Jihad means struggle against injustice. It doesn’t mean killing innocent people. When those alleged bombing occurred it was potentially due to three or more factions, either the Taliban, IS, or the an undercover US (false flag) operation. It’s hard to sort out who is responsible, but looking at last airport attacks and reprisals, the main actors were IS killing soldiers and US drone attack in kabul neighborhood that killed at least three and possibly seven innocent children who were outside to greet their father returning home. Those sad events should not occur. The Taliban would have disposed of the bombs without loss of innocents had they been given that information by US intel. Instead someone pushed a button sent a bomb and blew the hell out of the car, possibly a couple bad guys, and many innocent bystanders. That has been the reality of these people for years and years. I doubt the Taliban will use these tactics against their people now. but if we continue to oppose their legitimacy as a sovereign country, of course more radical elements may emerge and many more innocent people will be caught in the crossfire. We may feel their highly religious, and strict version of Islam is objectionable in a modern world, but that reaction has been against a western world heading towards dubious moral quandaries. At one time Islam accepted many ideas from the greeks and developed the foundation of math and science, so Islam hasn’t been static in its relations to the world over time, this period in my opinion is a time to sort out what western ideas are useful, what matches their convictions as Muslims, and can we learn from them again from a spiritual perspective. Religious beliefs were undoubtedly tossed aside during the enlightenment era, but maybe it’s time for the west to rethink a modern version of spirituality that doesn’t require worship of any particular god but requires worship in some way, perhaps beginning with acceptance of all people as different but equal in their right to believe what they will. And taking some respect tor family life as a center rather than just seeing marriage as a romantic interlude followed by divorce and fragmented society and children raised by strangers and other dispossessed peers.

Jihad means struggle against injustice. It doesn’t mean killing innocent people. When those alleged bombing occurred it was potentially due to three or more factions, either the Taliban, IS, or the an undercover US (false flag) operation. It’s hard to sort out who is responsible, but looking at last airport attacks and reprisals, the main actors were IS killing soldiers and US drone attack in kabul neighborhood that killed at least three and possibly seven innocent children who were outside to greet their father returning home. Those sad events should not occur. The Taliban would have disposed of the bombs without loss of innocents had they been given that information by US intel. Instead someone pushed a button sent a bomb and blew the hell out of the car, possibly a couple bad guys, and many innocent bystanders. That has been the reality of these people for years and years. I doubt the Taliban will use these tactics against their people now. but if we continue to oppose their legitimacy as a sovereign country, of course more radical elements may emerge and many more innocent people will be caught in the crossfire. We may feel their highly religious, and strict version of Islam is objectionable in a modern world, but that reaction has been against a western world heading towards dubious moral quandaries. At one time Islam accepted many ideas from the greeks and developed the foundation of math and science, so Islam hasn’t been static in its relations to the world over time, this period in my opinion is a time to sort out what western ideas are useful, what matches their convictions as Muslims, and can we learn from them again from a spiritual perspective. Religious beliefs were undoubtedly tossed aside during the enlightenment era, but maybe it’s time for the west to rethink a modern version of spirituality that doesn’t require worship of any particular god but requires worship in some way, perhaps beginning with acceptance of all people as different but equal in their right to believe what they will. And taking some respect tor family life as a center rather than just seeing marriage as a romantic interlude followed by divorce and fragmented society and children raised by strangers and other dispossessed peers.
