99% of the time developing this game went to the character models story and voice work. When it came to the gameplay they were just like “I dunno third person looter shooter…?” 🤷♂️

The story and cutscenes seem pretty awesome but the gameplay feels so generic. Seriously, how do they take a whole cast of DC villains and just make them all float around and shoot guns. Really?
The story would be awesome if it was a JL game and not freaking Suicide Squad. Seriously, who's interested in Harley Quinn and Capitain Boomerang? They are just side characters and will always be. My only hope was that they would allow us to play as Batman at the final to save the day but now I realize that it won't happen.

@@trentstrickland3534 yes it isn't enough, the fact that the gameplay is going to primarily uses gun means it will be want you will be doing the most they are obviously aiming for the Fortnite crowds, WRONG DECISION since a lot of DC characters already has skins in Fortnite the idea of playing these characters with gun has been played to death.

I was pretty shocked to see King Shark using a gun. Maybe hand to hand combat wouldn't have worked for a game like this but I do hope the skill trees let them unleash more abilities like they said. The Heroic weapons near the endgame seem insane
I'm pretty sure there will be hand to hand, maybe not as much/in depth as the arkham games but I think there will be some of it. Maybe it depends on what build/weapons you choose. In the breakdown video they show a few seconds of King sharks sickles being customized, and I assume you can have multiple weapons in your loadout. So along with the guns, you will probably have a melee weapon too. I could be wrong though.

They all use machine guns, i expected one mele, one sniper, one gadget guy and a mix of all like harley, but its shooting glowing orbs no matter who you play as.

This will flop hard. A game designed by the marketing team and trends. Generic squad gameplay , generic visuals (vibrant neon colors and giant weak points). it's all about customizing weapons like a CoD, the gunplay feels weak, RPG elements, GRIND GRIND GRIN, full on minions , traversals looks bland and all of them act very similar, GaaS all over the place with battlepass...

I don't how developers fail to realize that people want more single-player curated games and not another multiplayer grind fest. We've already have enough of those. And unless you're CoD or Destiny, you're not going to compete with their model.

We also want the option for friends to drop in and out of said “single player game”. I like playing with buds. If Skyrim had modern controls and coop… I’d still be playing that game.

I don't know what I was expecting when it was revealed a Suicide Squad game was in development, but given that it was from Rocksteady, I (foolishly) thought it would be in the same vein as the Arkham series. Seeing that it's gone the direction of Avengers and Gotham Knights has completely neutered my hype for the game. Oh well, $70 saved.

This reminds me of Gotham Knights. Characters that shouldn’t be flying or hovering in the air are doing so. What happened to focusing on a tight contained immersive single player story?
In action none of these characters are behaving like how they should. Also the first Suicide Squad movie everyone complained that team couldn’t go up against a super power entity. How can these 4 go up against the fricken Justice League??? Anyone one member could take out these 4.
Plot armor. Flash could have just killed them all easily right there. But like every other HeroVillain in this, they won’t.
Clearly both studios got a mandate from WB Games to make live-service games for easy infinite revenue streams. Difference is that GK managed to wiggle itself out from this before even the announcement and gameplay reveal at DC Fandome 2020, as they've said since day one that it would never have microtransactions. Probably thanks to somebody at the top at least realizing that competing with yourself in the live-service space would be extra stupid (and Rocksteady was the much bigger name, and as big as the Batclan has become, the Suicide Squad has much more room for DLC characters in general and many more characters that the general public is aware of thanks to recent live-action in particular). It still suffered from this design history, though, with its immersion-breaking loot and overall overly RPG-y mechanics as well as technical issues born out of facilitating city-wide co-op. And it got blasted for all this way more than it objectively deserved, with people repeating ad nauseam that SS:KTJL would show them how it's done, despite Rocksteady having shown next to nothing and said even less, while clearly being much better suited conceptually to be turned into a live-service game. And now SS:KTJL might have slightly better graphics and slightly more (easily achieved) fluid combat, but I frankly don't see anything visually stunning, the combat looks very floaty and astonishingly samey considering the in terms of powers highly diverse cast of characters (whereas Gotham Knights went out of its way to add gameplay differences (stealth/gadgets, traversal) to inherently similar heroes), and they not only doubled down on the monetization, but sextupled down on it. At least my faith in humanity got restored a bit by reactions.
This seems like out of rocksteadys control. But to be fair nothing wrong with more multiplayer. We have enough single player games

It's worth pointing out that the Justice League has always existed in Rocksteady's Arkham-verse. Superman was referenced as far back as Arkham Asylum, and there were a ton of references to the Justice League scattered throughout Arkham Knight.

The idea of "let's create a game that will make us money for years" unfortunately ends up with the downfall of companies. There are very few companies that have achieved this, but none of these companies have achieved it with a game similar to yours.

I don’t know how to feel about this. I knew that Rocksteady are gonna do something different when they announced this game but this… this doesn’t feel like them. They pushed the boundary of games by giving us what it feels like to be the Batman. The characters, the settings, the gameplay, it feels like what Batman should Ben and it was great. Their top level quality of gameplay and story what made them to be one of the best newcomer studio. But this!! This is not even suicide squad!! Captain Boomerang doesn’t use his signature weapon. King Shark doesn’t use his brute strength. And since when did they swing around like Spider-Man! This is just awful in terms of gameplay and the characters themselves. It’s a shame that their Arkham trilogy legacy won’t live on.

can't believe how much of a mess this turned out to be, this game looks older than Arkham Knight and has the same appeal as Marvel's Avengers. and why on God's blue Earth is BATMAN possessed by Brainiac? has Rocksteady forgotten how many times THEY made Batman shake off being mind controlled? the real Batman would've freed himself within 30mins max, seconds most likely. it's a crime that Conroy's last performance in the Arkhamverse won't be the masterful closure of Arkham Knight, instead it'll be DC's Anthem.
I wish they'd just delay this live-service drek a year and do it right. Since they won't at least it'll be under $30 used in a few months.
I think they've already delayed it 3 or 4 times, one of them pushing it back a year or so. So... this IS the product of that extra time. And it is very unfortunate.

No. Also, unlike the Arkham games, when the servers go offline 5 to 10 years after it releases, the game is gone for good - whereas you can still replay the Arkham games today or 20 , 30, 50+ years from now as they aren't a live service.

I don't think the hate should entirely be going to Rocksteady, but instead at WB. They probably saw the amount of money they could get from 1) it being a Rocksteady game 2) the whole live service thing and 3) the amount of cosmetics and stuff they could sell along with it. It certainly looks fun and the facial animations are insane! However, this just doesn't feel like Rocksteady, WB have pushed for this, hopefully it can be pulled off for the sake of the devs
Devs are already leaving. They announced this December last year
WB did push for this. Rocksteady was working on a Damian Wayne game, before this, but that was canned for this.
ETA: Correction: WB Montreal were working on the Damian Wayne game, not rocksteady.

yeah, rumor has it that Rocksteady was working on a Superman Game but then got brute forced by WB to make a GaaS title instead. WB was really banking on Suicide Squad to take off, along with the Justice League, but history hasn't been kind to DC's superhero team ups. The only team up project that's been successful is Injustice, but Injustice 3 was canned and Nether Realm was forced to make Mortal Kombat 12. WB used to be on top of the world, but now they've hit a low point on multiple fronts and i don't think they can afford any losses.
i wouldn't be surprised if Suicide Squad is Rocksteady's last game.
thery had close to 7 years to develop this game and they decided to make a FOrtnite shooter......
