    Would love some detailed instructions on some of these changes. I'v seen the solar and converter instruction videos which were very helpful. Something as simple as how you made your vent opener would be a big help. Anyone with an Aframe knows how difficult it is to get up and down to control those. Give Ceasar and Dakota a hug for me

    I purchased the table mount extrusions to mount the table to the front wall as you have done. I am worried that the front wall has not enough structure where the wall part of the table mount has to install, that its just the thin interior panelling with foam behind. Did you have an issue with this? I want to do it to move the table a bit closer to the front wall for a bit more space to get in and out of the road side seat bench and also make it easier to set up than the current factory setup with the pair of folding legs. I bought my 2008 Aliner used in 2014 and it came with the 3000lb "off road" axle, but it was built with the 2000lb axle, for some reason it was replaced by the previous owner. The used trailer also came with three different tires, two were worn unevenly and only the spare was good, so I am not sure what the previous owner was doing with the trailer, but taking care of the tires was not one of the things that he was doing. My trailer has the stock 13 inch wheels, and its ride height and clearance is quite good, and a perfect match for my Subaru Outback tow vehicle. But one problem the heavier axle likely contributed to was the all too common Aliner bent frame problem. I had to straighten and reinforce the frame over the axle, following the frame straightening/reinforcement process written on on the Aliner Owners Club site,. How is your frame doing? I ask this because you converted essentially to what I have and what I have had the problem, its not too bad to fix, it cost me $300 in materials and shop time. I worry about SlimPotatahead's Aliner too, since he did an axle upgrade too. Given how much work you two do to your Aliner's i doubt the issue will present a challenge for you guys. Thanks

      Hi Jeffrey. I Gorilla glued a piece of 1x1 to the wall before I attached my mounting bracket for the dinette table. I had to cut it (trim it) so that it the back side was at a matching angle to the slope of the front wall. Then I just gorilla glued it and screwed it in place Because it is right up against the hinge of the front roof, I actually believe there is enough wooden structure to hold the screws, but I didn't want to take an chances since the table could have a turkey diner with gravy on it if it failed !! Also remove any "Wall Paper" so your glued directly to the structural sheeting on the foam core roof. I think the frames of the 2004-2010 models were weak at the door. The axle rating has nothing to do with it really. Its more how much you load the rear end with and how bumpy the roads you travel are. When I got mine the tires looked brand new on the outside, they were completely bald on the inside. The 2000ln axle is easy to overload, so I changed it and my tires seem to be wearing perfectly. I go 4-wheeling with my Aliner, so it really takes a beating. And the frame is differently bent. The door scraps the bottom and the top won't stay "clipped". So I have a future video coming about that, but ive been so busy I feel like a one handed paper hanger.

    Really cool ideas. I like Aliner , but in Mo there aren't a lot of A-frame dealers, and cost is a big factor. My wife and I just bought a FR Coachmen Clipper, from a local dealer which seems to be a good camper. I'm looking for ideas in storage and living space, and anything else that helps. Thanks for your help.

    What was all involved with the axle upgrade and what did it cost to have done? Just a ballpark estimate and year please. I was considering this myself.

    • @GoingNoWhereFast
      @GoingNoWhereFast  Před 2 lety

      When I did it, the axles was $500, and the freight charge was $450. So just under $1000 to change it myself over 3 Days. If a Shop did it, probably add 3 hours of labor. Its pretty simple. Undo 4 bolts, axle falls off, stick new axle under trailer, scree in 4 bolts, then check alignment. Hard part might be hooking up brakes and installing them, but they are just 4 more bolts each side. and clipping in the wires.

    I have an Aliner Expedition and was just wondering what type of bracket you used for the stability bars?

    • @GoingNoWhereFast
      @GoingNoWhereFast  Před 7 lety +1

      If you mean the bars that go along the top, they are just Pickup truck cargo bars. And mine just stay up by friction once you crank them out. I bought mine at Tractor Supply store for about $20. I think it is a good idea to place some kind of "Holder" on the wall, as mine have fallen down on my head several times.... But that just makes me smarter.

    Thanks for the modification ideas. Can you provide more info on how you made the vent openers? The photo of the PVC pipe doesn't show the end that connects with the vent opener. This would be very helpful to me and much easier than dragging out the step stool. Thank you!

    job well done..if i may what are you running off your solar panels... thanks

    • @GoingNoWhereFast
      @GoingNoWhereFast  Před 7 lety +1

      You can't really run anything off your solar panel, you can only run off your battery. So you have to have enough battery to carry all the stuff you want to run. The solar panels just keep your batteries charged.

    our 2009 Classic has no brakes.Does yours have them?Is it a problem for you at all?

    • @GoingNoWhereFast
      @GoingNoWhereFast  Před 7 lety +1

      A lot depends on what your pulling it with. Mine does not have brakes, and weighs in at 2000lbs when fully loaded. When I was pulling it with a honda CR-v "crossover" vehicle stopping was greatly effected. I upgraded to a Ford Exploder and I hardly know its there except for serious panic stops. It is easy to install brakes as long as your alxe has the square brackets just behind the wheel. They are about $200, then the controller is $200-$400

    • @waterdog456

    Quick question.. why did you remove the A/C cover?

    • @GoingNoWhereFast
      @GoingNoWhereFast  Před 8 lety +1

      +Dede Colwell
      You have to remove the cover when you run it or it overheats and will die. So I just put that "Flag" in the cold air exhuast so I wouldn't forget to take off the outside cover. Otherwise the cover stays on the A/C

    Great, instructional video. Where did you get the pole that stabilizes the sides (and ? use for clothes?) dsmilkandhoney@gmail.com

    • @GoingNoWhereFast
      @GoingNoWhereFast  Před 8 lety +1

      They are Pickup truck cargo bed stabilizer rods. I got them at a place called Tractor Supply. But I think you can get them at any farm or trucking store. ($19) They are designed to ratchette out to hold things in the back of a truck without them sliding all over, and they work great for this purpose. The one caution on the aliner is if one is loosely put up, and then the second cranked a little tighter, the first will come crashing down on your head..... don't ask how I know, but the bump is going away ! Also the black pads will leave a mark if you don't cover them with something. I use saran wrap of a ziplock sandwich bag.
