I own a 22 Frontier and I love it. If I am a second slower than a taco I’m good. Especially the 10 grand I saved buying it.
The frontier is quicker
10k😂 sure
@@powertools2375yeah dude. Look it up. Thought the same myself but it’s insane. Frontier for the win.
Cheaper with better MPG, superior V6. The VQ38DD is a way better engine than that Camry 2GR-FKS that suffers oil starvation at slight inclines.
Exactly i already just saved too much money for frontier pro 4X 2022 , Tacoma is waste expensive and back seats is too tight for my kids. Mpg is most same.
The Frontier has a 9 speed trans with a 5.42 first gear and a 3.69 axle ratio.
Taco is a 6 speed trans with a 3.60 first gear and a 3.91 axle ratio.
HP, torque, and gearing are factors that determine acceleration.
Love my Frontier, have the P4X trim. Definitely a lot more Tacos on the road, but I like it that way. Both trucks are great.
Yeah they are very comparable!
Frontier beats Tacoma in every important head to head. You name it. Yes including reliability, those C-channel frames in the Tacoma rust and rot, unlike the Frontiers fully boxed frame, which is nuke proof.
-Frontier 310HP > Tacoma 278HP
-Frontier Torque 281 lb-ft >Tacoma 265 lb ft
-Frontier Full Boxed Frame >Tacoma C-Channel Frame
-Frontier Disc Brakes > Tacoma Drum Brakes
Frontier has a premium interior, ride, transmission, seating, head room, materials/fit & finish, more safety features, better crash test, spray-in bed liner, the list goes on and on…not to mention styling, especially the Pro-4X, which would’ve whipped this TRD with all-terrain tires.
Frontier is a good option
I'm a Toyota fanboy and I agree with you.
My 2014 frontier was a beast loved it now I own a 23 Tacoma but it will never be as unique and cool as my old frontier, I do like my Tacoma though I have no complaints.
Bought a '21 Tacoma, my 1st bran spankin' new vehicule. Never been so disappointed.
Why don’t you like it?
Ah that's crappy to hear mate. Why the disappointment? Did you not test drive etc.?
"Held its own"? Seems like the Frontier was the big winner to me, and at much cheaper price! Still once you factor in aftermarket availability of toys, it's a real toss-up. I'll take either!
Yeah the Tacoma is the sales leader and the frontier gets a bad rap sometimes but it’s a great truck.
@@MuscleAmericanit gets a bad rap because of the cvts people keep talking about for some reason. Brain rot lol
DONT DO THESE!!! People will know how GREAT of a truck the frontier is!!!!!! VQ POWER!!!!
I've roasted at least 5 tacos that tried to race my pro4x😅😅
Ha ha I believe it!
I bought a glacier white 2023 Pro 4x on Monday. It's a great truck and I like you don't seem to see too many on the road.
Yeah the pro 4x looks great!
They're all on dealer lots.
No incentives.
Meanwhile two Transmissions later LOL. Great video
All I know is the engine and 9 speed trans in my Frontier is 100x better than my 3rd gen Taco was.
Dude I traded in a 2019 taco for a 23 pro4x. Omg the frontier is so much better in every way. More power, more torque, better shifting, better throttle response, better handling, better mpg, better tech, etc. I had nothing but problems with my 3rd gen taco. Glad it’s someone else’s problem now lol.
@Jerlemi2 Yep!! Totally agree. My 3rd gen Taco had the worst trans I have ever had. Going up1 any hill was an adventure. Over revving and searching for a gear. Amazing for such a popular truck.
Man I want a 2023 so bad just don't have the money for one I will have to wait a year or two but my 2012 frontier is still going strong with 226,000k on it running great 👍👍
I love my 2024 pro4x , it's a awesome midsized truck !
With the Frontier, you don’t have to worry about oil starvation like you do with the Tacoma. Toyota shoved a Camry 2GR-FKS motor in their pickup lol
I'm watching but its too late... I bought a 23 Frontier Pro4x last weekend! I got tired of trying to find a Tacoma TRD Pro in the color choices i wanted! My only beef was it had a short bed and I'd have like to have a 6 foot bed!
