Everything is not fine
Yes it is, shut up, they'll hear you...
This album didn't click for a lot of people (including me) on the first listen but after subsequent listens I am absolutely love with the diversity and writing of this album. ALSO CAN WE TALK ABOUT SPENCERS VOCALS ON THIS ALBUM???
I love everyone in the band but omg Spencer is MVP by a large mile on this one, dude is so creative too
wax wings showed that spencer vocals are on a whole different level than everyone else in heavier music
It clicked instantly for me tbh, and im really on the edge of saying it's my favourite album (which is hard because every single album has a special "something" that makes them unique)
Spencer is one of the greatest vocalists I've ever heard. That being said, I absolutely cannot stand his voice 😂
@@Ottoni174 naw, that would be satellites
6:44 i sobbed SO HARD when i heard this. it's like the high note of ragnarok, the instrumentals of lune and the solo of luck as a constant all came together to make the greatest climax to a song ever
I love that I don’t have to click the timestamp to know which part of which song you’re talking about

lol i also cried on wax wings its just so gorgeous, like the song was so pretty i couldnt help but cry out of happiness
Definitely the most emotional song and Prolly my favorite off this album
i cant figure out how to put this properly, but man that track makes me feel that half the point of being alive is to witness music.
@@lowaimnobrainAs a musician, it certainly is where I get most of my happiness from. It makes you feel things like no other thing can.

Yo man I don’t think I’ve ever commented on your vids before, but I just wanted to say I felt connected with you when you cried to Wax Wings because the same thing happened to me and man it just catches you off guard some how. Heavy hearts feel alike, much love brother.
Thank you, I really appreciate you sharing that. That songs sent me haha, much love to you
Silhouette was the song that made me emotional during the album. Just was walking and enjoying the album, dealing with a lot of thoughts in my head. But as soon as the song kicked in, I started having goosebumps and was really close to tearing up in public. Not a die-hard fan of Periphery, for a long time was struggling to click with their sound. But man, this album is absolutely gorgeous!
Dying Star got me
it's crazy isnt it.
I just put wax wings on for the first time, i was really pumped 5 mins in, by 6 mins something inside has snapped and my eyes are getting starting to go.
Man i put off listening to this album, i was a little worried that i wouldnt like it or they couldnt top some of my previous favs like stranger things, reptile, lune etc..
I could just listen to Dracul Gras and Thanks Nobuo back to back for hours, this whole album is a 10/10 for me, so much variety and creativity, Periphery just doing Periphery things at their best and I love it
I literally made a personal playlist with just those two and listened for, quite literally, a whole day. 10 whole hours. This is a very big feel lol
F A H - G U T
Something about their melodic choices evokes a huge feeling of nostalgia for me. I had similar emotional response in a few spots of this album. Especially Thanks Nobuo, because of all the Final Fantasy motifs
Nobuo…and a bit of Hamauzu too with the piano and jazz interludes
I went on a walk to listen to the last 2 songs, and for the last 4 minutes of the last track I literally had to close my eyes while walking to feel that music. It was emotional and magical.

Honestly this might be my favorite album from them. The diversity of tracks, seeing the development of Spencer's vocals, and overall pog. Wax wings prolly top tracks of all time.
Wax wings made me cry too. Love this band and love this album
I thought P4 was their magnum opus, but I think this tops it. You can really hear the amount of time it took to put this album together, every song is so unique and diverse. I can’t wait to listen to this for years to come
Bogdan, Periphery have been making documentaries since Juggernaut about how they write, should really check them out!
Hi, just wanted to say that I second, third, and fourth this suggestion
Hearing Silhouette after Everything Is Fine was absolutely hilarious 🤣
dude i legit teared up in the same part of Wax Wings, its just perfect
I can’t say I have a favorite Periphery album. I was introduced to them with P3 but I also love Alpha, Omega, and P4. Very hard to choose.
P2 will forever be the album that got me interested in pushing my boundaries on guitar. I love P2
this is my favorite album right after P2, and its very close because the production quality really drives the sound home on this album
Each and every song on this album grows on you with every listen. So many layers, so many feelings. Gorgeous.
Love your reactions dude. The emotions hit me in these songs too, which is why i love this band so much. Not many other bands can make me be on the verge of tears and give me stank face minutes later
Love the journey the album takes you on. Each song has its own vibe so you can tell apart from another song on the album. It's an amazing album!!
I was working out the first time I listened to this album, and Wax Wings literally made me stop what I was doing. Lol.
