“It’s amazing to think that it’s 50 years since I started writing Tubular Bells, and I am touched that my music has reached so many people, all over the world, during that time. I am sure that the 50th Anniversary Live Concert Experience of Tubular Bells will be spectacular, theatrical, fantastical and thrilling, marking 50 years from when I started writing the music” - Mike Oldfield
I'm 55 years old and have been aware of Tubular Bells my whole life because of it's iconic album cover I saw all over record stores and head shops my parents took me to in my early days. It was only during the Coronapocalypse that I discovered all your music, though, and started collecting each of your albums I could get my hands on. Thank you so much for all the beautiful music. You works are truly contemporary classics.
I said not too long ago that I thought Secrets/Far above the clouds was the most perfect composition I’d ever heard in my 57 years on this Earth. This performance has managed to surpass even that. The arrangement of The Bell in particular is spellbinding, and actually gets me welling up at times - it just touches my inner self in ways I’ll likely never understand. The world was absolutely blessed with Mike Oldfield; if another 50 years was possible I’d still be listening!
Its amazing to think back in 1974 i heard a 45single on a pub jukebox whith Froggy went a courtin on the b side repeated many times asking my mate John Carbury who is that? He then said mate its Mike Oldfield he had a album out last year.. So i went out and ordered the single and bought the album BUT on getting home i realised it was the orchestral version so hopped on me bike and went back to town and bought the propper as i called it version. Put it on and was blown away into a dream for about 45mins ❤i was hooked and been a Mike Oldfield fan ever since up to and past man on a Rock vocal and musical versions.. Ommadawn, On Horse Back, killing Fields, Guitars, Qe2, Moonlight Shadow and many more... Mike can we have Froggy went a courtin on Spotify.. I pay the family Sub Scription .. I keep banging on about the single, its simply a very sweet version.. ❤
I have the Original. Die Schallplatte habe ich persönliche mehrere Jahre sehr gerne gehört bis Zeit für etwas Neues gab. Doch die Zeit, zeigt uns sie ist grenzenlose und immer wieder Mike Oldfield hören.
seen this live in 21 i went with a really good friend who has sadly passed away this year rip Scott cheers for the memorable road trip and this concert great memories mate see you on the otherside pal.
Nice to read Mike Oldfields comment. Well said Mike. I saw Mike perform in concert at Auckland New Zealand during his tour back in the mid 80s It was amazing. I have always loved Tubular Bells since it's original release. God bless Mike Oldfield
I saw this 8 musicians in High Wycombe Swan this night and it was so good. There were not much concerts in my life, where the atmosphere of the music was like this. And I came from Mid-Germany to See this.
I was 8 years old when Moonlight Shadow released. I remember vividly hearing it on the radio and knowing that I was in love with music. It made my soul tingle. From there I had to listen to Tubular Bells. And sure enough, it gave me tingles again.
I know how you feel. :) I was 11 years old when Tubular Bells released. I believe I purchased it as my fourth LP record at the age of 14 - initially because of the oddly interesting cover photo. It has been my go-to music ever since.
Saw this performance at the Bristol Hippodrome yesterday. Just the eight musicians on stage playing 90 mins of wonderful music, no it wasn't exactly as the original score but was Robin Smith's interpretation. Nothing wrong with that, it brought back wonderful memories of my teenage years !
Saw the show at Ipswich Regent last Friday. Hard to believe it's almost 43 years since we saw Mike perform there which included the brilliant Tubular Bells. A very good interpretation of the work of a genius. His music is timeless and will be played for years to come. Well done to all the musicians on taking on such a daunting challenge.
Der Beste fehlt Dark Star Mike Oldfield. Dennoch eine geniale Umsetzung Kompliment. 50 Jahre Tubular Bells Wahnsinn. Wie die Zeit vergeht. Bin ein Riesen großer Fan von Mike. Tubular Bells war ein Meilenstein der Musik Geschichte. Danke Mike
I was lucky enough to hear Mike Oldfield live in 1981. He has always fascinated me since I bought Tubular Bells in 1974. This performance is also amazing!! BRAVISSIMI !!!
