  • The Special Problems of Photographing the Very Small - A presentation to the Kelso Camera Club, Scotland
An unusual video to start the year - this video is a recording of a talk give earlier on the day this video is released. I was talking to one of my favorite groups, the Kelso Camera Club, in the Borders of Scotland. I have been planning to cover this same topic in an upcoming video but as I ended up talking about every detail of my workflow, from catching to stacking, I have decided to release the discussion for my CZcams audience (you!) because I thought you might enjoy it. I am sorry about the quality of the audio and video, but they are actually not at all bad considering this was a transatlantic videoconference in the middle of the business day!
Thanks to the Kelso Camera Club for inviting me and for providing me with a copy of the recorded meeting, after my own recording setup malfunctioned halfway through the talk.
I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to visit with my Kelso friends again, and if you are ever lucky enough to find yourself in the Edinburgh area of Scotland, do yourself a favor and drive south and out into the country for the afternoon.
Coming very soon is an in-depth look at two amazing new RGBW LED products that you will want to hear about.
If you are awaiting a reply to your email, it may be a little while yet. My already terrible typing seems to have worsened since my tussle with the virus.
See you in a few days!ME & MY GEAR
    (or my gear and I)
When in the studio I use the Nikon D850 as my main camera - amzn.to/3zEznWK
It is always wearing a gorgeous black device called a 24-70mm f/2.8 zoom - my favorite video and portrait lens - amzn.to/3zzaoUy

    A Nikon D3400 for emergencies - amzn.to/3xbwXgu
    A Fujifilm XT-2, with a battery grip - amzn.to/3l3Agnw
Without any Fuji glass, I use a TS adapter from Kipon and any Nikkor lens I like - it is an awesome TS adapter - amzn.to/2Vikjze
My studio lights are basic Neewer panels (LED) - they are really very good, but I aspire for something more powerful - amzn.to/2Wk8Xel
I use Audio Technica shotgun microphones in the studio, - amzn.to/3iQLNnv
but I also have a Pro Caster from Australian mic-maker Rode - amzn.to/3rDPqkx
who also make my DSLR microphone - amzn.to/3iTxfU6
and my wireless microphone system - amzn.to/371C8oD
I record all my sound separately onto the awesome Zoom H5 Digital Audio Recorder. - amzn.to/3BM8aTG

That is just some of the stuff I use - if you have any questions about my macro gear, or my recording equipment, just ask.
All my audio, music and sound effects comes for Epidemic Sound - I have been with them for about 3 years and they are pretty awesome - www.epidemicsound.com
All the photography you see on my channel, in my videos and on my website, was done by me. I tell you that so that you know I would never blame another photographer for my photographic mediocrity. But I love taking pictures, so I do.
