- On Day 3 of our Radiance of Seas Cruise we arrived in Costa Maya Mexico! In this video, we give you a little tour of the port area as we explore there on our own. There is a lot to see!
It's also Valentine's Day, so the ship is all decorated up for that, and we get to celebrate that as well!
It's also Mexican Night on the ship, so we show you what there is to eat both in the buffet and in the dining room (menus).

I have never had a Mexican night in the buffet on RCL, that looked great! Did you get a bunch of very pushy shopkeepers in Costa Maya? We had a hard time weaving through the shops to get to the cab stand because they kept stopping us. And lastly, we decided to try and find the shuffleboard the next time we cruise RCL! 👍
The Mexican food was really good! We were pretty impressed, especially for a buffet.
We did have a few pushy shopkeepers in Costa Maya! I guess I didn’t say anything, as they were nothing compared to what we dealt with in Cozumel. They were really awful there! I kept thinking they would have a lot more people stop to look if they weren’t so aggressive.

@@weinkeworldadventures Wow, we've been to Cozumel about 3 times (2016, 2021 and 2023) and never had as bad of an experience as Costa Maya! How strange. I wonder if it's gotten worse there since our last trip. I didn't feel safe in Costa Maya beyond the port area. We took a cab to the Krazy Lobster which was highly recommended. The food was terrible, child peddlers would keep coming up to us as we ate. And the food was awful. There were military and police driving around. It just didn't give off a very good vibe! We should have stayed near that beach area that you were showing. We were there in April of 2023 and yes, it was HOT! The port is also known as "Costa Maybe" because of the high winds there, ships are often unable to dock.
That’s really interesting to hear about your experiences in Costa Maya and Cozumel! This was our first time in Costa Maya,so we have never been outside the port. That’s good to know, and sounds a little scary. I had looked at a really cool private beach excursion there, but they were already full up. Hopefully next time! That’s good to know about the winds there too. It was a windy day, but thankfully we got in OK!
As for Cozumel, we have been there a few times now. This was our first time at the Royal Caribbean port, and the the shopkeepers there were very aggressive when we walked through early in the morning. Maybe it was the time of day? We were on our way to the taxi to Paradise Beach. I have to say the Carnival and Norwegian ports were not as bad. 🤷♀️
