- Takeover Bid is a British game show that aired on BBC1 from 26 May 1990 until 15 July 1991. It is hosted by Bruce Forsyth and assisted by Claire Sutton. The basic premise of Takeover Bid was that of a "reverse game show", where the contestants were given prizes at the beginning of play, and the object of the game was to try and keep them.

This just demonstrates how great Bruce was. This whole thing was adlibbed. He was a masterful entertainer. Rest in peace, sir.
Enjoyed this show. Should have had a longer run. Bruce is so good.
This is my all-time favourite from Bruce Forsyth, although it ran for 2 series, but I think this show could have a re--run on Challenge TV.
Bruce was just amazing! Without him the whole show could have crashed!
From the “sing the theme tune” era … Noisy floor on that set.
Another great show that didn't last long enough. It was a running gag about Bruce trying to get both the hat and the cane on the hatstand. I think it only ever happened once!
Quite right, Gordon. Loved this show as a 10-11 year old, and the theme tune, which is still in my head three decades later. What I didn’t spot til now was that the final round followed a similar path to Play Your Cards Right 1980-87 - bidding points for prizes. Thankfully the cryptic questions were easier to understand than 3-2-1!
0:50 Classic Brucie.
It’s rumoured that a young Eminem heard Bruce’s intro to this and picked up the mic
Paul Cleary was on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire in 2002, won £32,000 but got a question wrong when he had all his lifelines
Chris, do you have any episodes of Camp Orange?
More than that, we need Countdown in for countdowngoofs and The Variety Network,

Wait did she get their time?
