How do you know if you’re getting the new radio?? Note from Danny:
“All of our in-stock radios, in all colors, are the latest version. Anyone that has had their order ship within the past two weeks has a new one.
Probably the easiest way to tell for sure that you have a latest version model is to check the STEP menu and make sure 20K is an option in the list. Adding 20K step was a firmware update that was also added for this second batch and first-batch radios won’t have it.”

WOW....very PROFESSIONAL Dude! The shirt and tie is something we don't see on most YT channels, but I wish we did as it adds validity and integrity. Congrats to Danny and his company for working with Wouxun and getting the problem resolved. This is a company I want to do business with. Keep up the good work Bro. 73
Oh damn, professional Dude.
This radio interested me, but I was waiting to see how this played out. Appreciate the update Dude.
A local ham bought one of the first batch and has had nothing but good things to say about this radio other than the filtering. I'm glad they fixed this radio as we need more good radios on the market that work on 6 and 1.25 meters. If Wouxun is listening let's have a 50W mobile version next.... Thanks for the update HRD!
Dude and the radio clean up well! Good to see it fixed. That's a great response by them.
Nice, but without a spectrum analyzer how will you know what version you bought?
Thanks for the update! Good to see more manufacturers are taking on feedback and improving their products.
Glad they addressed that!
This is awesome news. I think I'll be getting one when I visit next year.👍🍻
Considering that the fix may require changes to the pcb, ie. Additional Components, Filters, Xtal Heater, Shadind, Shielding. I'd be a bit pessimistic here.
But, if they can pull-it-off in just the Firmware, this would be the Best radio a market !
Nice tie btw...
These “fixed” videos raise more questions than they answer. What happened the first time? How was it fixed? What reasonable assurance do we have that it won’t happen again (e.g., Apple using cut-rate components in their not at all cut-rate laptops, changing those components when too many machines fail, then bringing back the same components a couple of generations later)?
Well done! It's nice to see that Wouxan stepped up their game and were accountable (and cared) to actually fix the spurious emissions issue. Keep fighting the good fight, brother! ☎
I was actually considering this and the Anytone 878 UVII+... still haven't decided, but this really makes the comparison even closer. Maybe you could do a comparison of these radios as I'm sure thousands of Hams are currently experiencing the same dilemma! Decisions, decisions...
They’re different radios. 878 gives you DMR and 2,000 memory channels, vs. quad-band and 999 memory channels. Superhet v. direct conversion really depends on the quality of each. 878, if I’m correct, can be MARS modded in software: I’m not sure about the Wouxan. Different GPS implementation. 1.25m on the W, but less than 1.5W on the band at max power. 6m on the W, 4w max power. The list goes on. Your best approach would be to decide what’s important to you, prioritize those items (you probably won’t find everything in one HT) then see which radio best meets your criteria. 73 de KN6NPZ
I want this radio mostly for its 6M performance over the other bands. Now 220Mhz there are few radios the so I am interested there as well.
I’d love to see cross band duplexing tested as well as single band repeating. I’m curious if it is even possible.
I honestly want to see the power before and after the filtering issues were fixed. Ive seen a lot of conflicting power tests. Im hoping for 5w at least on 6m with the clean version. Would love to do some repeater work on 6m where i live but if its under 4w idk if ill make it without a dipole on my roof
You’re all dressed up for a video! LOL!
Quad band? QUAD band??? Cool! 73!
Knowing that BTW has enough clout to pressure Wouxun into making the necessary improvement is, as it should be. Actually, Wouxun SHOULD be taking BTW seriously since they're selling their radios for them. Unfortunately, when myself and others complained to BTW about the major screw up with their KG-S72C CB radio only putting out 2 watts in the AM mode, nothing was done. I would've purchased several of them if Wouxun actually cared about their customers, but they don't.
Thanks for the info. Glad I was able to help BTW
Is 6M really worth anything with that antenna!
What are they doing for those of us who bought the early radios who have the same issue that were reported regarding spurious emissions?
Great question. I am uncertain. If you are having the issue, I'd recommend reaching out to them as I cannot speak for them. Thanks.
What I really don’t like is this, we don’t all have the kit to go doing these tests, so we are completely at the whim of companies to ship good product. How can we ever know if they really fix these issues or just make sure you get a good unit…
Random quality tests. I would be happy to buy one and send it to the dude for testing. Better than testing a factory selected unit. IMO
What’s the output power on gmrs
This is why these chinese radios need to be tested to check they have the correct filtering on tx and rx to the right standard
I was under the impression this was a full duplex radio - I guess not.
That's what cellphones are.
Hope they trade out all of the rubbish radio to the new ones free of charge for those who bought the first batch
Gee does this mean nasty hams will stop yelling at you while you are trying to do POTA? What is it with these geezers and their hatred of POTA? Lol!
The official name is Sad Hams 😉
