That’s what I’m here to do! Been in love since listening to my parents’ vinyl back in the day! Was shocked to learn John was not “born on the bayou,” lol.
I was in 6th grade and this song reminds me of my growing up in the middle west, the 4th of july, america, summertime...and all the great memories from my childhood. It still doesn't get better than this! Thank you, CCR for the fantastic memories!
There will NEVER be another singer/songwriter/performer like John Fogerty. I've loved CCR and Fogerty since I first heard them over Armed Forces Radio while serving with the army in 'Nam in 1969. CCR was the #1 band in America at that time. Probably in Vietnam too! "Fortunate Son" has always been a Vietnam Vet favorite. God Bless you John, and your family.
I have followed CCR since my girl friends days iN El Cerrito high school in 1969. Still going strong and she is still as lovely as the day we met in 1965..
was several times in The Bayou / New Orleans area , this song reminds me on the place and impressing slow running Misisippi river ............ can listen days to it
Winter 1977 I offered an acquaintance some 190 proof grain alcohol in the parking lot of this bar. Back in the bar he proceeded to sway back and forth eyes closed in front of the jukebox playing this song. Bartender keepin' an eye on him much to the bar patrons amusement.
This was always my favorite song by any band. Including my favorite. The Rolling Stones . This song is sort of a romantic ideaization of a feeling some people would like to feel if they were the person living the life portrayed. What young male guy that loves adventure , nature and wandering through the woulds would not love to live this ideal. There is a lot of testosterone and coolness in this portrayal of fantasy . At the same time it is a very realistic feeling someone living on the bayou might have on a good day .
I live on the Mississippi bayou ,left rural California in 2015 ,when I'm in my boat with my old hound dog flying through the swamp this song is blasting in my head even an old male guy that loves nature and adventure I made this my life 😊
В этой композиции все партии придуманы идеально. И соло, и ритм, и бас-гитара красиво ведет свою партию. И ударник классно работает. Ну, а вокал - это просто неподражаемо гениально.
Hoodoo is the correct word . The dictionary reads : a person or thing that causes bad luck . Variation of voodoo . But used in this reference, it might mean an apparition ; in this case , a strange figure appearing suddenly and thought to be a ghost .
Man, do I miss my blue sparkle Kustom 2x12 amp, and this band, and playing this song live for 2 hours straight at George's Steakhouse in Cocoa Beach back when I was 14 years old (nobody cared, as long as you could jam). And I miss a bunch of friends older brothers who didn't make it back from "who do there" - I think CCR was playing in a lot of hootches over there.
While we generally agree with the sentiment expressed in your comment, CLEARLY, the audio on THIS video is the orginal studio recording. Notice how audio and video don't even sync up.
1970. My mother bought me tickets to CCR, NOLA Municipal Auditorium. They opened with this song. I was never the same.
