I can understand the girl from Glasgow much easier than I can some of these other British accents, maybe because I have worked with Scots in the U.S. And I agree they sound congested a lot of the time. The only accent I absolutely need captions for is Welsh. Maybe because they are accustomed to speaking Welsh and almost have the equivalent of a foreign accent.

They are adults at 16 which makes things much harder for them. There is a difference. Even though many teens here cannot get jobs or work decent hours to sustain a healthy income in order to pay for the costs of living at 16 because labor laws, we also are not treated as adults at 16 which when it comes to the legal system that makes a huge difference for kids who have multiple instances of crime on their records before the age of 18. It's also rare to find a young single mom with no income to be rejected for benefits or aka here in the U.S food stamps and welfare. But since the rise of inflation that has changed greatly since now the system is being flooded with people signing up for these programs and now its getting harder to be approved for help than it was 10 years ago.

I learned so many sad facts watching this. Minimum wage in the UK is 4 pounds? Wow. I thought it was bad in the States. These girls living on 28 pounds a week? omg that's a tight budget! Rooms don't come with carpet and the bare boards are... sketchy. There's mold (they call it damp, we call it mold) everywhere. It looks like poverty is just as bad in the UK as it is in the US. Late stage capitalism... I'm betting it's even worse with covid on the streets now. Wish there was an update. Amber will get it together for her baby, I feel that. Shelby... a baby on the way now. Bridie.... she's got a tough row to hoe. I wish them all well. Life is a struggle.
