RCAF Canada 150 CF-18 Hornet [188734] Startup, Taxi, and Takeoff from Springbank Airport ᴴᴰ

- Every year, the Royal Canadian Air Force paints a CF-18 Hornet for demonstrations at airshows. For Canada's 150th anniversary, they painted this aircraft in what I think is an absolutely perfect livery to commemorate the occasion. Flown by Captain Matthew Kutryk, callsign "Glib", this bird performed this past weekend at the Wings Over Springbank airshow, leaving this morning for what I believe is their next show in Quesnel, British Columbia. This video includes the Canada 150 Hornet starting up, taxiing, and blasting out of Calgary-Springbank Airport, a small airport 10 kilometers west of the city that usually only sees Cessna 172s and the occasional business jet. Enjoy this gorgeous livery departing, with ATC included!
Thanks for watching!

I'm Canadian, but yeah, the RCAF demo Hornets always have something cool to offer in terms of paint schemes. My favorite was the Canada 150 and the Battle of Britain liveries.
Pretty dang cool to see him get in by himself
Pilot climbed on the wing was so cool 👍
Must be really in shape for that!
This plane is gorgeous!
Wow!!!! It looks like Capt. Kutryk did it all himself. Pre flight checks, removed covers, start up, flaps etc. Back in the 1960s, 70s they had the cumbersome generators and hoses........ Technology has come a long way baby.
Say what you want about the RCAF but they have the coolest paint jobs in all of NATO ❤
More cut backs. The pilot has to do everything? Great looking bird.
Stunning looking aircraft nice location Happy 150th Canada liked*
My dream car...
Great Video Mate. This livery is mint on the F18, it really suits it.
A truly lovely looking jet!Suits the Hornet nicely.Liked the way he casually did all his preflight himself.Laid back or what!Like it!Great job as ever mate😎👍!
Super cool to see all those close up shots, awesome video bro!
Thanx Alex...Great shooting
The pilot first inspects his aircraft, climbs onto one of its wings, puts on his gear on the fuselage, and then flies this marvelously painted Hornet ?
What an awesome start up and takeoff sound! Very interesting way of jumping into the jet too.. Fantastic camera work for such a fast moving aircraft! Liked :D
Fantastic!! :D
Nice!
That must have been SUPER LOUD!! :)
I wish they had brought this one to Gatineau back in April. :P Good one!
Talk about "The Right Stuff" ! Solo prep, climbs on wing 0:35 no ground crew support, to save CDN some Tax $ !? ... Putting on flight suit on wing in 30C heat? ... bit of a 'near-miss' safety issue for pilot, falling off fuselage etc 0:49 ?! ... Come On CDN DnD, bit more spend and support of pilots at airshows ! But amazing how these pilots make due, and get the job done, just like they would if ever called upon to defend CDN !
nice video managed to catch 188734 at Prestwick 27/10/2019 now back in her grey colour scheme
Nice, but does not change the fact, that replacing these aircraft is at least 10 years overdue.
Did the airport not have anyone to stow the ladder after Glib got into the jet instead of making him climb onto the wing himself?
and montreal is 350 years old
He did do it all by himself; Canada doesn't use the 10 man start team like the USA - cheaper on hotels too !!! No doubt he used his own car also vs a "rental" and forget the fancy boarding ladder and chock pullers; hey its an airshow not Topgun.
If the RCAF...had more ground crew they wouldn't have enough money for 3 Star hotels for border crashing immigrants.
F-18 has it's own self-contained ladder to the cockpit (although he didn't use it so he could put on his flight gear)
