The best time to visit the Painted Hills is just after a rain shower. Makes the different colors really pop. Growing up, we'd enter the back door at the Cant Ranch, which led into the kitchen. My great-grandmother was always baking something in her wood burning stove. The smell always made my mouth water. My grandmother, Lillian Cant, married Lawrence Mascall, whose ranch was just on the other side of Picture Gorge. These are my most treasured minorities in life.
    Thank you for your video.

We went to The Painted Hills Unit a year or so ago. Camped at Ochoco Divide Campground, which wasn’t too far away. So pretty!
