What I'm hoping for are some more hidden gems, not every good player has to cost a bomb.
I loved back in the day when we'd sign players like Chicharito. While that particular player wasn't a superstar, we knew we had a capable back-up whenever we needed him.

@TrueBroski79 yeah, great examples. 👍 Vidic in particular. You can't tell me that in an era where Real Madrid and Barcelona sign loads of superstars for good value from South America, that we can't sign at least a few gems by looking around.

If I were Ratcliffe, I'd tell Mitchell he has the freedom to do whatever he wants with the first team. Everyone sells, and no manger or scout is safe . Build a football team that wins games more consistently and performs to a higher level.

definitely, in order for the club to be serious, the club needs to be focused on it being top in every single regard, from the manager, to scouting and recruitment, i think if they believe in ten hag, then ten hag needs to give them the blueprint to the team he wants in terms of how they fit his philosophy and profiles, and have them take control of signing the players for him because he can’t sign people he knows forever, it can backfire on him soon, if ten hag gives them the blueprint, the club can build an elite team that can play his style of football

@Red-wr4bg while I see you point and agree to some extent, even the manager is up for a move in a new Manchester United rebuild. It's not that I don't Ten Hag is a good manger it's that everyone from the has to be on the same page and I can tell you from just looking at where Mitchell has been ( if he comes in ) Ten Hag style isn't the type of manger that works as Mitchell like rock in roll football similar to how Liverpool, Rebull, and the Pochettino Tottenham side.

    • @chrispickens9719

@iiEchoUK his job isn't necessarily to win as much as it is to put the manager in place and give him the tools to win, to which he has done everywhere he's been . At United, it's more likely he'll just be in charge of recruiting, but he's better at that than anyone at the club at the moment

No manager has been safe anyway, the reason United have been dog for a decade now is because they’ve not given a single manager the time required to get to where they want to be… Everyone expects some sort of Mourinho/Conte one season wonder shit, that isn’t a thing anymore, and even if it was it’s temporary, not sustainable.

  • @Red-wr4bg
    @Red-wr4bg Před 8 měsíci +16

paul mitchell at utd will very much help united rebuild its squad, we fail season in season out because we spend big on players and hope it works out rather than spending smart and efficiently on under the radar players of top quality, liverpool and arsenal are perfect examples of how we should be building the squad, find high quality players who fit the correct profile, and move fast and smart to sign them at a good price, a rebuild doesn’t take that much money, it takes competency

    • @phightinphil25

Ideally in this stage we shouldn't be buying Sancho when we got him, we should be getting him for cheap when he failed somewhere else and rebuilding him. Sort of what Arsenal did with Odegaard, Everybody knew how good he could be but the returns before he went to Arsenal were mid. They seemingly have helped him rebuild his confidence and take massive steps forward with his development and now he is one of the better young players in football.

In as much has I like Paul Mitchell, I had been pushing for Marc Overmars before realizing that Manchester United wouldn’t be able to hire him due to the reasons he left Ajax.
But for better options I’d go with either of Jordi Cruyff or Mateu Alemany reason being if we want to continue with Erik ten Hag as the manger, he/we don’t need just a Director of Football but a Director of football who well understands the style of football that the many wants to play and he can come in and make the it the style of football Manchester United has an institution would implore to play from the seniors down to the full academy.
Paul Mitchell might be good no doubt I like him but what style of football is he known for is a question.
It’s how I tell people that Manchester City themselves had been subconsciously preparing for the arrival of Pep since 2010 when they appointed Txiki as their Director of football.

For me personally I agree with you but Paul Mitchell should still come in. In an ideal world I'd love to see Jean Claude-Blanc come in as CEO, Alemany as DoF and Paul Mitchell as Head of Recruitment. Paul Mitchell absolutely excels at recruitment and he can revolutionize our success rate in the transfer market. Alemany can oversee the entire football department and link everything together and also deal with issues such as the Sancho situation. Lastly Blanc can oversee the entire club vision and direction both commercially and sporting which his track record shows he's excellent at doing.

  • @k4shmiriblade661
    @k4shmiriblade661 Před 8 měsíci +3

What you’re saying Dave is that United need a head of recruitment and not a director of football. Because it seens like you’re completely unaware that at Southampton the director of football was Les Reed and not Mitchell. Mitchell at Spurs was again their head of recruitment and his recruitment was a mixed bag with good signings like Son and Trippier mixed in with failures like Vincent Janssen, Clint Njie and Wanyama who cost Spurs a reported £41m combined which was a waste of money. It's not a surprise Levy wasnt too pleased with Mitchell.
Mitchell's only experience of being a director of football was at Monaco. And in his two years at Monaco, they didn’t even make the champions league. Mitchell left Monaco in 6th place and his successor Thiago Scuro has since come in and sacked the head coach Mitchell hired and oversaw the transfer window by appointing Adi Hutter and they're currently doing very well. Mitchell is a experienced head of recruitment but a very inexperienced Director of football. And if he's hired at United as the Director of football then he'll be learning on the job. And it's not the job of the DoF to scout players but rather that is the job of scouting department.

