This is a song you automatically crank the car radio to when you hear it.
I definitely agree with you all the way on this one!👋😎👍
Hi Girls, I was in the backup band for Styx in the 70s when I was a wild teenager playing Keyboards to about 5000 people in memorial hall in Wisconsin
Styx is a great rabbit hole to dive down! I think 4 guys from Chicago and 1 guy from Alabama! Where to begin! “Lady”, “Best of Times”, “Babe”, “The Grand Illusion”, “Crystal Ball”, “Long Nights (Blue Collar Man)”, “Show Me The Way”, “Rockin’ The Paradise”, “Too Much Time On My Hands”, “Lorelei”, “Renegade”, “Fooling Yourself (The Angry Young Man)” just to name a few!! Love what you ladies do and keep rockin!! 🤟🤟🤟
Thank you so much Josh!
I was 11 when this song came out. So for 43 years I too have thought I heard whale sounds. Thanks girls for taking me back to when I first heard and immediately fell in love with this song.
Styx is a great band. Check out Blue collar man, Too much time on my hands, Renegade, Miss America, Mr. roboto, Best of times, Babe, Lady, Rock'n the Paradise and more. A rabbit hole.
I have heard this song thousands of times and never heard an orca in it...but now I am going to hear that every time.
Yup : )
Great song. It reminds me of Junior high school dances. I remember, we started out dancing slow and then sooner or later everyone began to rock out. Great memories. Keep up the good work and Rock on ladies rock on🤘🏻👍🏻🔥🎵😀
STYX "SUITE MADAME BLUE" & "LADY"..BOTH TRUE CLASSICS.
Please check out Renegade with Tommy Shaw singing. Both guitarists and the keyboardist take the lead singing on different songs. I grew up with Styx! Great band, lots of variety.
That songs the bomb!
Styx Come sail away is a song I will always remeber thanks Dana's Faith.
Their BEST song EVER....👍👍👍👍
Being in my early fifties, I recall this song when it came out in the mid Seventies. I listen to it and it takes me right back to that period with my friends and like it says, the dreams we had. Some of them have passed. Some have struggled and some have made good for themselves. Those lyrics REALLY hit home
Thank you for sharing your story with us Rene! It makes this song that much special!
Awesome, more old school gold.
I'm so glad you guy's reacted to the FULL version and not the silly "edited" one that's out there that cuts out the entire middle spacey part.
Yeah that's always the problem when people request songs for those unfamiliar with the song. They often pick the shortened version, which in many cases destroys the whole vibe of the song.
@@centuryrox I've watched a few CSA reaction vids and it breaks my heart to see them watching the edited version I cringe.
@@Chrisdrumz Yes you and I both cringe! So sad!
Welcome aboard, youngsters! Styx, is another great band from the 70's and 80's, my teenage years. Styx, has many great songs from some great albums. Styx, were blessed with two great lead singers.
No there was only ONE! And that was Dennis DeYoung! The other one doesn’t count! The band will never be the same without their original frontman!
You girls are reacting to my teenage years of Styx. Thank you!
Love your reactions, you two!
And Mia, I love your transformation in just about a year and a half. You went from:
"I'm really shy in front of the camera"
To
Singing freely in front of the camera.
Lol! Rock on! Love ya, girls!
LOL! Thank you so much!
@@danasfaith5738 You're very welcome!
This is progressive rock and it was huge in the late 70's. A lot of bands were doing this besides Styx, like Kansas, APP, Journey, ELO, ELP and others that don't immediately spring to mind. The sound of my youth.
Absolutely love Styx!!!! Such a rabbit hole of greatness!!!!! And this song!!! Mmmhmmm... 🤗❤✌🏼
This was my 1983 graduation song suggested by me and accepted by my class. Forever a special memory.
You girls are so cute. Love watching your reactions.
Thank you!
If you can find the pilot for the TV show Freaks and Geeks, this song is used at the end of the episode and it is a perfect scene…..
