    I'm a writer and I use milanote to plan my stories, my boards actually do look like a wall of text but with arrows, and those arrows really do help me sort things out
    plus milanote also has a 'document' card where I can tuck paragraphs into so that my board isn't just full of story details, that's helpful as well :D
    You're a huge inspiration goodgis! I dream of working together with a group of passionate people like you do with Firith. Keep up the amazing work!

    I wish Milanote would fuse with Whimsical.
    Milanote boards inside boards is just... fantastic, but it still has usability issues, like the need to click on "arrow" then selecting both ends. Whimsical makes this way easier but unfortunately, Whimsical doesn't have the board inside board approach, which is something that makes so much sense to me.

    This is a cool video. I was mostly looking to get an idea of what game development organization even looks like, since I’ve never done that or been involved in it. And it did give me a general feel.
    I wonder how many development teams would benefit from someone who could help organize the ideas and work as part of the team. I like things to be neat personally, and it was just something that popped in my head as I start learning game creation skills.

    At least for how I do things, Kanban boards are good for visual projects but horrible for things which require tasks. Much like you do, I did spend about 1 month testing pretty much every task management tool on the market and ended up setting on Quire. And I did set up on it for one particular reason: every single task manager out there seems to always put recurring tasks behind paid plans while that feature is free on Quire.

    My worry would be that at a certain point it’s just looking nicer than a Kanban board rather than actually executing the task better.

    Seems cool, but only a subscription plan, no way of purchasing it which is a tiring business model. Unless this will help me make an entire game in 6 (10 if we're being generous at $100 bucks) months it's over priced as hell.

    Wait till you find about Masterplan!... which come to think of it is better for solodev in one machine. In any case, the level maker on that one is pretty appealing.

    • @Goodgis

      They are very different. Unity is a game engine and Milanote is a product organizer.

  • @UltraGearGamesOfficial

    I generally struggle with what to put on the board. It's just pretty hard to break down tasks, and I especially have a problem updating the board, which is something I do like once per 2 weeks. Often completely forgetting about its existence. Any tips?

    • @user-cx6ec2kp6u
      @user-cx6ec2kp6u Před 2 lety

      Perhaps you actually don't need it?
      The board should help you organize your game so if you find yourself working on your game without it just fine and having a hard time updating your board to reflect that, either you have another way of organizing your thoughts or you just don't need it.

    • @UltraGearGamesOfficial
      @UltraGearGamesOfficial Před 2 lety

      @@user-cx6ec2kp6u I did think about that in the past, yeah, but I want to have a way to see how much I've done at the same time. Even though I personally don't get that much motivation from it, it's still great to see that I am actually moving forward.

    • @Goodgis
      @Goodgis  Před 2 lety

      I mostly use my boards a daily tasks. You can also make a board where it's a list of all the enemies, locations, or items. Then make a check list for each of them. The most important thing is to make it bite size chunks.
