    UPDATE!
    So I am going into my 2nd full boating season with the speakers and I very pleased to say I am still super happy with them. They are going strong and still sound great. I had wondered about the life of my front speakers was as they get wet/splashed often when we’re ballasted down when wakeboarding/surfing or coming around and take a roller over the bow. I can say these still sound great and the cost savings - well that is a win!

      Like you, I used to install aftermarket accessories years ago.. I’ve never heard of skar either until I came across them on Amazon but the first thing I noticed was the size of the magnet from the pics.. glad to know it’s not all a plastic shroud lol now I’m interested! Great review

      Good to hear. Are you running them amplified now?

      Loved the honest review. Im mounting on my side by side in some enclosures above my head. The skar speakers are also bigger than the holes on the enclosures so going to have to modify like you did. Those speakers are heavy but they sound dam good even without an amp!

    one suggestion is to use the foam backers they send with the speakers as a diagram for the hole size you need to cut, run to a hardware store and get a hole saw for your drill to cut circular holes. I put 6 speakers in my boat from scratch and a round head unit in 3.5 hours on a 19ft center console bay boat. Much less mess when cutting and a lot quicker. Be careful when using them on the side panels of the boat as some hole saws have a drill bit for centering and may that may be too long and cause you to punch through the hull of the boat. Very good video though, kudos for self install!

    After watching this I decided to go with the Skar 6.5's. Pioneer single din 200.00, Pioneer 2000w 5ch 250.00, 10" Kicker comp "Walmrt" vented box 180.00, 4 Skar 6.5 marine 200.00. It sounds great and is plenty loud enough.

    Do you think these will fit in a 6.5 canister? I have canisters on my harley and was about to buy these

    • @stageleftguitar5887
      @stageleftguitar5887  Před 2 lety

      Sorry just saw this - so the canisters that I’ve looked at for ATVs and Wakeboard towers Yes - or your bike maybe? The few bikes I’ve come across yes - the cans up in their windjammers were big enough but without seeing I couldn’t be 100%

    How would you compare to jl m6 sound wise

    • @stageleftguitar5887
      @stageleftguitar5887  Před 2 lety +2

      So the JLs I listened to in two different local shops, I thought these were every bit as good sounding - the JLs in the shops were externally amped and mine were not, and even with that advantage I think these sound every bit as good

    Will this be able to hook up with the boss marine system 500w amplifier package? It's a 4 channel amplifier, 2 pairs of 6.5 speakers. Would I be able to bridge and hook up the two skar subs along with the other 4 boss speakers?

    • @stageleftguitar5887
      @stageleftguitar5887  Před 2 lety

      So technically yes, however you would need to share the L & R channels of the unbridged portion of the amp and you would loose front/rear fader capability - may not be a big issue for you. Check the impedance rating of the amp, as you make need to run them in either series or parallel as to not “under load” the amp.
      If the amp handles 2 ohm loads on the regular/unbridged channels your probably cool either way

    How loud do they get? I want marine speakers for my truck grill.

    • @stageleftguitar5887
      @stageleftguitar5887  Před 3 lety +1

      I was pretty surprised how loud they got without a dedicated amp. They definitely can take more power than the high power Kenwood head unit puts out (4x35) which is not the same as a true 4x35 watt amp - the old kenwood speakers could not even compete volume-wise with the SKARs
