to say to Josie except that they had gone to heaven and that's how the song come about.love and peace.

    Chris wrote this after his 6 year old daughter asked about what se was seeing on the news . It hits me sideways each time I hear it as Christ has to be one of the best writers ant story tellers ever

    It's a tough one to listen to. It's actually a song of his i rarely listen to and I'm a big Chris Rea fan. I love Driving home for Christmas and Working on it.

    *IF YOU DONT KNOW* this song is about his little girl watching the news and being upset at the endless horror on the nightly TV news.
    And him realizing he was damaging her psychologically just by having the news on every night.

    Possibly the saddest song he does. Lots of really great stuff by him that doesn't rip the heart out of your chest the way this one does.

    Been listening to Chris Rea for decades! Brilliant singer/songwriter! Check out “Rainbow and a Rose”! It’s such an incredible song that Frank Sinatra almost recorded of Chris Rea!

    It's a heartwrenching song because honestly... nobody knows if there's a heaven. We can have faith, but no one _knows._ All this suffering, is it for a reason?

    • @justincredible.
      @justincredible. Před 10 měsíci

      What reason could be good enough, even if there is a heaven, god let's this happen (according to his devine plan) lets them suffer for years, but hey there's a heaven....

    This is such a beautiful sad song. Jayy I cried with you. Losing my dad and how much he suffered before he died. How much I miss him and still need him. It made me think of my dad. 💔😭

      I honestly read that as "Road to hell (Brexit version)" LOL
      I thought "has he updated it for 2020?" - If you did not know the original was about the recession in the North of England in the 80's - The road to hell is the M1 motorway to London

    This song is so hard for me to listen to. It breaks my heart so much because it's about abused kids. Be glad you arent watching the graphic video of this song with photos of abused and murdered children. I cant take it. :{
    I just checked for the url of the other video but it's been taken down. Thank God. It was just too painful to watch,but I felt I owed it to those little ones who they were showing. To acknowledge their pain and loss.

    A song with a message. Then over produced. Didn't need the strings etc. which takes away the strength of the lyrics. Still have Chris Rea on vinyl, love him.

    If there is no heaven then there is no good and evil and there is no love. So what kind of life would that be?
