- How to make the best Haitian salad russe.

Recipe:
1 beet root - 1 bètrav
1 potato - 1 pomedetè
2 small carrots - 2 ti kawòt
1 egg - 1 ze
Boil everything together Bouyi tout bagay ansanm
Take out the egg after 7mn - retire ze a aprè 7mn
You should be able to see when the carrots, potato, and the beetroot are well done by sticking a fork into them- Tcheke kawòt, pomdetè, ak bètrav la ak yon fouchèt pouw ka wè si yo kwit
Cut everything in cubes - koupe tout bagay an ti kare
Add some butter to a sauce pan - ajoute yon ti bè nan yon ti chodyè
Add the onions and bell peppers - ajoute zonyon ak Piman dous
1/4 of evaporated milk - yon ka lèt bwat
Add salt and let it reduce on low heat - ajoute sèl epi kite li redwi sou yon ti dife.
1 small kernel corn and sweet peas ( I used half of each) - yon petit mayi ak petit pwa ( Mwen itilize demi bwat nan chak)
2 laughing cow cheese - 2 fwomaj la vache qui rit
Add mayo - ajoute mayonèz
Add the reduced sauce - ajoute sòs ki Finn redwi a.

Have never heard them put la vache qui rit to salad russe. Is that your american version? It’s a sample salad. You complicated so much
They do put it cheese on it. She did not complicate it at all. The egg though is a bit too much. Never heard of it.
@@rosemartine actually they don’t. The original recipe is like a salad. You don’t have to cook the onions and peppers and you just add vinegar, lime juice and mayo to taste with salt and pepper . The taste is totally different. I made it with the cheese and without. Hands down the, the authentic version is without cheese
Food is art and if you follow Dorothy she is a good cook, what works for you might not work for her and we have to learn to accept each other's chouces of ingredients.
@@cathyaphilantrope355 Don't argue with them Sis! These new cooks do not understand there are standards to these classic recipes. If one wants to add their own twist to the recipe it can no longer be called Salad Russe.
Salad Russe is a simple salad of beets, potatoes, carrots, sweet peas, onion, mayo and boiled egg.