I saw Styx at the Iowa State Fair in August. They still got it! Tommy Shaw is in his early 70's and still sounds like he did, in his 20's. Phenomenal group. Please do more Styx! You won't regret
He's 67
I mean 68
This is one of my favorite Styx songs. It goes through many changes and is so well constructed! I enjoyed your reaction (as I do all your reactions, but in particular, this one)! This song was a great choice for your introduction to Styx.
Thank you Daniel!
You girls are on a roll. "Come Sail Away" and "Carry On My Wayward Son" back to back. Both are great selections.
Juliet, I'm sure the members of Styx would be very flattered that this song moved you so much. Some other great Styx songs include:
"Lady" (their first hit)
"Lorelei"
"Rocking The Paradise"
"Crystal Ball"
"Suite Madame Blue"
"Fooling Yourself"
"Blue Collar Man"
"Renegade" & others
Thank you so much Daniel! :)
@@danasfaith5738 You're very welcome girls. Keep those classic rock songs coming.
You're both becoming such beautiful young girls right before our very eyes.
YEE GIRLS 😍 absolutely great job... Okay sweet little future madam president. Play that piano LoL. Queen Joliet you got me emotional watching you get emotional. Great singing by the way
Thank you John!
I suggest “Crystal Ball” for your next Styx reaction. Mia, maybe you can learn the piano 🎹 part on this. Lovely whale image. And as always I love your singing along! Thanks a lot, sisters!
Thank you Michael!
This song was my Senior class graduation song in 1979
More Styx! You'll love it.
It's nice seeing people so young appreciating one of the 'old' classics.
Can garuntee.that you girls will absolutely love, love, love the song, "Babe", by Styx. ✌️❤️🌹
Man I’ve seen this guy’s so many times! They where a great Chicago band! They where huge in the 70s early 80s! The band is not the same anymore since they lost their original drummer and one of their original guitarist, and then they got rid of their main frontman! Dennis DeYoung! After that shenanigan the band never regained their popularity again! Great reaction young ladies!👌😎👍♥️🙏
Saludos desde Argentina chicas. Son divinas.
Muchas gracias Matias! :)
PS. If you like this song, you must check out Eric Cartman’s, from South Park, cover. It is awesome.
LOL... doesn't he have some OCD thing were has ta keep singing it over and over if somebody starts it? Hilarious!
You two have a rare opportunity, first time hearing these bands. I often wish I'd never heard Rush so I could hear them for the first time {again} and be awed again like with Styx, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath and so many others. You both have a lot more great music to get to. Rock On!
Thank you Timithie! Mia and I agree, we are very lucky to be able to hear these incredible songs for the first time and share our first-time reactions with you!
Yes, I was blown away the first time I heard the song. It is indeed special. Maybe the only other songs from that era I would place in such rarified company might be Magic Man by Heart ❤️ and Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody. Styx Grand Illusion was an awesome concept album. So glad to see someone truly get this song and enjoy it so much. The song Lady by Styx has a beautiful piano as well so I think you would like that one also. Space Intro + Fly Like An Eagle by Steve Miller has some pretty synthesizer sounds like this too.
Mia and I agree with you Wayne! This song is indeed special! :)
Hi Wayne. I agree with you 100 % on all the songs you mentioned. What a grand era we lived in.
If I remembered how I felt when I first heard this; I’d be glad to tell you; but that was a lifetime ago-and a half.
Mia, the piano you loved so much is courtesy of Dennis DeYoung! If you enjoyed that you should check out "Babe" and "Lady"! They also have about a zillion other tracks to check out!!!
Another song by Styx to check out is "Suite Madam Blue". It's very similar to this song, starting out slow then kicking into high gear. For pure hard rock from Styx, try "Miss America".
I have seen Styx LIVE 9 times and will keep going back as long as they tour (which has been for decades). They are even better LIVE. So much talent and energy for a bunch of old guys. This song never gets old. You should see the audience sing along LIVE. Check out some of their more recent stage performances. There is so much to explore.