P3 is my favorite. Can listen to that on repeat and not get tired of it at all
for me my favorites are alpha and omega, back when it released i was working like 1h away from home and i would listen to it every single day going to work
Wax wings is my favorite also. It made me tear up also. Because of how beautiful the vocals are. How high he goes toward the end of the song, it gave me goosebumps
The only way to describe "Wax Wings" is sexy. It just sounds so good
This is definitely their best album but I've definitely got recency bias. I think Reptile is their best song and PIII has the way the news goes which is another personal favourite but I love this album, every song slaps. I'd say as a whole it's their strongest release. I love Misha's evolution with orchestra elements. Forever my favourite band. Periphery and Erra going back and forth with releasing peak metal
Putting my recency bias aside I would say objectively this is their best album with P4 right on its heels. I'm really glad I only listened to only one of the singles as to not spoil as much of the full experience. Thanks Nobuo might be my favorite album closer and that's going up against Lune and Satellites
@@julianluna8688 the best closer for me is Omega, but periphery can't release a bad album, its just not possible
in the last year, i've gone from 'heartbeat haunts me' to 'paid in full, tear the hole, tear the hole inside your soul' to 'the machines are turning me' to 'drifting towards the center of serenity' as lines that have been stuck in my head and grown on me. first was in a bad bad place, second was when it felt like it wasn't over after it was over, third is when i was finally able to cry (in the shower, on walks, could cry anywhere to wax wings) and accept things have changed, and finally is recently where things are so beyond it now that i am moving to a better place entirely ! ^^
it's a battle between P2 and P4 for my favourite Periphery Album, currently this one is lower on my list but i think with more listens it will settle into a potentially higher position, that said i still think this is a great album, Wax Wings especially. Periphery doing more emotional songs always takes the cake for me, Satellites being a great example of that
100% agree with you
Personally, i think PV takes top spot, just marginally beating out PIV
PV is something special. I love the entirety of their discography but this one is standing tall above the rest just in terms of pure creativity and pushing boundaries. PIV came at a rough time in my life so that one will always have a special place in my heart, as will PIII to a lesser extent. Juggernaut though, my god, that was my holy grail on vinyl and I cried when I got it to complete the set. PII is the first album of theirs I listened to so again, special place, and PI is just banger after banger but the production lets it down (and let’s not forget Clear, an exceptional EP). In conclusion: Djent.
I love seeing someone have the same emotional reactions to these songs as I did. Thank you man
14:47 funny you say that. if you dont know, they put out a documentary on creating the album. its not a deep dive into how they created it but its definitely a fun watch
I would argue Everything is Fine! Is this albums blood eagle.
Also, Dracul Gras is easily my favorite song in the album, even without the words and lyrics, the music paints a beautiful story and I love it. Such a well written song.
i think everything is fine is this album’s chvrch bvrner
Dracul Gras is such an interesting song, one of my favs off the album
The track length, the intro, the general vibe, all the different sections coupled with that intimidating-ass album cover make this song such a cool experience every time haha
The final track Thanks Nobuo is an Ode and appreciation for the composer of majority of the final fantasy series main line game's music (Nobuo Uematsu) there are a lot of final fantasy influenced melodies sounds and rhythms.
P:II is nostalgic for me when I started listening to metal here and there. Recently, listening to their stuff after these singles, P:III is heavier and more punchy. Great tracks.
Hail Stan, absolute masterpiece (also the ending to the album is comedy gold) Djent is Not A Genre comes second tho
I'm glad I wasn't the only one shedding tears during wax wings
Periphery is one of my favorite bands of all time. Picking just one favorite album is insanely difficult. I would have to say that P2 is their BEST album but P4 is probably my FAVORITE album of theirs. Much love Bogdan ❤
tossup between P3 and P4 for my favorite Periphery album. I feel like they're equal in my mind.
this album is a wild ride. perfectly shows the diversity they're capable of, and they definitely experimented some more on tracks like Atropos, Silhouette, and Dying Star. Everything Is Fine is absolutely pummeling, gives me Car Bomb vibes. outro could've cut down on the ambience at the end just a little bit (4 out of 11 minutes was a bit much) but I don't have any problems really.
I also cried to Wax Wings by the way, haha. fucking beautiful track that is.
I’m still getting into all of Periphery’s discography but so far the album I love the most songs from is P2!!
I’m already loving PV I’m sure it’ll only get better with subsequent listens
Wax Wings was my favorite song on my first listen (still ies, probably), but Dracul Gras is the one that grew on me the most. The first time I listened to it I kinda wrote it off as some standard, albeit awesome, fantasy metal, but after 5 or 6 listens I was finally able to appreciate how ludicrously nuanced and creative and precise it is. It's just breathtaking, every element fits together flawlessly.
