Instead carry both, in worst situation use the spray/taser and run away, but before that know the surroundings(place you are residing)

Informative video bro but I believe you chose wrong girl b'cos she is quite experienced in International traveling and she didn't face any difficulty in settling in Canada b'cos of her contacts. The struggle to separate from family and accommodating and adjusting in a different country for a normal girl who is not used to foreign trips will give a real story of her problem and struggle.
