It's so refreshing to see a former idol be herself and just be honest. Usually in the industry i feel that all the idols repeat what they say on camera all the time, do the same acts to have "cute moments" and everything you see just goes in a loop in kpop. a big part of why it's like that is the standards that people (fans) have put on the idols, which pressured them to be so perfect that it becomes almost "fake" and "macufactored". lots of idols feel, think and have more opinions on things then you think but just can't show it.

  • @munchiebear

I feel proud of Daisy for doing the best she could do, even if a career she worked hard for didn’t last long and I’m sure Merries are too. I do think it sucks that she didn’t get to fulfill the achievements she deserved if it wasn’t for MLD’s incompetence, but I’m glad she at least did the best she could do, even when she was restricted. I just feel like if she and the Momoland girls were managed by a better company that knew how to capitalise on her success(cue when Momoland got their chance of recognition in 2018 when BBOOM BBOOM came out and though it was only for less than a year, it was the best life changing moment for them, especially as a nugu girl group from a small company that turned out to be garbage), they would’ve been one of 3rd gen’s top girl groups alongside Twice and BP and each member also would’ve gotten more chances for individual opportunities(Jooe and Nancy did get their well deserved solo activities, but it wasn’t enough for the group to leave nugudom). Now I see why nugu idols end up giving up their dreams of success and vanish from the scene and it’s because the entertainment industry (including for musicians) tends to be over saturated with many different kinds of talent and when that’s the case, that’s when struggling stars lose passion and leave the scene. Regardless, they can still be proud of what they achieve at the end, even if it’s small. Props to the former idols who hold strong 💪🏼❤

Still, the debts they are given are way too inflated for the quality and number of lessons with instructors that trainees actually wind up getting. And it’s not like if someone paid to be in their living conditions (ie. sharing a small apartment with way more people than it’s meant to fit), their living expenses would be much lower than what trainees and idols are ultimately charged as well. And what keeps idols from making money while their agencies make a profit is that the agency takes their cut first. After that, they deduct all the other expenses and idols are given their cuts last. So even when an agency says it’s a 50/50 split, the math doesn’t turn out that way. Yeah, both are getting 50% of profits, but when you take that 50% counts for a lot. Idols also don’t get to choose how much an agency spends on a comeback too. It’s easy for an agency to work out the math so the agency makes a profit while the idols don’t, meaning they can keep the idols locked in their contracts while making very little so it’s harder for them to quit.

3:00 I'm like the most allergic-to-not-telling-the-blunt-truth person imaginable, but even I'm machiavellian enough for this level of obvious marketing strategy. Don't say something that's objectively true or false about a person so everybody can fool themselves into believing they're the thing you said. "If you know what's best for us so well why don't just write the answers for us" - because they won't always be there to tell you what the best simp-farming answer is, they're testing you to see if you can think of it on your feet (and to see if you're smart enough to figure out without being told that you're always supposed to be simp-farming.)
5:40 It's corporate assembly line pop music. Nobody is there because they cared about becoming and/or being recognized as a skilled musician. Even if you are a good singer and nail all the notes, the producer is still going to put your vocal into melodyne and move the pitches around a bunch to make sure it sounds pitch corrected, because everyone's so used to that software-choked sound that it doesn't sound professional to their ears unless it sounds like it started out bad and then got fixed with software.
9:15 I'm zero percent Korean and that's the exact same thought I had.
11:15 I mean, yeah. They don't care if you can come up with raps. They can hire people nobody ever sees or hears of to write that, just like they hire them to write everything else. They just care that you can spit it out with the appropriately mentally special sounding accent.

Daisy was the irreplaceable member of Momoland and as soon as they fired her the project was doomed to failure. She was, still is, and always will be the visual, unique voice, and best personality in the group. So many people don't understand the concept that the success of a girl group rests on male fans and what male fans want is different from what female fans want. How we follow is also different as most of us follow in secret and we follow based on which females are worthy of us following. One of the things that determines worthyness is authenticity (not being "perfect"). Being perfect is not authentic because we are all flawed beings. As for the rapping, she was not a great rapper by any means, but her unique rap voice stood out as the most memorable part of the songs.
The same principle is going on with Itzy right now. Without Lia most male fans have left the fandom. We saw Lia as the unique and most worthy of following and without her it will never be the same. Where an many metrics only a small % of Itzy fans were male, as stated above - we follow different.
