What I love about this is, Chicago is where he went to college, and I completely relate to this. Going back to your college town is like an instant flood of nostalgia when you're older and have become such a different person.

It's nowhere near as bad as the news would lead you to believe. The violence is pretty isolated to certain sections of the city. If you stick around the Downtown area it will be a little pricey, but safe. Other option would be to stay out of the city and uber or train ride in.

Everytime I listen to this song, it reminds me of the place that I spent my degree which is so far from home and it took 10 hours to drive there. Whenever I visit that place, it feels so nostalgic that there’s another version of me living there 7 years ago. It’s a place I spent my youth for 5 years.
This is also what i felt when I listen to the song for the first time, working so hard to earn the degree that we wanted, lots of sacrifices were made, the emotionally instability we had, the anxious that we had, "just trust me, you will be fine" was our mantra during the times we thought we will never it earn. Around one month ago I was in Chicago - and the US in general - for the first time in my life. Eleven wonderful and beautiful days in which I fell in love not only with the city but also a special person, now girlfriend, I was visiting. My heart indeed stays in that city even with me being all the way back over the great lake in Germany. I lived in Illinois for my early years of my youth before moving to Illinois. I was already aclimated to my life there as a kid. But one day my family moved over to California for my Mom's side of the family and have lived there since. I'm 25 now.
This song makes me think about how different my life would be if I had stayed in Illinois somehow. I was really close with my cousins there before I left. But when I visit once a year or two, it just doesn't feel the same.
