  • A pair of Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) 1982-1986 Metro Canada/UTDC Mark 1 ICTS trains were put on display during a special farewell event for the Scarborough RT at Scarborough Centre Station on September 23rd, 2023. The event gave the public one last opportunity to see the trains, both inside and out.
The Scarborough RT was slated to close much later in the year, on November 19th, but an unfortunate derailing incident just south of Ellesmere Station on July 24th put an end to the line’s over 38 years of service.
I personally saw that very last trainset depart from Scarborough Centre Station that day, completely unaware of what would take place only about 10 to 15 minutes later. After not seeing a single train enter or depart STC for about 20 minutes after that train had left the station, I figured something must have happened. Lo and behold, the derailment.
The RT stations apart from STC and Kennedy remained open until December, mostly to provide customers with information and allow for the reloading and purchase of Presto tickets and cards. They currently remain permanently closed and it is unknown whether any of the infrastructure will be converted or preserved.

00:10 - Both trains at the station
    00:43 - Train 1 departs
    01:49 - Train 2 departs

There is an alternate reality where the elevated streetcar operation occurred and ALRVs were used.