Favourite Periphery album is definitely still P:II. 2nd is P:IV, and then Juggernaut. This one is still growing on me, but out the gate it's not in my top 3 for them tbh.
Of this album though, Wax Wings is by far my favourite track. It's exactly what I wanted from from P:V since the singles were all so heavy. Such a beautiful song.
I literally agree with every word you said lmao
P:II master race
I totally agree. For me P2 is 1st place. P1 and P4 tied for 2nd place. Then maybe this one P5
@@seanpowers1906 mine is P:II, Jug A&O, they’re the true masterpieces then P:V, P:IV, P:I, P:III least fav
@KeepItSecret Wow. You really don't like this one huh?
periphery is the one prog band that i never get sick of, no matter how long the songs are, they’re such a beautiful, dynamic and interesting band, where each member brings a key piece to each album. this album, spencer is the highlight for me, his soaring cleans and screams add so much and you can really tell the bigger influence he had, which is love. it may be recency bias but for me this is periphery’s best album, followed by p4 and p3, but p2 and p1 are still untouchable masterpieces in my eyes. such a perfect band.
Everything is Fine is the one I keep going back to. So good.
Bogdan really became thanos for the thumbnail
thanos thumbnail
Remind me more of Patrick from SpongeBob lmao.
Thrice released their album The Artist in the Ambulance twenty years ago which has song a about Icarus (The Melting Point of Wax), a song called Silhouette (which is unique sounding compared to the rest of the album) and when you listen to Dying Star the comparison get's even bigger. I'm not sure if this is coincidental, but I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't.
Driving on a back road through the trees in North Carolina with the sunsetting windows down listening to thanks nobuo is an experience I wish everyone could have
I can't choose between P2 or P3.. both were just pure gold.
Can't see anything really topping this album this year, crazy good
So hard to pick a favorite Periphery album, been listening since P1.
PV is so fresh to me, but I can see it easily becoming my favorite with more listens. Atropos and Wildfire are two of the best Periphery tracks out there. Otherwise.... PII and Juggernaut are tied for my favorites.
If you wanna know the process behind this - the official documentary is on their channel, they always release one with their album release.
yo Wax Wings got me the same way lol glad to see someone else got the same emotional feelings from it, this album is just a masterpiece
Every is fine about this album! I actually really liked silhouette but that’s because I love the 80s’s so biased but ya wax wings is euphoric. PII was the album that got me into these guys
Wax Wings makes me feel emotions that I didn’t know existed. And I’m bawling my eyes out.
Wax Wings.
Holy shit.
This was hands down album of the year.
The whole album is such a brutal assault on all your senses. All emotions take control and your body and mind is literally dragged along for the ride.
Everything Is Fine best track from the album
This album is honestly a 9.9/10 for me, as I have one slight with with the guitar tone lmao. Top 2 album of my life so far.
Machines are turning MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!
Wax Wings did the exact same thing to me, insane
My favourite album used to be good old hail stan but then they dropped P5 and ngl I’ve had it on loop.
Wax Wings is just....no words
P2 for me. Got a LOT of mileage out of that one, still go back to it frequently.
wax wings is the most emotional shit i've heard in a long time, i absolutely hated silhoutte (but i respect it)
and everything is not fine
Dracul Gras at 7:55 is my favorite moment in periphery history
Periphery II holds some serious nostalgia for me. Warmed up for so many high school wrestling matches to that album.
True story: I did a meet and greet with Periphery on the first date of their tour in 2013. Afterwards, Spencer came out from the bar and just starting talking to my friend and I for 5 minutes without any fans noticing he was there. He told us all about the upcoming "Clear" EP (literally broke the news to us) and how each member wrote their own song. Ive met a lot of bands, but this moment stood out.
Self-Titled, almost nothing beats when i first heard Icarus Lives on release. But my favorite song is Sentient Glow from HAIL STAN :P
Same, sentient glow rips. Wax wings is now a close second for me.
My stance is that every song on every album doesn't have to end up being one to listen to over and over again. A few of these songs hit more like experiences (pretentious, jesus christ) for me and the rest were nice one listens. I enjoyed it all, but it's more abstract and harder to listen to as a song. It's hard to put into words. Enjoyed the overall album, will probably only return to a few of them and that's okay. Could have left with none.
Periphery doesn’t have key changes. They have genre changes.
