Hello Yasha, thank you so much for the honesty in this video. I wanted to ask you a question if possible. I agree that it may be worth turning down a full ride or large financial aid from a lower ranked school to go to the top tier school for the reasons you've mentioned. I have found, however, it is really difficult to define lower and higher ranked schools, as its super ambiguous. As someone who has been in the process, if you had this hypothetical scenario, what would you pick? A full ride or substantial aid to a "lower" tiered school versus good aid but not full aid to a mid/high tier school like Geisel or Iowa? These hypotheticals are difficult because it begs two questions: how much more should one pay for the higher ranked school, and is that "higher" ranked school truly any better? I wonder what your 2 cents are on this. Choosing can be so hard!

I would honestly go to the bigger / better school or the school with a better match list. This is because you want to set yourself up for success. With step 1 being pass/fail, school rank DOES come into play more. Also look at which school has the residency you want - more important if you want to go into something competitive. Just my thoughts!!

How important is it specifically for a radiology residency? I honestly been thinking about continuing an HBCU education, but not sure if I should go to a “higher tier” school” to be more competitive

Specifically for radiology - radiology is becoming more competitive. I really do believe going to the best school possible is always worth it if it works for you financially.

I believe you have to take USMLE. Check out my videos for IMGs.

I agree about how wrong it is when people say, “you just have to get into med school.” It just gets harder haha
