LOVE THESE TWO PROFESSIONALS! You touch a very delicate spot for me. The very intelligent child that got neglected by the system. That was my first son at the time. Everyone in the school kept on saying how smart he was, and when finally he was legible for services, they weren't sufficient for him or "inappropriate". He skips school all the time. Looking back, I don't blame him because he needed a different approach. He even faked the test at the Doctors for diagnosis of ADHD, that's how smart he was. Teachers ignored me and didn't appreciate my strong instincts. As a foreigner also they thought I was just an idiot. I am writing this to help other people like I wished they did for me. Now he is doing great and he remembers how awful the system was for him on comparasing to other kids with more severe disabilities.

This helped me understand the meaning of FAPE when it was referenced by a candidate for the school district I live in.
And I have family and friends who have kids who needed some support.

This is very helpful information! When working with my clients, this is the kind of educational training I want to be providing them so that they will be able to better advocate for their children during the ARD process.

This is exactly what I am up against and fighting for my daughter to get in school. The school told me that she could only get an iep if she needed sped, and that if she were to get approved for an iep that she would HAVE to miss one of her elective classes every other day and go to sleep in a separate resource room. So I didn't even get her evaluated. She has a 504 plan but they won't follow it and now the counselor and a teacher are bullying her. She's always been in the honor roll and in gifted classes. She has bipolar and is struggling had this year. She's even relapsed a started cutting again a few weeks ago and is talking about suicide again. The school does not care. They are horrible!

I'm pretty sure this is suppose to be the case to begin with because since they decided to make it a law, to go to school than it is not state education and schooling by the state, because of this is must by in definition to be free unless they decide you do not have to go to school by law. Thats why you won't see country's like russia and china forcing people to pay for schooling because its a state schooling program in which is demanded. Education is any essential kid a person may need to learn.; What place in laws do you look for laws around schooling and public schools?