Heh, I think my face, feelings and everything was just alike when I was listening to this album, my first Periphery album in my life. I especially l like that glimpse at 8:23 :-)
I was just torn by the Wildlife chorus and the whole Atropos song. I think they planned these bombastic changes and other stuff, very, very carefully and intentionally! :-)
And I was laughing when in some reviews I read that e.g Silhouette shouldn't be there - but it is the best that we can get after Everything's fine. So Periphery does pop better than any regular pop star.
Idk if anyone else gets this but some parts of Wax Wings reminds me of Floya
AOTY, Hands down. The progressive nature of this album is just one of a kind. I just can't even right now. This album shook me.
@@sarcasm4371 Huh? Care to elaborate?
Kind of wild how hard? I typically lean lately but P makes me a softy. Absolutely love wax wings and dying star.
Periphery 5 no doubt is my fav, tho 2,3 and jug are fire.
I love them all but I think PII is the best album for me overall
I like them all but whenever I'm introducing someone to Periphery I show them Select Difficulty. Short, sweet, heavy and chill
P2 is my favorite. P1 and P4 tied for 2nd place. And then P5 for me so far. This album didn't have as much djent as I was expecting. And I believe that this album had the least amount of screaming since Juggernaut Alpha
Didn't know Djentsync and Djentstreet Bois were back when Silhouette started playing. 😁
Freakin' love this album. As for my fave album. Really torn between P3 and 4. Loved P3 because of Marigold and Lune being in that and P4 has a good amount of variety I love.
Fav tracks off the first listen?
Nothing can beat P3 or juggernaut but this is one hell of a good album . Really love the vibes & Spencer constantly progressing
Wax Wings fucked me up when I first heard it.
Juggernaut will always be their magnum opus to me. It’s more restrained, but it showcases the songwriting and how great they are at pacing records. This album is right there behind it, what a triumph!
And yes, I too welled up listening to the end of Wax Wings for the first time!
Wax Wings was something else.
Bro your skin is majestic
You cut Wax Wings so much on good parts, bummer lol. That "I said so long (so long) to SANITY" is so good.
Dying Star is for me the best non-single. I can't connect on "Wax Wings" with that chorus, but it has sick riff.
The last two minutes of Dying Star are going to make one helluva sing-along if they play it live.
Favorite album is their self titled from 2010
I think P2 will always be my fav but I love them all
P3 is my favorite album by them. Sure, it's the most "accessible", but I love the hell out of it. This album.. idk. On first couple listens, I was disappointed. It starts off really strong up until Silhouette (what a weird song, I don't like it lol) when the quality kinda dives. Dying Star and Dracul Gras are good, but not at the same quality as the first 4 tracks. Thanks Nobuo low key pissed me off because of how big a fan Misha is of FF7, and yet the only melodic reference to that game is a brief vocal hook. I was also hoping for a motif on this record like they did in P2, P3, and Juggernaut, but alas like P4, no motif to be had.
I will however say that Atropos has everything I want in a Periphery song. It's light and airy like something off P3, it's very dynamic, and it bring in the heavy. Reptile and Stranger Things do the same for me.
so when are we getting to hear you cover one of these
MAKE TOTAL DESTROY is my favorite periphery song
@KeepItSecret haha exactly. Seeing that song live was amazing
i always wonder how you learn songs like this for a live set....
I personally think this is their best album, perfect dynamics, best vocals, drum performance is amazing, and well we don’t really need to talk about guitars lol
My favourite drum tones were PIII for a long time, but this album might have dethroned it.
I think on a creative level this is far beyond anything theyve done before, the melodies, the arrangements and everything else is just tremendous, p4 was my favorite but this is just different
How do you even pick a favorite?
Spencer's kind of the Chester of metalcore in my opinion. Insane range, sustainability and variety.
P1 is their best album by a mile. Then p3 > p2 > juggmega > p5 >p4 >juggalpha> clear > icarus
P3, no wait P2..hm, all of them? I can't choose the best
This is behind P4, P3 and Juggernaut for me. The peaks are VERY high here, but the endless chugging, as much of a requirement it may be for the band, seemed to be the main focus, but the song writing as whole was never tight enough for me. You get so many crazy technical and heavy moments, but they didn't translate into anything memorable as often as they did in P4. The album grew on me for sure. Still great.
Favourite Peripehry album... hmm... I gues I go with this one. I love all the albums, but here they did EVERYTHING.
And I never thought that this could happen, but my favourite track from the album is Silhouette... a fucking pop song of all things. 😁
