I just love that her motive is not power and wealth, but rather really cruel revenge. She always asserts power and just acts in such a badass way, then her being defeated by her own spell is a nice contrast to that.
Also I fucking love Otto for some reason, that last scene were he has to bring her tea is such a hilarious and in-character way to show how they ended up and it always makes me grin.

  • @francoisforever

for me, queen ariana was your standard barbie movie villain with a decent amount of depth and threat. the real standout and what made her more interesting for me was her daughter, princess luciana. it would have been easy and trope-ish to make her into a snobby, spoiled princess who goes along with her mother's plan because she's also in love with the prince. but they decided to make her into a sweet, lovely girl who only wishes to experience falling in love. while the love in her head is certainly very idealistic snd you could argue that when her mother shut it down it was just a more realistic arguement, still hearing that your own mother never loved your father is heartbreaking. this contrast between her and her mother makes the two more nuanced as we see this abusive relationship unfold. and i think without princess luciana being the way that she is, queen ariana wouldnt have been so memorable for me.

I think for me it will have to be Laverna from Fairytopia, since she was the first barbie villain I saw, and even though I have watched almost all of the barbie movies, there is just something about her that was terrifying. I remember being a little scared of her and not liking her at all and thought she was pure evil as a child, and now I still think that she was one of the best/worst barbie villains for the reasons Caitlin explained. Yet there were other villains in this list that made sense and some villains were really evil and scary. This is also because the Fairytopia movies were my favorite when I was little especially Magic of the Rainbow so they are really nostalgic to me.
Side Note: Not too long ago I was watching a not too old video of Caitlin's (I swear this was like two days ago) and I thought to myself that what if she does a ranking barbie movie villains, and now she did! I just laughed and was like no way! LOL

If we're gonna talk about Wenlock, let's talk about Wenlock. Watched Pegasus yesterday, perfect timing.
So he does have heterochromia, but *HE GIVES IT TO HIMSELF!!*
When he transforms at the end of the movie back into a regular guy, he has two brown eyes. Dude was like "I'm ugly, give me height and muscle and all the things I could possibly want in my appearance," then looks at himself in the mirror, decides he's still ugly so says "give me blue eyes." Not satisfied so goes "give me yellow instead." Man is _still_ not satisfied, so says "give me both."
    Damn. Talk about being insecure.
Also, the his backstory starts with him stealing the staff of a powerful sorcerer. Why then, at the end of the movie, does the all powerful staff turn into an oar? Like... Annika undoes all his spells, but the staff was the one who did the spells(not its fault, just doin what it's told) and therefore should still remain the staff because a spell was not put upon it... I mean unless he used the staff to make his own magic staff... but then he would have had to keep the original staff to make sure no one else took it...
    Idk. Seems flawed to me.

From the beginning, she is determined to alienate the princesses from their father and drive a wedge in their relationship. I think she convinces the King in his weak, sickly state to view the princesses as "burdens to him" and that's why they leave. Preminger is top tier, always my favorite, he’s a king, he’s a god, he is life, he’s everything

Preminger and the Mouse King are top tier for me, Preminger is wonderful but the Mouse King is great cause when we meet him he's already won and just trying to keep his stolen kingdom. Plus he was also very creepy.

I love how there is a common theme in all of these videos that newer barbie movies tend to be at the bottom

Preminger is almost like an evil Kusco. You can't not love Kusco, and you can't not love Preminger.
