Some fans and I are not mad at Selena at all we are mad at Univision for not being honest about the “performance” they were hyping up the fans and constantly repeating that it was a live performance which was not
Definitely I do not get why we have to bring up peoples disabilities and health conditions ...there is always a way to accommodate Sel most probably didn't have control and her team didn't handle this well. Her fans including me are disappointed with the insinuation. I'm sure people that are angry/disappointed is because they took time/energy and made arrangements to watch their fave. I hope Selena/her team can address this esp to the latin community.
How are they angry?!! She is keeping people safe but not showing up to crowded events. It honestly should have happened. I do think her team could have made it live but at a different location but I don’t understand why they would so mad when people SHOULD be staying home.

Selena only confirmed to Univision that baila conmigo would be presented at the award show. It never said it would be live. Univision made a business decision to promote it as live so they can gain views and have better ratings (which they did). Selena has no say in how they run their show and how they promote it. I honestly went back to check to see if they used the words "live" and so far I haven't seen it or found any evidence of it. They only said Selena will be giving them a special presentation, which is what happened. Fans just assumed it would be live, which is honestly ridiculous to me because she's barely learning the language and I highly doubt she's confident enough to sing Spanish live. Maybe in the future when she's more fluent and can understand the language better.
I didn’t want to say it, but I agree with you, I don’t think Selena is confident enough to sing in Spanish live. And I’m glad that you are pointing out that she’s barely making an effort to learn the language, because I agree completely. She says she’s been wanting to make a Spanish album for ten years and that she “needs to learn Spanish,” but she never once thought during those ten years that she should achieve a functional level of Spanish speaking first? It bothers me that she’s trying to profit off making Spanish music without having enough respect for the language and culture to obtain a basic proficiency in it and to demonstrate that first before putting out a project like this. Also, she had no business advertising her two Spanish singles in México and Brazil if she wasn’t going to interview or actually perform for any Latin networks. She’s done plenty of interviews about her new Spanish album on American platforms but not a single interview on a platform specifically targeted towards Latinos and people who live in Latin America, whose pockets she is obviously trying to tap into.
@@alyssavargas1746 I'm sure her wanting to create a Spanish album was always a desire and idea that was never put into action during those ten years. I agree that she could/should have been learning Spanish and practicing the language (which I'm sure she has but not enough), but also I know she's always busy and always working on other things behind the scenes. I don't blame her for not being fluent by now, she's gone through a lot. Many American artists that have created Spanish music do not know the language themselves, but people still supported them. I'm glad she's actually trying to learn the language and be fluent one day. Promotion is promotion. She maybe isn't doing interviews on Spanish platforms because she wants to be able to answer fluently in Spanish. We don't know. Either way, her team should set up interviews for her target audience, even if she can't answer in Spanish (or maybe that would piss people off too? 🤷🏻♀️). I don't know what going on, but I know Selena doesn't have bad or malicious intents. I know she doesn't want to harm or disrespect anyone, and for that I am not mad nor feel disrespected.

To be fair, I’m not requiring that she should be fluent either. However, I’ve never heard her speak any Spanish at all, not even Spanglish or a word or two of Spanish here and there. That’s what makes the idea of her putting out an entire album in Spanish so jarring. I just think she should have waited to put out a project like this when she was truly prepared and fully confident in her proficiency in the language. By putting out a project like this, in this way, she is holding herself liable to being judged if she never “gets around” to being able to converse in Spanish.
@@alyssavargas1746 Really? I've heard her speak Spanish before in interviews and stuff way back when she was on wizards of waverly place, even now on her new cooking show. She's even put out Spanish versions of her music way back when her first album came out, it just didn't get big. She may not be proficient enough yet but she has definitely shown interest and efforts before, it's not something out of the blue. But yes, she is putting herself out there to get judged by everyone on her Spanish

I personally waited to see her perform as I assumed she would perform live (the award show promoted it that way). I was indeed upset that I wasted my time waiting for her performance when it was just a music video alternative. Her team also posted the performance promotion today when it was yesterday. I think she needs new management to help her shine and succeed more. As well as to further take her career to the next level, seems like she’s been stuck and hasn’t been able to flourish to her full potential.

I was one of many waiting!!! the show is like 4 hours long and they left her special performance till the very end insinuating Selena Gomez was going to perform live.
I really wanted to see her live! The thing is Sel never promoted her performance throughput the weeks nor recent just today in the morning, show was yesterday night.

I don’t think people are mad that her performance was virtual. I think they are upset because the performance didn’t seem genuine. It was a pre-taped performance that appeared and sounded to have been edited quite significantly. This makes fans lose confidence that Selena will perform her Spanish material live in the future. It’s also notable that because she skipped the red carpet for the event, she wouldn’t have had to do any Spanish interviews like all of the other performers. I’m curious what she will do in the future if Latin networks (like Univision, which hosted Premio Lo Nuestro) want to interview her about her upcoming album. If she went so far as to place the advertisements for her new album in Latin America, she should speak to the press there about the project, which she has yet to do.

May I say, as a latin woman, I was glad she wasn't performing live, Premios lo nuestro was the first award show, and with all covid madness it was insanely irresponsible, I was fearing every single time everyone was close when they were on stage. So i was hyped by the responsibility of the role model that I chose, and lets remember that she is also for thousand of people from ALL around the world. Besides, we already knew it wasn't going to be live, it was all over instagram that it was rumoured to be the alternative video. I've been seeing all this media outlets saying fans are mad, but I haven't seen the first ugly comment, did you watch all the comments from the video? everyone is loving it, all instagram post I've seen are preaching her, so I don't understand that much, I'm confused. I'm happy, she is happy and safe, thats more important for me. She is also working extremely hard in so many things at the same time, leaves me speechless. Anyways, just my honest opinion, as always, sending so much love from Colombia 🇨🇴

Not mad at her at all. She should not be at an awards show right now. It may have been misleading. I love Selena. Only thing I constantly complain about is she dances too stiff in the hips.
