As a much older player I think it's super rad that she was like "I started playing guitar because of guitar hero" with no shame - hell yeah!

1:35 WOW Melanie, I started playing Guitar because of Guitar Hero 3 in 2008. There should be a documentary on that video game and the generation of guitarists it produced. I had zero interest in guitar until I got Guitar Hero 3 for Wii at christmas.

In all my years I can't remember playing that Cmaj7 with the middle finger on the 6th string root in order to hammer the 3rd. Old dogs...new tricks!!

@@daMyahStar Try setting the gain a bit higher, either by the guitar’s volume knob or by the amp’s volume/master or both.
If gain doesn’t simplify clearer hammer-ons, then consider lowering the action (the distance between the strings and the fretboard), but do this only after watching a few videos on how to set-up a guitar properly. Good luck
@@gideonk123 thanks for the advice! Melanie was going direct in to a Benson Monarch amp. But ... she can sound good on pretty much any guitar.
@@daMyahStar If you can add a compressor it will fix that. Compressors make quiet sounds louder and loud sounds quieter. If I were to play a tapping riff completely clean, it might make basically no sound, but the same riff with a little bit of gain and a compressor pedal will be loud and clear.

I’m curious how many of us started playing guitar because of guitar hero. I remember going over my friend’s house to play guitar hero 2. Ended up getting guitar hero 3 for the wii years later and fell in love with guitar.

the vibrato tips are really good, it's nice to attack the neck without trying to bore a hole in it with my fingers the way i normally do.
Coming from a more music making background, I found that this video is really great introduction on everything about R&B, the rules not only applies to Guitar Playing only, it also applies to Vocals, Other Instruments and literally is just R&B. The underlying concept is basically the same and it shows Melanie is really good at R&B and with musical talents. Amazing to watch!
None of this had to do with R&B, none of the tips were even useful tips
