I love how Saix knew that Axel would be at the clock tower. He knows Axel better than Axel does.
isa beeing the one that brings the ice cream this time is such a nice and redeeming gesture.
Especially since the ones he offers first are Roxas and Xion, who used to be enemies with him as Saïx.
I don't understand why fans hate him after KH3. Without him Xion and Roxas wouldn't even exist again.

The man who voices Saix aka Kirk Thornton also voices Shadow the Hedgehog and both characters have the exact same voice accept Saix hasn’t got a gruffly voice. Kirk needs to not try too hard voicing Shadow, this voice for Shadow is perfect 👌
That's actually the only reason I looked up this video. I don't know a whole lot about the Kingdom Hearts lore, but someone I know just beat Kingdom Hearts III and I saw Thornton's name go by in the credits, so I was like, "which guy was Saix? I've gotta' hear this!" X^D
I agree, this voice would work better for Shadow than the one he's been doing.
Fun side note- according to Behind the Voice Actors, Quinton Flynn, the voice of Axel/Lea, has also been playing Silver the Hedgehog since 2010. Now I have the weirdest urge to draw a picture of the two hedgehogs wearing those Organization XIII robes. o_0
Roger Craig Smith (Sonic) also played a few background roles in KH3, such as an army soldier in the Toy Story world and the CDA agents in the Monsters Inc. world.

Eh, i prefer the guy from 4kids. Actually I prefer the whole 4kids cast when they were voicing them in games like 06 (bad game ik) but you get me
The problem isn’t really Kirk but more like the voice direction he’s given. The voice directors tell them how to sound. The voice directors have to tell him not to sound as raspy or “trying too hard”

Saix should have played more of a role in the game...considering he is a main character in the overall story
He is the true essence of the moon, ever-changing, his soft smile and yet berserk mode shows this man suffers greatly from bipolar disorder. I hope he becomes more relatable for folks of that sort.
Let’s not simplify a complex disorder like Bipolar by assuming a character has it because he shows contradictory emotional responses.
he's my favourite character, and I can currently relate to him in the sense that I feel left behind by one of my best friends who has moved on to new friends
Saïx did not have enough cutscenes/dialouge compared to the other Seekers and i realllyyyyy hope this gets fixed with Re:Mind.
Xigbar, Young Xehanort, Vanitas, Marluxia, Larxene, Dark Riku, and Luxord all had their OWN storylines within Disney worlds and atleast 1 other cutscene outside of that before the Keyblade War (not to mention Vexen, Demyx, Ansem & Xemnas too) .... Saix only had 2 cutscenes before that- not to mention the fact that his “longest” scene with Xemnas vs Xion,Roxas,Axel,etc he doesn’t even talk smh.
They should have had him infiltrate Kairi and Axel’s training and had him play mind games on them throughout instead of that one scene with Axel at the Clock Tower - or even more scenes with him and Xion (she also had few cutscenes) as Seekers of Darkness... what really would have helped though is some flashbacks with him and Lea and being reawakened etc.
The only hope I have is the fact that 1) out of all the seekers, he and Xion are “alive” now and apart of the main crew so maybe Saix was being saved for his further importance as Isa in the series considering the Subject X storyline and 2) that Re:Mind will go deeper into Xion’s story so hopefully this means Saix as well. Saix is my favorite character and they did him so much justice in KH2 & 358/2 Days so it was a dissapointment to barely see him in DDD & KH3 when he was one of the best villains and the first person other than Xehanort to be seen with Gold eyes (hints to being a vessel)... come on remind make this happen!!!

Play on 1.25X speed and this is how Kirk Thornton's Shadow SHOULD sound like. The whole issue with Sonic VAs atm, is the voice direction (which ties into characterization/writing ofc).

Yep, I was surprised to find that the voice actor I liked as Saix was the same one I hated as Shadow.
Not to diss on Kirk though, I just think he didn’t fit as Shadow.

