  • How To Remove FZ09 MT09 Air Filter Fuel Tank ECU And Install USB Power Port - Here's how to get in to the guts of your bike to do all kinds of routine maintenance. The manual tells you to have the dealer do this stuff and that's just ridiculous! This is a 10 minute job once you know what to do. Put the bike on a rear stand. Remove the seat. Remove the side panels, Put the tank on the rear. Simple! If you want to add a power port there are 1000 ways to do so. I didn't want anything permanent or in-sight since I'll rarely need it, but it's there now when I do. I used this adapter: amzn.to/2qXLmuV

    I've used TWO'S vids before (thanks TWO). One tip, if your doing the gas tank balancing act on the FZ/MT for the first time disconnecting the fuel vent hoses is unnecessary. Push them up from the shifter area, they will move up through the ties with no problem with plenty of slack to turn the tank around. Mine must have been super glued on at the nipple this was so much easier.

    Love your videos buddy. I did the LED turnsignal swap on my fz09 and the brake pad upgrade....FANTASTIC simple upgrades...brake pads did wonders...i was gonna do steel lines but after pad upgrade i'm SUPER happy and agree with you, no need for steel lines. i'd have to ride one with steel lines and be amazed to even consider it. the pad upgrade was magic. and LUV the LED turn signals...did cheaper flush mounts....cleans up bike and now bike fits thru back garage door since the orange oem PUMPKIN lights are sticking out hitting everything.

Thank you again!!

    For routing wires: what I did was actually leave two front screws in the tank but loosen them so that I can use them as a hinge and just tilt the tank forward.
    Anyway, thank you for making this! I'm installing a USB charger from Cycle Gear and this made the whole job so much easier.

    Extremely helpful video! Saved my bacon. I will comment on the air filter thing though. I live in a dry dusty desert so while the filter may still last the life of my ownership, it's gonna have to be replaced eventually. I got a K&N filter for $40 and swapped it when I pulled the ECU. I figure worst case scenario I've just done some maintenance a bit early and I'm fine with that.

    Just finished installing the Yamaha OEM heated grips for my brand new 2018 MT09. I plugged it into the SAE gray connector (wrapped under black electrical tape with a plug), this is under the air scoop on the clutch side. Is that the correct one for the heated grips anyone know? I read many posts on the internet and just don't want to plug it into the Aux 2A DC port since it may blow the fuse when the wattage imcreases. What I'm looking for is the 5A SAE port.

    • @TwoWheelObsession
      @TwoWheelObsession  Před 6 lety +1

      #1, it's already used for what it's intended for, the fog lights. #2, no, they don't. I've already done a vid for those like you that think an open USB connection magically drains a battery.

    • @warlok9
      @warlok9 Před 5 lety

      True, even though he is already using the accessory power port for the fog lights, most of us won't ever install fog lights and SHOULD use the accessory port because it is easier to access and it turns on and off with the ignition. Many of the USB ports they sell on Amazon have led lights on them and WILL drain the battery. Plus if you leave a usb cable plugged into the USB port it will drain battery as well.