9 times?! Wow! Styx must be awesome live! :)
You young ladies are joy to watch! Very insightful comment about the dolphins. The smiles on your faces demonstrated the joy you can feel from a well-written song!
That takes me back. Styx was my first favorite band when I was a kid. I made the same faces you did.
Dope 🎵🎵
Great reaction! Styx is an amazing band. The song is so catchy, to see the two of you singing along is evidence of how addictive the chorus is! Loved it!
Great vocals great keyboard overall great 🎵 🎶 🎵
When you realize you're not leaving with angels but extraterrestrials....
That's Dennis DeYoung on the synthesizer and piano. Also singing lead. James Young and Tommy Shaw share guitar solos.
a loss for words is tribute to the power of music and song!
Try Tommy Shaw "Blue Collar Man"(sing for the day). He sings with CYO and it is soooo good! The kids are freaking amazing!!!
Styx deserve to be in the Hall of fame
They're not?
My favorite band of all time
Another great reaction ladies!!🌹🌹YEEEE!!
YEE!
I feel your sadness and your joy great great song! 🙏🏽✌🏽❤️
They played this song at my senior prom
"This is our first time reacting to.." Greatest 7 words ever spoken. Dana's Faith Karaoke bomb! Wanted ta say 'Dope' but it's already been taken.
LOL! Thank you for always making us laugh Shawn!
Muy buena cancion chicas me emocione abrazo desde Buenos Aires
Great reaction girls. My favorite group ever. The old Styx
Really a great song. First time I heard it it just caught my attention. I may be crazy (I've heard that before) but a REALLY good band called Styx played at my high school in Dallas in 1970 or 1971, the year before the group put out their first album. As a lot of people at my high school had a LOT of money, this could have been true but I am trying to check it out.
Yes! I was in the navy when this came out so it was an anthem!
Thx! You guys played the right one! Thx!
Yeah this song was pretty cool when it first hit the radio. Of course they played it to death, but now years later I can still hear it and smile.
The true power of Styx! LOL!
You guys just transported me back to a junior high school dance in 1982. Thank you. Keep up the good work and rock on.🤘🏻🔥🎶
Styx, especially Dennis DeYoung are incredible!
Hey Mia & Juliet,
I am old enough to be your grandfather but I love music reaction videos and I think you guys are FANTASTIC!!!
If I may, I have a list of other songs you may like to do that I have not seen many other channels do. I also suggest doing the studio versions of these, not live versions.
Dragon Attack - Queen
Like a Hurricane - Neil Young
Jungleland - Bruce Springsteen
Jane - Jefferson Starship
Save Your Love - Jefferson Starship
Ten Years Gone - Led Zeppelin
Since I've Been Loving You - Led Zeppelin
Green Grass and High Tides - The Outlaws
Too Rollin' Stoned - Robin Trower
Roundabout - Yes
And You and I - Yes
Siberian Khatru - Yes
Just a few
Thanks!!!!!
Thank you so much Matthew! Thank you as well for requesting the specific version of the songs, lol! They all look like great suggestions! I'll give your list to our dad! :)
writting down,
Excellent! Loved it. :)
I saw Styx in Concert this last summer, that was my 44th time seeing them live. These guys Rock in Concert !
44th Time?! Wow! To go that many times, they must be INCREDIBLE on stage!
Styx is a great band to see in Concert. They still tour , you should go see them. I live in Oklahoma and they Come every year.
I've heard this song hundreds of times, and it's still special.. Love the soulful beginning, mixing with the synth later on, and then the dynamic chorus.. lots of great guitar, synth, drumming action throughout... yes, a very special song indeed... It must really be special to hear for the first time.. I think you will enjoy for many years, moving forward... Thanks for the react.. G
Come Sail Away is actually Styx's Tour de Force song that everyone attending the concert wants this song played. If you listen real closely your will hear channel switching throughout the song.
This was an awesome graduation song around the time.
If you want one of their best songs from that album listen to 'Castle Walls'. It's incredible!