I have a 2023 pro 4x, and a 2007 2.5 king cab frontier with 350k miles. A window switch and a coil pack are all that has ever been fixed in 16 years. If you keep the fluid i clean in these vehicles they will last forever.
Everybody likes full-size trucks but they come with full-size problems. I'll stick with reliability.
Wow that’s incredible
It ward how Nissan and Toyota collaboration with both designs
Thanks for the honest review, considering the purchase of a 24 Frontier or Ridgeline due to the fact last standing V6 non turbos, Downsizing from 2010 F150
Nissan Titan I bet you would of liked. I came from a 2010 Tacoma to a 23 Titan pro-4x and it's honestly not much different from length. But width is bigger. It's nice having the space and extra power from the last V8!!
Frontier got it all day long !! 💪💪💪
Gonna have to wash those trucks real good after all the salt got on them.
Looked an TRD off Road and 4XPro both used, both 23's. The frontier was a bit less and I liked it. The thing that blew me away was the deprecation. I don't know why, but the Tacoma is unbeatable at holding it's value. I went with the Tacoma TRD Off Road.
Nissan Frontier pro4x is way better hands down. Happy you like your Tacoma tho
I don't care about depreciation. When I'm done with my trucks they ain't worth shit anyhow.
Excited my 2021 tacoma lease ends in may. Had a 1st gen taco and downgraded to a 3rd gen for some reason. But now I think I am gonna try out the frontier
You’re gonna love it!!!
You won’t be disappointed. Had a 1st gen Tacoma as my first ever truck. Loved it especially the trd supercharger.
Tried a 3rd gen Tacoma they are nothing of what they used to be. Got me a 24 frontier pro4x now. Reminds me of my 1st gen Tacoma.
Show me the price race, how much in the beginning, and how much with maintenance and repairs years later
Love my 23 pro4x
It’s a great truck!
nice video guys I had a lot a fun watching the video, I own a 4x4 SR5 Tacoma and I love it but my respects for the nissan frontier
Tires on the tacoma make a difference in the tug of war.
Yeah but not as much as I was anticipating
I don’t need to know the “generation”. What year are each truck?
2022 Frontier and 2018 Tacoma
I have both of this trucks, but think You guys forgot about the ECT mode on the tacoma that help a lot to pick up speed. Never better than the Nissan, but it make a big difference.
You are right but I got the OTT tune and it makes the truck better than the stock ECT setting if that makes sense.
@@MuscleAmerican yes, if you had tuned different, definitely will run better. 👍
@MuscleAmerican did you have it tuned during tests?
@@jamesmclawhorn8259 yes I had the OTT 9.0 Tune.
Frontier pro4x is still better then the Tacoma!!
You forgot to use the ECT button on the tacoma. It the tow/haul mode. would have helped
I got the OTT tune and it’s better than having the stock ECT setup.
Im a Toyota guy, but i have to give props to Nissan. Looks good too. But i don't buy tacomas for speed, i buy them for offroad capability and of course reliability. You should make this race uphill over rocks and hills. Completely different outcome. Also, lets do this same race 10 years from now, thats if the Nissan is still running
Totally agree. The off-road capability, resale value, and reliability were the 3 main reasons I chose the Tacoma.
Apparently you have been buying the propaganda and never owned a Nissan. Trust me it will surprise you on both fronts.
Lots of frontiers with 400k on them and 1,200,000.
Let's see if the 2024 Taco turbo 4 cylinder engines are still running in 10 years. I know my 2024 Frontier with a proven V6 will he going strong. I had a Taco and the 6 speed trans was crap. Always searching for gears going uphill.
Too much emphasis on off-roading why would a FOOL spend 40-50k for a truck to jump ditches and climb rocks they must have more $$$ than brains??
For a moment I thought the frontier is going to disintegrate
Simple: buy a PRO4X, lift it and put better tires on it and you will have a much better truck then the TRD and you would still spend less $
I have a 06 2wd Frontier and a 4wd 14 Frontier and can dust tacos all day long, the 06 is way faster than the 14 and the Dodge 4.7 RAM or the Ford 4.6 F-150 can't even come close to catching me
Nissan isn’t the Pro4X it has a locking dif!
