No, Safiye sultan was succeded by Handan in 1603,who banished her and became regent, she died in 1605,Haçi ağa became harem manager, in 1617 Ahmed died and Mustafa was enthroned, thus Halime became Valide Sultan, in 1618 Mustafa was dethroned, Osman ascended without Valide Sultan, in 1622 he was deposed and killed by Halime's party, so again she became Valide Sultan, in 1623 Halime peacefully retired and Kösem was called to become Valide for her Son Murad

Everyone blame Mehmed III for the death of his brothers when the most person to blame fir the number scaring of strangled sehzades were Murad III who acted irresponsible( this guy is a true mystery of the genetic I mean he had Selim II as father who was a decent ruler ( and decent man which lacked Murad) choose well his statemember and know how to repars a lot of mistakes that make his father , Nurbanu a true genious we all see her when she was an incredible Valide, Esmehan a sister very smart and who had the same personnality as her grandmother Hurrem, and there is this GUY. A man who can't think without the help of his mother, who is only good to make childs when it is very irresponsible to do this as it was a "duty" for a Sultan to kill his brothers. Was the true Murad kidnapped when he came to the world and a new boy was giving to Nurbanu ? It woud be the only explanation I find XD).
It seems that Mehmed III had remorse to killed his brothers a legend says he tore his beard so broken he was. But there is concrete evidence he spared Canfeda , he banished her ( when the punishment for this was death) when she was trying to protect one of his brothers and later gave her back a sum of money so she could continue her charitable activities.
P.S: I am not making an apology to Mehmed III he was a terrible ruler and father don't make me wrong.

      @drfhgs428 Před rokem +6

Yes it's Murad III's fault, not Mehmed's at all. Even though I still can't decide who was more terrible(Murad or Mehmed)
Sources mentions that Murad III had from 100 to 130 children ,and at least 500 concubines in his harem.
Most of the children died as stillborns .
Until his death, only 48 remained alive.
19 sons were executed, and 17 daughters died from plague in Old Palace in 1598.
It is also mentioned that 7 pregnant concubines were also executed along the 19 sons.
Yes Canfeda tried to save Sehzade Mustafa,it is possiblle because his mother had died and Canfeda took care of him.
Hahaha probably Murad was kidnaped as baby.
About the genetics mystery it's not strange when Bayezid was his uncle, lol.
After Murad III, the other most irresponsible was Ahmed III(son of Mehmed IV and Gulnus Sultan)he had more than 20 concubines and at least 60 children. He didn't even have favourite.
His brother Mustafa II had-Afife Kadin. Even his uncle Suleiman II who didn't had children, had a favourite- Suglun Kadin.

Why they didn't show Sultan Mehmed?
Very little scene showen of Mahmud. He was like Sehzade Mustafa irl. He was popular and favoured by Janissaries. He could be very powerful sultan and Halime could be very powerful Valide Sultan(she was powerful during Mustafa I's reign, as she was co regent),but during Mahmud she could be more powerful. They had done very injust to Halime and Mahmud.
Halime had done a lot of mistakes too, like sending a letter to a seer and asking when the sultan will die,and when will her son ascended the throne.
They tortured them and their servants to confess their sins. That was so cruel.
Also another sehzade- Ahmed's brother Sehzade Selim (eldest son of Handan Sultan) previously had also spoke against the sultan and valide sultan and he was favoured by janissaries too.
The venetian ambassador Girolamo Cappello had noted that there were rumors that he was poisoned by the order of the sultan and the queen mother.
He was 12 when he had died.

Mostly because the story/series is about Kosem and her story starts with Ahmed. And seeing the deaths of so many dead princes is what shaped him. How or why they became dead isn't particularly relevant, only the outcome is.

I don't know but I am getting offended by people saying them khalifa....like yes in the beginning of ottoman era, they were really fighters and worriers,, fighting to create an Islamic empire but the sultans during the sultanate of women??? Especially sultan Suleiman the magnificent known for his justice like really? Can they be considered khalifas? Playing in the hands of their women,, not being able to maintain justice in his own harem,, manipulated by concubines of European lineage to kill their own sons and brothers,, like Mughal Emperors were considering them their khalifas where Sultan Suleiman was brainlessly killing his own subjects and being played by his christian Orthodox slave hurrem,, eventually killing his innocent son and destructing the empire by himself,,, does they really doesn't know that they are played by their European concubines who just want power for them and their children,,,, these sultans and Suleiman were being punished in their grave for the innocent lives they took especially shehzade Mustafa???
