Unfortunately, I can't link you to where to purchase the DVD set of Wishbone, because there really isn't one. However, I believe it's available to view here on CZcams.

Can't believe I missed this one, the final one just dropped so I had to come back and watch this one.

Even though this episode really does dilute the novel that it doesn't do it justice, I fully admit that seeing this episode when I was just four or five years old (and seeing the Disney movie around the same time) was enough to get me to become a Hunchback fanatic today. So even if the episode fails to successfully represent the novel as an adaptation, being an introduction to the material for young kids was at least something the episode did right, even if it was minor.
Of course, I've seen almost every screen adaptation of 'Hunchback' there is, and all of them take liberties with the material (which is kind of to be expected, with such a popular title that's been around for centuries). Some of these are welcome changes, Esmerelda's characterization (being much nicer to Quasimodo in just about all these adaptations, and wising up to the kind of man Phoebus truly is). But there are also elements that are given significantly more attention like another Esmerelda's affair with the poet Pierre Gringoire, who's a major advocate for justice to the plight of the Romani, as well as being extremely devoted to Esmerelda.
And regarding the Disney version, despite how many people like to point out how sanitized/watered down it is from the novel (but still very dark for a family film), Disney has successfully adapted it for the stage, gave it an awesome expanded score...and made it even darker and allowed it to break free of the bonds of being "child-friendly". Yes, this includes having elements from the book like Frollo's backstory with his brother, him attempting to rape Esmerelda, and yes, even the original sad ending where everyone dies. There are plenty of recordings of the show on CZcams which you can which to see for yourself!
But another detail worth mentioning about the stage version that is included from the novel, is Quasimodo being deaf...which has actually allowed for several productions of the musical to include an actual deaf actor in the leading role, and have him perform the songs in sign language! Yes, really!
Another thing worth noting about the original novel is that Victor Hugo treats Notre Dame as almost its own character, with all the great detail he goes into in describing the cathedral. And a big part of that was that he was being commissioned to write the novel to draw attention to Notre Dame at a time when it was in dire need of repair. (And wouldn't you know it, the cathedral once again needed attention drawn to it after the fire broke out in 2019, and so much attention and maintenance has been given to repair it in time for the world olympics that are set to be held in Paris this year.)

After seeing Cliff Stephen’s as Mafisto in Faust, Sean Hennigan as Frollo in this episode, and Matt Tompkins as Frankenstein’s creation that’s how I decided they were my favorite male actors of the show.

Hunchback is a VERY dark novel. I really like the stage musical version, the one that uses the songs from the Disney movie, but also stays faithful to the book, especially how it ends. Your opinions are seriously valid. It wouldn't surprise me if they made the episode anticipating the Disney version.

Would love for them to do a Disney remake based on that stage musical version, but HIGHLY DOUBTFUL they would for how dark it gets.

Nathaniel was actually mentioned in the "TWISTED TALE" episode, but I think this was the first time he was an actual character in the series.

I never saw this one, but I have only seen the Disney animated movie, so it took away the appeal of book when I attempted to read it. I keep thinking "should I give it another?"

I like that there's a mix of episodes that work and those that don't. It makes your own series more interesting!

Hugo was in Paris during the great siege of 1870, he wrote many letters to various heads of state pleading for them to come to the assistance of " the capital of the world". I think he was smuggled out before the insanity of the commune hit full stride.

Will you do videos that cover the 14 Wishbone stories that exclusive to the books? You can even do a Episode vs. Book video as well and also I would love to see you do videos on cover all The Wishbone Mystery and Wishbone: The Early Years/Tales of a Pup books series as well.

Definitely one of the lower ranked WISHBONE episodes (one of the few where the modern-day story was better). I was in Middle School when this episode came out and I had read the original Victor Hugo book, so this one was a bit of a bummer.

9:50-10:34--I disagree with this point. The writers comparing being clumsy on skates to Quasimodo's existence as a man outcasted for being disfigured and deaf is, in my opinion, one of the weakest points of the episode. I've been visually impaired all my life and, even as a kid, I recognized what an insultingly cheap connection this was, but sadly, it's not uncommon. A lot of kids' media, when trying to talk about disability and/or ableism, does so with generic, "Hey, kids, EVERYONE feels different for some reason!" storylines rather than writing about the more specific situations of being disabled.
Would it have been messed up if Nathaniel was teased for being disabled? Of course. But kids can be mean, and kids with disabilities DO get teased. Portraying that onscreen would've been a fantastic parallel: It would've connected more strongly to Hugo's themes, it would indicate that the writers trusted their non-disabled audience members to empathize with people truly different from them, and most of all, it would have said to every kid with a disability watching, "We see you because yes, you exist."