When I was young, I did not understand this music - there were other priorities! But now I have collected almost the entire Oldfield studio collection, and I love doing yoga exercises every day to his music. Thank you
Me ha parecido precioso.Un omenaje a una de las obras musicales más maravillosas que se has compuesto.Bravo por los artistas, muy bien interpretado y muy sentido 👏👏👏♥️♥️♥️
Saw this concert at my local cinema. A wonderful interpretation of one of the greatest albums ever made. Tubular bells is up there with Sgt Pepper and All Things Must Pass in my estimation..
Thank you for sharing! Congratulations! My late brother has died unexpectedly before Christmas and his 53rd birthday in Hungary. He would watched this. He had all of Mike Oldfield cds.
I saw this show in august 2021 in London with a very dear friend.. by august 2022 she had also unexpectedly left us at the age of 60......it was the last concert we ever saw together.. I feel your pain ..my thoughts are with you
Tubular Bells and QE2 were exposed to us as child. Those two albums has inprinted as joyful memories. Either my parents or uncle gifted me a walkman with copy of those albums, since I borrowed my uncle’s vinyls a bit too much. It brings resolution in later years. A haven. Also horror because of a particular song. The Exorcist.
Tubular Bells was, in 1973, the event that got me to spend all my money to buy a Hi-Fi. A Pioneer rack, it was 50 Watt RMS, if I remember well. I was 12 yo, then, my parents had to help me out: it was XMastime, you know, I think I freaked their mind out asking for that. 😅 When I got back home I plugged it in and put “Tubular Bells” on the turntable. It started playing, volume was close to the maximum. Think that all the neighborhoods heard it: my mom was covering her ears and shouting me to reduce the volume. But my dad raised his hand and told her something like “Let’s leave him alone. It’s his moment, now”. God bless you, mom and dad, wherever you are now. Window glasses were trembling, and I was too. And in the end the Master of Ceremonies announced the last instrument: “…and TUBULAR BELLS!”. That was quite a moment I’ll never forget. We all love you, Mike, old friend, thank you for all the Masterpieces you shared with us all. ❤
Saw this in South End a week and a bit ago, absolutely phenomenal! No clue why so much negativity, I thought that everything was fantastic. Only gripe with this video is that it doesn't include the brilliant rendition of Family Man by Jay Stapley!
I did not play it like that. Must be an editing error in the mixing session but although my contract included a ‘patching’ session (normal for live recordings) they didn’t bother using it and none of us got to hear it before it was released.
Im still saving, hope to travel to England when he still have Live Consert until autum. Just got 4 min . of TB4 on fan-mail .. I cry, tho`Im a 55`old Norwegian lad .. Thanks Sir Mike Oldfield.
Saw in York last night and absolutely loved it. Credit to all musicians for taking on what must be a really taunting composition to play. They all nailed it! Fantastic! Glad there were no dancers/acrobats though…

Mike Oldfield Great Multi-instrumentalist ! Greets From Poland ;-)
I Love Tangerine Dream's Phaedra, have since 1974 when I was 16.
Hi Tangerine, here is one more big fan of TD and MO. Greets from Croatia 🎛️
I was there, and with my sister who sadly died a year later - this was her last concert. Both sad and fantastic to watch.
I am sorry for your loss . I am sure some music from Mike is from that other dimension where your sister is now .
Absolutely incredible. I downloaded it, gotta figure out who will love it as much as I do♥️‼️

Great Sunday afternoon in the Basque Country to listen this :) thank you SO MUCH!!
Saw Tubular bells live in the open at Edinburgh Castle, be about 1990 absolutely awesome, including the Scottish pipers.
Me too! 👍
It must have been the Tubular Bells II premiere in 1992.
Gotta say that Cello is masterful orchestration. Fits perfectly and really flows with feeling. Great Cellist too. Amazing!
