I'd personally prefer something like this, continue SIP for 1-2 years and evaluate it with its bench mark SIP returns (or rolling returns) and if it is still lower than benchmark, It could be time to considering switching.

Personally I prefer Index funds, as they give you an extra edge of discipline, as the price changes are not realtime like NIFTYBEES.

But this is purely personal choice based on risk appetite & needs.