Lindelof massively involved in both goals with excellent passing and progressive runs as LB - a completely foreign position to him and kudos for helping us win the game. Underrated by Sofascore (really gotta fix algorithms imo), while I often see wingers like Rashford and Antony get way high rating without much worthwhile attacking involvement. To blame Lindelof for the pen is utterly absurd, yes it was a bad pass and poor positioning (there are 3-4 players that can do a job since that move). Still McTominay sole offender in that incident, if that was a hand and not arm he should be sent off actually (deliberate handball).
Dalot is good against opposition at our own level or worse than us. In big games I think he'll be challenged 1v1 (maybe a bit too aggressive in pressing high, why AWB often preferred) and not trusting his teammates to cover his position when getting deep into opposition half. However, I think he's changing and doing more of what is asked of him - crosses, progressive runs with the ball. These are numbers he should've had past seasons and probably why Ole didn't trust him. Hope he'll have a good game vs City.

SJR must still be able to give in funds to sign players instead of being reluctant like Woodward. Mitchell must be given authority to oversee everything if we want to go back to the top. Trust me, it'll take little time to catch up with the gunners though a little bit longer to catch up with City. He still must know that he's coming to the biggest club in England, so don't expect polishing players and sell them off as it has been at liepzig, Southampton n Monaco. Given ten hag at the wheel, we should give young talents time as they get embodied in the new philosophy.

Seems like every player Manchester United will be interested is going to be elevated in price. We need to scout hidden gems discretely. Build future partnerships with clubs.
I have a shortlist of 7 players that can fit in United’s club. From high to low valuation.
I’m going to give you a freebie. For the LCB position. I really hope it gets relayed to the Manager.
Facundo Medina is a prototype Lisandro Martinez replacement. He can be available for about 18M or 21M plus add ons or a flat fee of 23M should be a fair and reasonable valuation.

It’s the lack of even 35% of a plan that is screwing us over. Eth shouldn’t have to be a director of football as well. He should just have veto power or a veto vote in case of getting players he doesn’t want or see fitting his system.
The counter to that is a dof who is constantly planning with eth.

Agreed. In one sense Ten Haag (who I support) is partially to blame for bad recruitment as many of our underperforming and overpaid signings were his idea. In another sense, it is not his job to head up recruitment and any decent club would have a competent director of football, which we don't. If we solve that problem, everything else gets better.

ETH has been backed, possibly too much, focusing to much on HIS targets. The other problem is, look how good Newcastle look despite having a team that should have been nowhere near us.
The reason we need a DOF is so someone is making the correct purchases for ETH, not letting ETH decide who they are. If ETH leaves we are now stuck with Antony who would likely not soon many coaches at all.

If man utd signed players based on playing fifa career mode or fm they'd have a better squad. The club is a joke.

How on earth did we let CEO's with little knowledge of football to run this club no wonder we have been scammed in transfers market

If I were Ratcliff I would not put my money and the club's destiny in the hands of one or other outsider manager.
I would mention my ambition, design a strategy and write a job description for a DoF and recruit one.

This guy is supposed to be a football genius, yet he praises players like Dalot and Antony. Utterly useless players. Put the stats down and watch the game with your eyes Statman.

Dalot literally scored the winner against Sheffield when no other player could step up against a team with 1 point. You don’t half talk shit JP-dc9rg.

@@jhpfdijtuiweruotthat’s just one example though. Been on loan for a season of that time at the club and did incredibly well for Milan, on top of that he literally wasnt played under Ole because he had his favourites week in week out. He was consistently brilliant at the start of last season before injury and even Ronaldo, one of the best footballers of all time sings Dalots praises but of course a CZcams commenter knows more than Ronaldo and Ten Hag. Hilariously arrogant.

Thank you. Last video he was praising Antony, today it's Dalot. He said people like me that criticize Antony don't know football 🤣😂🤣. Dalot is ass.

@@Mufcw1999 Man shut up! This is the problem at united. We've been dogshit for so long that average players look like ballers to us. Dalot is a poor fullback. He is okay going forward and absolutely garbage at defending. One defensive blunder after another. Wasn't it just a couple weeks ago that he cost us a CL game at home to Gala? Most of these players are not good enough to play at united and Dalot is one of them.