I'm not gonna dislike the video, but since you asked for constructive criticism:
Maybe it's just me, but it felt awkward with the last scene being completely mute. Perhaps the next time you have to silence a song that's blocked on YT, you can find some other music to dub over it instead. For instance, in this video specifically I feel it could've worked if you had just let the audio continue playing the orchestral version of Simple and Clean that started in the prior scene at 15:29.
Edit: Then again, maybe it wouldn't work. I just tested it by muting the video and listening to the Video Games Live version, and the music ended about 30 seconds too early. X^D I'm just throwing suggestions out here- trying to be helpful. ^_^
OR! You can just hum during the scene. Hell you can sing it! The lyrics are easy to remember :D

Is he really the traitor in the organization?, he said he got jealous and lost his sense of purpose
saix felt bad about everything he did in the previous organization. so he willingly went back to find a way to restore xion and roxas so he could mend his friendship with Axel. once he rejoined he got vexen onboard who also felt bad about everything during his own time in the organization and they worked together to attain the replicas to restore them. vexen left once he got ahold of the replicas and saix stayed to make sure they were properly restored. so saix and vexen are both traitors but they had to keep their plan to themselves so xehanort and the other members wouldn't ruin it and to answer your question about him losing his sense of purpose he wanted to know what happened to his and axel's friend "subject X" and when he couldn't find out what happened he got so deep into darkness that he began having darker thoughts and hated that Axel made new friends while he felt like he was abandoned so he became ruthless and consequently became a puppet for xemnas and xehanort

Subject X. A girl that is mentioned in the Secret Reports throughout KH3 and a single scene of conversation between Ansem SoD and Ansem the Wise in Realm of Darkness. She was a friend of Isa and Lea.

