    Great job but Wrong torque procedure. 200lbs ft 3x while spinning wheel hub back off til loose (1/2turn) ,then 100ft lbs 3x rotate tire, then back off 1dimple or 1/4turn. This is for this pro torque style Jamnut

    Was looking for a video to help tear down and repack my boat trailer hubs. Interesting how the parts are all the same with the size and weight being the only things that vary. Great video! Thank you.

    Clean axle and wheel hub surfaces with a emery flap wheel on a die grinder . Apply #2 Permatex sealant on the outside of metal banded wheel seals . Clean cup and cone with either . 5/16~18 tap installed in cordless drill to clean out hubcap bolt holes . Apply anti-seize to hubcap bolts .

    I watched this video and I agree with the last comment for the procedure for Pro torque nuts, and not backing of 1/4 turn is going to result in that wheel running hot. Also you put in way to much grease, with that much grease you have no room for expansion or plug the vent hole on the end of the stub and that will cause that seal to start to leak. I also never put a seal in dry, I always put a little bit of oil on the seal before installing and a little bit on oil on the spindle before installing the hub no matter what brand of seal I install. I also switched from Stemco seals to National seals and I have way less seal failure with National. I do use the Pro torque nuts. I also never put the gasket on dry, I put some anti-seize between the cap & gasket & gasket & hub, I fine that the gasket will not stick to the cap or hub. I know some techs would and manufactures would disagree with me but I have been doing this for 30 years and have found this method to be full prof. We also retorque our wheel bearings on our trailer 1st a year and have found that helps a great deal to prevent leaking seals.

    Do you have to fill the hole with hung with semi fluid grease. Shouldn’t we leave some space inside as to not create too much pressure.

      @fleettechpph5255  Před 4 lety +2

      Sorry for the really late reply but the socket you are looking for is going to depend on the axle nut on your trailer there are several brands and styles and they all have different sized nuts in 6 and 8 point and different locking mechanisms some have folding tabs, some have set screws, and some have spring clips you would have to take the cap off and see exactly what set up you have. The grease is Delo SFE EP it's a synthetic semi-fluid Grease

    Complete noob lol gave me a good chuckle when you got the hub stuck to the drum after pounding in the seal and then stuck your hand through the hub getting grease all over your arm hahha. Also your final pack on the bearings isn't to spec but looks like a good cheater procedure. Sometimes there's too many errors following specs. this way is is better for newbs.

    • @mgventure1
      @mgventure1 Před 3 lety

      TMC RP631B says hub should be 1/2 full. put a light coating of semi fluid grease on fasteners and inside hubcap to prevent corrosion. Do not fill hubcap and make sure the hubcap vents are clear.