Frontier has to many safety features that can't be turn off....
False. You can turn all the Nannies off.
@@panchovia Some yes. Some no. It was terrible off roading. Traded for Taco 2023. Much better.
Sorry but massive tire difference in this....
Trd is better off road truck the frontier is a better tow truck outside of having less tech
I have 08 frontier se (300kmiles )and 23 taco;I have to say the frontier is a beast nissan screwup with the transmission problems and turn a lot of customers off.
More transmission issues than your Tacoma?
Rear locker on the Tacoma only works in 4WD Low.
Check out my other video on the anytime locker. It allows you to use it in 2wd
My '14 Pro4X is the same. Did that change?
@@jkahreYes, My 24 pro4x locks in 2wd.
Make another video with the 2024 redesign Tacoma when it becomes available with 326 Hp and 465 Ibs of torque. The Frontier will not even come close.
That’s the plan, I got a deposit down on one. Hopefully I can get it soon.
Yea maybe if the engine doesn't blow on it.
Right. That will make the Frontier TWICE as affordable. 🤣
@@escheidl Its ok Frontier needs all the help it can get with sales. With Tacoma being the highest selling midsized truck in America for 20 Years. 😊 Get what you pay for , cheap junk with the Frontier.
@@highplainsdrifter9849 I'm a Tacoma owner and believer myself. But I wouldn't call the Frontier "cheap junk" by any means. It just doesn't measure up to the Tacoma in many respects. But it is still a good truck and much more easy to obtain than a Tacoma, and I respect it for that. Toyota has raised the bar as well as the price so high with the new Tacoma that it is pretty much unattainable now to many. So comparing a $70,000 TRD Pro to a $40,000 Frontier P4X as if it was in the same light is kinda silly. Of course the Tacoma's going to outperform it. It had better for that kind of money. There's always going to be people out there with deep pockets that can afford all these $60-$90,000 rigs we see the highways scattered with. And I have no doubt we will soon be seeing these high dollar Tacoma's everywhere you look. But it's nice that there are still reasonable trucks like the Frontier available for those that either can't or don't want to spend that kind of coin on a vehicle.
Frontier is better value, but lower resale and worse long term reliability.
The tacoma 3.5 is a downgrade from the older 4.0. Its more than rated peak horsepower numbers that really matter.
I think the weak link in the 3rd Gen Tacoma is transmission. If it had an 8 speed transmission it would make a world of difference.
When I was looking for a truck, I looked at the frontiers and yes, they have more power, but they're considerably more expensive, and not as attractive
Where are you trying to buy a Frontier? So far the only place I have found Toyotas to be cheaper is in Colorado.
@@charlielivermanjr8837 north Louisiana
Frontier more than a caca taco? I'll have to take a trip to Shreveport to see this. That's the first I've heard of Frontier costing more than tacoma, must have been a fully loaded pro4x vs bottom of the line tacoma.
@@DTYREE well attractive is subjective, but here in Wisconsin, apples to apples, the Frontier is cheaper.
Yea tacos are usually 5 to 10k higher in price.
😂 you can't beat Frontier...and definitely with tune fromZ1 you be left in dust. Tacomas are inferior
The Frontier is a good truck
That Tacoma design has been around for 9 years and still looks better than the Frontier.
The Frontier is a sad excuse for a brand "new" redesign truck. Minus the power and drivetrain.
I mean you have your own design studio and the facility to manufacturer all parts for a great looking redesign truck and that's the best you can do?
Hey be happy with your plastic box and drum brakes😅
@@Ashoud_Anobetah reading is fundamental.
Never, never, never put it in 4 high to do a truck pull! 4 low guys. 🤦♂️
The both need to learn how to drive!!!!
2023 PRO4X...Done with Toyota until they build a truck again.TURBOS belong on race cars not gasoline-powered trucks.
Turbos are amazing and the next gen frontier will get one.
Clearly you guys have no idea what you're doing
Tacoma wasn’t designed for drag racing. It was designed for off reading. I would never buy a Nissan. Drove a rental and it was garbage!
Loser!
Looks pretty close.