His arc is atrocious.
His redemption was half assed and full of retcon, and instead of tackling that head on we get him sitting on the clock tower with three of his victims.
Xion’s actions toward him in particular were disgusting because he was horrendous to her in Days. To then see her and Roxas looking visibly sad at his 'death', and then to also see them smiling at him on the clock tower was ludicrous. Their whole tragedy in Days was due to Saix. I even think it's safe to say he was the Big Bad of that game. Then later he's even included in the Destiny Island scene. It was just instant forgiveness from the narrative as well as RAX. Nomura has seriously losed his freaking mind.
When I see the guy who emotionally abused two children for an entire year,and with one in particular he spent unwaveringly dehumanizing as well as trying to get them to kill each other, now being their ice cream buddy then I need more than a clocktower scene convo combined with a 'I was jealous love me' while I die in your arms sympathy play. He's also frolicking on the same island as his kidnapped victim Kairi, and of the other child he made bow down to him then tried to kill. I mean come on Nomura.
Since Days was ABOUT the organization that was the PERFECT game to HUMANIZE Saix and go into he and Axel’s backstory. That way when we get to this game it wouldn’t feel so JARRING to see this evil character trying to pull a sympathy play at the last minute.
Instead of humanization though the games went OUT OF THEIR WAY to show Saix as a monster as well as making his human self Isa a little jerk in BBS. Even his last canon appearance is him trying to kill his former best friend.
It's bs to try to make a character sympathetic without actually doing the redemptive leg work to get there.
The only saving grace Saix had in the sympathy department were the initial implication that he and Axel were victims of Ansem and his apprentice's heart experiments hence him begging for his back at his 'death' in KH2.
It was the perfect setup.
His Recusant's Sigil scar that was confirmed as such in the Dream Ultamania,the curiosity on why his berserk state looks like a heartless, Xigbar's dark teasing toward him in Days, as well as the the mind control experiments from the secret reports were all context clues to explain his Xehanort like behavior as a Nobody. This would have ultimately made his sympathy easier to stomach, but now all that tragic buildup is wasted on a Retcon.
Now we're just supposed to believe he's OBSESSED with a girl he met in the shadows ELEVEN YEARS AGO. This is then all combined with some I was jealous bs,and then some completely OFF SCREEN atonement thrown in about Roxas.
Vexen/Even's and Ienzo’s redemptions were more bearable because we were SHOWN theirs, but only TOLD Saix's, and there lies the problem. All his supposedly good deeds are done OFF SCREEN.
This includes anything about Retcon X who was apparently such a HUGE factor in his last days of being human that he carried a torch around for her even as a Nobody. However, do we get to see this go down in any of the now four games he’s been in? Nope. Nomura erred with this because Saix was TOO much of horrible person for all of his sympathy plays to be in the background where we the viewer can’t even see them happen.
Saix barely has scenes in this game as is,and yet all of them are of him still being the bastard he's always been throughout the series. However we now have some added bs to go with it as well. ‘'Oh, Hi let me share an ice cream with you and talk about our girl bestie like she was always on our minds, but neither one of us brought her up in ANY game we've been in before’'.
He is literally still so obsessed with her that he has her star on his jacket with his moon in the ending. This girl that was never brought up before by him or Axel, but is instead a forced Union X tie in because apparently good storytelling means bringing in new plot points at the conclusion of one story instead of satisfactorily wrapping up your old ones.
Also at no point in the the game or secret reports does he EVER talk about having his heart back, but then having it taken away again in the span of moments. Nor does he say anything about what it’s like serving this monster again or that he and his old friend are forced to be on opposite sides etc.
However, we do get him waxing poetic about Retcon X because that's more important than your lost humanity, your lost friendship, and being forced to bring about the end of worlds.
Also is it just me or does Vexen's report, as well as Saix and Axel's clocktower scene, imply Saix gave his heart up of his own free will both times? And that it was his idea to even do it the first time?
It seems they both gave their humanity up willingly to somehow save a girl they met a few times in the dark, and who we didn't even meet with them in a flashback.
This apparently made more sense than the perfect readymade story of them being experiments.
This whole implication of him being kidnapped, but apparently waking up and saying yea you can have my heart again DESTROY'S Saix’s characterization in one fell swoop. We saw this man BEG for his heart back at his ‘death’ in KH2.
However, just so he could die at the Altar of Retcon he gets his humanity again,but only to now say nah you can take it back. He couldn’t find Retcon Girl in the ELEVEN YEARS he lived as a abomination but apparently this time will be the charm. It's now however with the added knowledge that he’s willingly helping with a universe sized apocalypse to boot.
Again I'm supposed to feel sympathy for such a character?!
I’m supposed to believe that one he gave his heart up willingly after begging for it as a Nobody, and two ignore Re:Coded having a whole ass secret ending dedicated to him being taken against his will? Is being comatose and kidnapped the new consent or something? Nomura destroyed his ONE sympathetic characterization and for what exactly?
I can’t stand the character asspulling inconsistencies in this series. There is no way a human being with a CONSCIOUS would willingly become a sociopathic abomination again. Saix BEGGED for his heart. Marluxia/ Larxene were traitors, and as humans were wielders protecting light and his little sister. Demyx seemed to never like what he did and Luxord was gentlemanly. But I'm supposed to believe all these characters WILLINGLY become Nobodies again? They just gave up their HUMANITY, and thus any sympathetic characterization just like that?
As for Saix and Vexen you want to atone? Stay HUMAN. Ienzo did. Honestly,Even could have thought of bringing back lost innocents on his own. He was pretty much thinking along that line in his reports BEFORE Saix even approached him. So why was Saix needed again?
He wanted to atone by...STILL BEING EVIL? Help me out here Nomura.
The story was too busy setting up Retcon Girl’s insertion instead of letting Saix/Isa be a character in his own right with his own pain. When you have such an evil character’s ENTIRE motivation be someone we have never seen or heard from before than it’s your DUTY as a writer to then show some humanity in said evil character. Nomura failed heavily on both counts. He never made Saix give a damn about this girl before now, and he made sure to show him as nothing but a bastard the ENTIRE series. What kind of writing is this?
Also there is no way Retcon X would be touched that he gave up his humanity (twice at that) for her or that he did horrible, HORRIBLE things in her name. This whole thing makes Isa/Saix creepy as hell. He DEBASED himself for eleven years for a girl he doesn't even know.
Basically EVERY game has went OUT OF ITS WAY to DEHUMANIZE Saix. A strange choice if they always had redemption in mind.
His arc now means every evil thing he did was of his own freewill,and NOT Xehanort's like Terra's predicament. This makes Isa/Saix a monster instead of tragic.
I also noticed how Lea’s treats his lost friendship with Isa. Basically he doesn't mention Isa, and his nortification predicament, even once throughout the entire game. However, he stayed having visible sadness for Roxas and Xion. He woke up dreaming about Roxas in the game before. He doesn’t even remember Xion properly but was outright crying about her and bringing extra icecreams and what not, but does he show even a little sadness about his 'possessed' old best friend?
Crickets.
It's only when Saix shows up on the clock tower that Lea remembers ‘oh I should save him to’. Even in Days they don’t act like they used to have a friendship. Hell Axel even straight up tells Roxas and Xion that he’s never had a best friend. EVERY scene is antagonistic between them whether it’s in the Days game or movie. Even if becoming Nobodies slowly broke their friendship apart Lea was human in Dream when he found out the truth about what Xehanort did to Saix, and that he was trying to do the same thing to the others and Sora. Yet in this game he still doesn’t care about Isa at all until the eleventh hour clock tower scene.
This all just ties into something I've always thought, and it’s that Axel and Saix being friends, best or otherwise, came out of nowhere. It seems more and more that he's just a plot device for Axel/Lea's's angst in Days(as well as a portal to start Retcon's X story in this timeline) than a character in his own right.
