  • In this video I show a very common failure on the LunchEAZE Portable Heating Lunch Box, and the resulting repair.
    The elements I ordered off of Amazon ended up being total trash and had constant failures. They were also pretty inefficient. I ended up breaking down and buying some good ones off of Digikey. The part number is CP604395H.

    Unfortunately they’re expensive but actually seem to be performing even better than the OEM. I will try and update the description again as time goes on.
    I also started using this thermal heat tape (Thermal Adhesive Tape 40mm by... www.amazon.com.... I didn’t really like the clamping system that LunchAZE used and I wanted to ensure good heat transfer by using something that would actually adhere to the surface rather than being only clamped

    Mine wont start to heat. The relay clicks and then it starts up for a split second then shuts off for 1 second then comes back on.

      That sounds like a bad battery pack. When the pack has high resistance somewhere the voltage will drop out under load.

      @@HVACLife Got a new battery pack installed and it's working again thanks for the tip. I took apart the old battery pack to see if any of the 18650 cells were still good and they all read 4.6 volts but the writing on them say they are 3.6 volts. Do you think they are still good I wanted to use them for something else.

      Yeah buddy let me post a pick of how I fixed the back...I do stuff like this all the time but fear being sued because of posting it...I RECMOMMEND you buy a suitable replacement!

      @@HVACLife I bought a replacement battery pack made for it. I'm talking about the old battery pack wanted to save what ever cells were still good but they all read 4.6 volts and are rated 3.6 volts. Maybe the little board on the battery was faulty causing them to get overcharged and when it got turned on the voltage was to much and a safety feature cut the power off

      Also if you have Peltier problems. Watch both parts! And looks at the descriptions. Quality peltiers from Digi are still going strong, but the Amazon peltiers are really made for cooling and not heating...they only lasted 1-4 weeks max.

    This is badass. I just started having the exact same issue with my LunchEaze and I use the same lunch box to carry mine! I've had that lunch box since like 2019 and love it

      Awesome brother! Be sure to check the description. The digikey elements have yet to fail and I’m convinced they are the best option 👍

    Has the temp of the hot plate gone too 200 F or close to it? It’s supposed to go to “212 F”, which mine has but has your repaired box reached or even passed 190 F?

    • @HVACLife
      @HVACLife  Před 6 měsíci

      No and I only think it could reach over 190F if the food you put in is already hot. But since things like tea are normally comfortable around 135F the 190F limit has always been fine with me 👍

    I want to make one and instead of just a hot plate, I want to use the cold side to be a cold and hot lunch box. And if I can rig it up to use a Ryobi battery pack that would be even better. I just need to learn how to do it.

    • @HVACLife
      @HVACLife  Před 4 měsíci

      Yeah it would. You may want to see if you can buy a Peltier driver…they’re hard to regulate 👍

    So you are telling me a $200 lunch box will not last 2 years?!? This is very troubling. I was excited to bite the bullet on such a steep price for our son and my husbands lunch box that they can share interchangeably. Thank you for this video.

      @@HVACLife Wow thanks so much for the advice. yes, I will definitely make a follow-up post once there is some real progress. I bought some expensive peltiers, PTC's and flexible polyimide film heating elements to play around and see which ones can heat up more efficiently, the goal is to make a cheaper alternative to luncheaz or alike, because $200 price tag I think is overkill.