They were my first concert back in 1978.
Mine too The Grand Illusion Tour, which I think was 79.....Was up in the nose bleed seats in an enclosed arena.. I sure had the munchies after that concert!!!
The more I listened to this song, the more I attached to it. I love it so much
I got to see them in concert three times!
Woohoo! Everyone is sharing their experience on how Styx is spectacular live! I'm glad you got to see them three times!
First time I heard this was at a Farming Frontiers meeting. It was an annual John Deere show dealers hosted in the winter. They used this song in a short snowmobile film. It was simply epic to my young self. It still has that affect on. It is just a great piece of music.
Best of times!! One of myStix's favorites!!
On a scale from 1 to 10 your show is a perfect 100 and climbing!
Thank you so much John! LOL! :)
Heard this song as an early teen
Love Styx and so many great songs to react to!!
Also, if you have not one...take listen to Pink Floyd "Comfortably Numb" from the Pulse tour.
We can't help but sing to it once you know it and they have been great in concert!
Awesome video reaction! Hilarious ending of the video with how you two looked at each other!
LOL! Thank you!
The song is really about longing to be in a better place then where you are now. Thus the sad, melancholic beauty of the beginning and then the powerful soaring emotion STYX is known for that really can and does make you want to cry. My favorite band by far and I'm thrilled to see the two of you react to STYX. You certainly chose the perfect song to start with. I also recommend "Renegade", "The Best of Times", "Lady", "Show Me The Way" or "Crystal Ball" for your next reaction.
We can agree that this song was extremely powerful! Mia and I felt incredibly moved!
Good job, girls! Try "The Grand Illusion"! You will LOVE IT! God bless
Good job, Ladies. I tend to agree with John. Take a listen to "The Grand Illusion" or "Suite Madame Blue" you will not be disappointed......
Listen to this many times when I was young. Always loved it.
Always loved them since the 70s Dennis deyoung's voice sounds kind of theatrical great band The synthesizers are awesome
Great song love it
SUITE MADAM BLUE, SNOWBLIND, NOTHING EVER GOES AS PLANNED, BLUE COLLAR MAN, QUEEN OF SPADES, are some of their best songs.
You girls are so cool
Thank you! :)
This song is truly one of Rock n roles greatest Classics. With the epic sounds and on point transitions, it really "Styx" in your head. :)
Another Styx song worth checking out: Crystal Ball.
You should hear it live, everybody sings!!
Make sure Dennis De Young the original singer and wrote the song.
I was lucky enough to get to see Dennis DeYoung (Styx) live on the "Grand Illusion" tour a few years ago. I have some footage of it on my channel.
Very good. I was lucky enough to see Styx in London in 1983. They were completely on point. Every note. Unlike so many popular bands who get too loose with their songs in concert and really does not sound that great.
@@watchmanonthewall14 that would've been something to see...! In their prime.
@@greaserman95 Exactly!
YES! I love it. You're listening to songs I've heard a thousand times for the first time and I feel like I'm listening to them for the first time through you. Cheers 🍻🥂
This song is AWESOME!
If you want to hear a different side to Styx, listen to "Renegade" or "Too much time on my hands". They are kind if like The Eagles in that they go back and firth in their music style because of the different musicians having different input on how a song will go. The unfortunate aspect if that is that they tend to have bad break ups. They want to go solo with their sound.
Thanks so much for doing Styx!!! I won't tell you what do next by them.. others will... this band is special... just climb aboard... and join us!!!
The song was featured (to great effect!) in a Prom dance scene in the great TV-series "Freaks and geeks".
I was going to point that out. I can't separate the two from each other now (such a great show cancelled long before its time)
The best cover of this amazing song is by Puddles Pity Party. Even more emotional if you can believe it.
Great reaction. They have alot of great songs. Try listening to lady thats another great song. Also Supertramp The Logical song is a good one to start out with. My favorite two bands in the 70's. Yes Im old!
My favorite Styx song is "Blue Collar Man". This was very good too, and you did a great review.
